We went to good sushi for my birthday dinner. We enjoy sushi but usually don't stray from our usual sushi restaurant. We were happily surprised by how good everything was. We made a reservation ahead of time and when we arrived it wasn't very busy but it also isn't a very big restaurant so I am glad I made the reservation. Our waitress was wonderful. She was attentive and also had a great sense of humor. We ordered 2 appetizers: the made in house potstickers and the crispy rice spicy tuna. They were both delicious. We then ordered a couple rolls and enjoyed everything we ordered. Overall, it was a very nice experience. It was on the pricey side. So we would like to go back but will save this sushi restaurant for special occasions. read more

This place is extremely small with four tables downstairs and a couple more upstairs and room around the sushi bar. It looks like it's just father and son. Food was good, but the fish was sitting out the entire time. They need to do some more marketing or social media, otherwise I'm afraid they will go out of business. read more

I have to say I've heard so many great things about this place so I was excited to check it out. My husband and I went on a date there and were a little underwhelmed with our experience. The food was ok but the service seemed pretty slow. Also, I was surprised when I ordered a martini that they were "out of vodka" and couldn't make one. I really had high hopes about this place but just wasn't vowed. read more

Good Sushi is a hidden gem, located in the City Park at Lincolnshire. Their menu offers various starters, soups, salads, entrees, nigiri, sashimi, makimono, handrolls, and omakases. We made advance reservations for a counter seating for an earlier dinner - we were seated promptly, and we were just super excited to begin! We ordered: +Hamachi nigiri +Chu Toro nigiri - nice and fatty +Wagyu nigiri - delicious, with a slight sear from the blow torch +Saba nigiri - this was way too fishy in odor and taste for me; wasn't a fan, and highly recommend in not ordering this +Ama Ebi nigiri - the shrimp was pleasantly sweet; note that the head of the ebi will be deep-fried and will come out for you to enjoy In addition, we also had: +a Spicy Scallop handroll +a Spicy Tuna makimono - super spicy; note that when something is described as 'spicy', Chef Jino does not play around! Overall, the cuts of the fish was very generous and the rice was prepared well. One of our orders were mistakenly forgotten, but we were able to receive it towards the end. We ended our dinner with a teacup sundae, which was super cute and just a nice sweet way to finish the meal. Service was very friendly and attentive, and the place itself is clean and calming with the light wooden decor. There is also upstairs seating, so probably best for larger parties or a private gathering. I highly recommend in procuring a seating at the sushi counter, so you can watch Chef Jino. Definitely would love to return to continue enjoying their nigiris! Ample parking in the large plaza lot. +generous nigiris +request the sushi counter seating +located at the City Park at Lincolnshire +ample parking available read more

This has to be one of the best Sushi Restaurants I've been to in the Chicago area. Their selection isn't huge like you find in some, but everything is top notch in quality, freshness, and taste. I expected more of a traditional looking Japanese restaurant but they are very modern and spare in their design. It is actually quite nice. We were greeted immediately. The service was truly outstanding. The waiter was extremely attentive; he took time to explain everything on the menu - and the choice was very difficult to make. We ordered a couple of drinks and their asparagus beef roll. They were out of asparagus so substituted Chinese broccoli, which worked very well in the dish. For our meal, we had tuna, salmon, and rainbow maki rolls, and two pieces of red snapper Negeri. The portions are very generous. The pieces of snapper were very large compared to other places I've had negeri. I can't pick out any one dish I preferred over any others - they were all delicious and beautifully presented. It was nice sitting at the sushi counter. We arrived early - around 6 PM, and the seats immediately in front of the chef were open. He was kind, and answered several questions we had. The show was marvelous. I highly recommend Good Sushi in Lincolnshire. Even if you have to go miles out of your way, it is that good. Thanks to the staff for a great time and a terrific meal. read more

Had heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try as it was close to the hotel we were staying at. And I am glad we did as it was a hit with the whole family. We had a reservation but got there a little early and were able to get seated. It was very empty but we also went at 6 on a Monday. They sat us upstairs which was nice. There were only two tables up there and since there was no one around, it was like a private dining space. We started off with some edamame and the beef and asparagus roll. The asparagus and beef was really tasty with the teriyaki sauce that he makes in house and marinates for 24 hours. It was a very unique and tasty concoction. We ordered a bunch or rolls and the chefs nigiri plate. We wanted the bulgogi but that was the one day they didn't have it so we didn't get to try it. The rolls were all very good. The shrimp tempura hand roll we like so much that we ordered more. Very unique and a great blend of tastes and texture with the crispy tempura, the creamy avocado and the sauces with the rice complimented each other perfectly. The crab and cucumber rolls were such a hit with the little ones that they had one more each. The Cabo was another favorite, we got that as makimono which is your more common sushi roll. It was very well balanced and delicious. The nigiri selection was also very good. Very fresh and the mix of seafood was excellent. Our standout favorites were the eel, the tuna, red snapper and the salmon. The rice was super fresh, to the point that we were asked to use our hands to eat instead of chopsticks. The eel was super fresh. So was the other seafood and we are glad we got to try a variety of things. This was a great dinner and we were very happy that we checked it out. Who would have thought we would get some of the very best sushi we have had in Lincolnshire, IL. If I am back in the area, we will definitely be stopping by here. read more

Don't let the quiet first impression fool you, this place is a great gem. The vibes give 80's retro ... maybe it's the music playlist, but perfectly chill. Such a cute place! I came in with my daughters for dinner on a weeknight and had a great meal. It is a slow pace and very quiet inside, which is a nice change. We had the crispy rice tuna and some sushi rolls and the tempura which has the most shrimp/prawns I've seen on a plate ever. Seaweed salad and miso are also fresh and all in was about $100. read more

I couldn't believe one could find good sushi (pun intended) in this area. Very good quality. I would say it may even be better than some of the sushi places in the city. Apparently they don't stock up for Saturday coz they close on Sunday (good sign for good sushi restaurant) so they ran out of a few items. So I take note to go there earlier next time :) Service is a bit rough but hopefully it would get better. read more

The food here is amazing. The fish incredibly fresh. The sushi rice also seems fresh made. The nigiri is like the one other genuine sushi restaurants we've been too. The fish covers the rice so you only see fish. Large pieces of fresh fish so hence only one per order. We had the mackerel, amberjack, and the fluke. The Maki is also incredible. We had the baby shrimp maki and the shrimp tempura maki. The best we've had. They make it in front of you if you sit at the counter. I wish they had unagi. But they didn't. They have an extensive bar with spirits, sake and wine. The service is attentive right from the get go. The place has been there almost a year. I wish the place had more guests. It deserves more guests. read more

First off I got to say that this is the only restaurant that I haven't given a five star. The service was just OK and they misheard our asks for bowls and kept on giving us forks. The food was also OK and the sashimi cuts were not as good as other cuts in the area. Except for the tuna was pretty good. Overall I give this restaurant an OK review and our entrees took 45 mins! But the servers were nice in all. But I think this restaurant should be called "Ok sushi". (Written by my 11 year old) read more

I love this place. I discovered this place by accident. It's in an interesting shopping mall but don't let the outside prevent you from choosing this place. I enjoyed the fresh sushi and services. Fantastic. Large pieces, great variety. We were very impressed. Staff is very friendly.

My dear friend fellow dining out gal went here and since I got off early dragged my bf out to keep me company. I started off with sweet shrimp and a soy sauce with jalapeño and a hunk of garlic and I believe a little bit of mirin or sugar. It was good . Ordered UME BOSHI WITH CUCUMBER SHISO LEAVE AND NORI . That was an excellent roll . One uni nigiri a bowl of spicy Chirashi assortment of raw fish and octopus with seaweed lettuce and some Sriracha. Followed by that was an assortment of marinated Bon chon really good . Excellent miso soup with Small cubes of tofu and seaweed. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really good. The servers were great. Those sushi knives are so beautiful. I need to get a couple for my arsenal. Really cute atmosphere . Southern Lake County is finally getting some decent restaurants. I'd recommend this restaurant. I also noticed they had big beautiful pieces of crab next time I'll come and I'll get some crab rolls. Nothing better than fresh crab instead of that fake crab stick.. If you feel like having some sushi, come check this place out read more

This is easily the best sushi I've had in the NW suburbs. Comparable to some of the city's best. I love that it remains a hidden gem for the moment, but at the same time I pray it will have enough sustainable success to stay open. Please come to this place. You will be doing a service of all of us that love good sushi (and Good Sushi) and want it to stay here for many years to come. read more

Stopped by Good Sushi to try their omakase lunch on a slow winter Thursday. Despite the unassuming name and strip mall location, Good Sushi is a very welcome higher end sushi addition to the plethora of average (and below average) sushi options throughout the northwest suburbs. The space is small, simple, and welcoming with very friendly service. The fish quality is better than anything I've had outside of a major metropolitan city and is worth the higher price tag. The menu is small and based on the freshest options of the day. Good Sushi specializes in simple and traditional sushi and Japanese dishes and lets the fish quality speak for itself. You won't be dazzled by unique and innovative fusion creations but the traditional dishes you eat will likely be the best versions you've had. The gyoza and shrimp tempura were fresh and made to order and stood above any other I've tried. The $35 lunch omakase is a great way to try Good Sushi out before committing to the full dinner omakase. We were very impressed by the lunch and are looking forward to coming back for the full spread! read more

I finally had a chance to stop by this new sushi spot and it was definitely worth it! I came in hungry, so I got to try quite a variety of their selection. I went with the appetizer flight, the beef dinner entre, chef's choice sushi dinner, and topped it off with a couple of hand rolls. They have a unique appetizer flight that I believe changes daily/weekly. Mine came with 4 different dishes of crab, scallops, shrimp, and seaweed. The crab dish was pretty interesting as eating it required taking the rice ball next to it and mixing it with the raw crab innards. I have never tried anything like this, but it was delicious and fun. The rest of the flight was also well-made and tasty! Next was the filet mignon dinner. The chef graciously added a special lamb chop with the steak and both were expertly cooked. I wanted medium rare and both meats were made to perfection. The filet had a nice crust and was flavorful and juicy. I'm not usually a fan of lamb, but it was quite tender and went well with the veges. With the name of the restaurant, I of course had to try their sushi, and it was excellent! The sushi chef was helpful in giving me info about the selection and what would be the best order to eat them in. Everything is extremely fresh and you can tell the quality is levels better than most suburban sushi restaurants. Last I had two different hand rolls. The spicy octopus and spicy tuna hand rolls were perfect. Whereas most places just douse the seafood in spicy mayo, Good Sushi's hand rolls tasted a lot cleaner. I am not certain, but the hand rolls seemed to be mixed in with what seems to be masago, scallions, and possibly wasabi for the spiciness? I'll have to find out next time what they use, but they were the best hand rolls I've had in a while. The restaurant isn't too big, and about half of the seats are around the center sushi bar. I enjoyed speaking with the sushi chef and seeing him prepare the plates. Everyone at the restaurant was friendly and came around to see how I was enjoying the experience. The place is fairly new and it shows with the cleanliness of the restaurant. The vibe is relaxed and fairly quiet with light music on, but definitely a place where you can have a conversation while enjoying dinner. Overall, I had a great experience dining at Good Sushi, and am glad to see a high-quality sushi restaurant I do not have to drive to the city for. I will be back! read more

Ok. Where do I start? Sushi fanatic here and my biggest complaint about Chicago has been the lack of real sushi options. Lived in LA where my go-to's were Sasabune and Nozawa and in New York where I loved Yoshino. So real deal Holyfield type fish. Imagine my surprise when I found this hidden gem in Lincolnshire. Yes, there are some hidden suburban trappings (slightly loud music, strip mall location) but THIS is the best, freshest nigiri in all of Chicago. We had the chutoro, Ikura (salmon roe), fluke, yellowtail, uni (fresher than fresh that night), and a few other items. All were very good but the nigiri really stole the night. As well, served with fresh wasabi, not horseradish. Total tab was ~$260 for two of us (two bottles of sake as well - Nigori and Junmai). If you compare that to a typical suburban sushi restaurant, that may seem pricey but compared to the other restaurants I mentioned (and Good Sushi's nigiri stands toe to toe), it's a bargain. We will be back, likely weekly. It's in our rotation and if you're into real sushi, I couldn't recommend anymore. Go. Just go. Sit at the bar, order a kirin. Order a junmai and let the itamae do his thing. You won't be sorry. read more

Omakase dinner experience. Menu was a little different for this past Saturday from what I read in a recent blog, so it looks like the items can vary from time to time. Ngl, was disappointed that I didn't get to try some of the items mentioned in the blog, but at the end of the day, every item we had today was still a hit. Fish was fresh and immaculately prepared. What do you know, I like toasted sesame seed on ice cream! read more

Came after 7 PM. The dining room was not as busy as I was imagining. Good tone of service, and the friendly manner. Maybe my expectation was too high by looking at their posted pictures But the reality was on the average level. Kushiyaki combination wasn't as pleasant as I was explained by the server, beef was extremely chewy that I couldn't bite them all. By charging that much of price, yet a Sea urchin was not from either a reputable location such as Santa Barbara or Asia. Fluke fin (engawa) is too large to bite off definitely Chef needed to know how to serve. Dining room has a certain atmosphere, so we enjoyed our conversation with nice and quiet mood. Towards end of dinner, employees were eating or tasting something nearby where we sitting in which they could've done in a separate area. read more

Fantastic sushi spot in the midst of Lincolnshire. Super welcoming and knowledgeable maître'd with a clean, open, inviting design to the restaurant. It's somewhat unassuming from the exterior and with the name, but that is an East Asian tradition, IME, to not be too boisterous with signage etc. Food and service are all tops. I was fortunate enough to dine here a few times during a business trip, and every experience was stellar. Some signs of excellent sushi and cuisine: - Perfect rice, slightly vinegared, slightly above room temperature, fluffy yet sticky and compact, served fresh and packed perfectly for the nigiri and rice dishes such as donburi - Homemade tamagotchi! Absolutely delicious - Fresh selection of fish serving whatever is in season or looks best at the market - Not pre-sliced, the chef fillets and preps the fish himself and will slice each piece fresh for the nigiri and sashimi courses I had the nigiri omakase a few times, and it was stellar. Love having the individual bites come out and served with fresh wasabi. The chef does not pre-sauce the fish, so you can elect to add the appropriate amount of soy sauce to your desire. There are some maki options and hand rolls but they're not really my thing. The chef is Korean and is very serious about his sushi; the hand rolls are Korean style. Some of my favorite items, too, were the cooked fish. They had a hamachi Kama prepared for me that was so delightful and delicious. So many different flavors and textures and perfect crisp on the exterior and warm and juicy interior. I loved that it was served with a ponzu sauce that included intermixed grated daikon radish. It's that type of attention to detail that takes this restaurant up to five stars. Great beer wine and sake service as well as Japanese whiskeys. There is a diverse clientele with some serious sushi eaters, which is a more than auspicious sign. Strong recommend. One quick point - not a meal to go in desirous of a rush, this is more of a leisurely paced experience with the flair and creativity of the chef at the center. It's one itamae, so it'll take a bit of time although once the courses come the pace is stellar. read more

Delicious sushi - attention to all the little details that makes sushi special like the temperature of the rice, chili oil and chilis instead of mayonnaise in their spicy dishes, excellent fish. Very small place with only 5 tables plus a sushi bar and a few high tops. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable waiter/manager. Good music on a Friday night and generous wine pours. Would have been delighted to stumble across a place like this in the city, a true gem in the suburbs! read more

I'm giving it a 3....but... Food was a 4.5 and service was a 1 so that you have the breakdown. I'll start with the food. I got the chef sashimi platter and the fish is the best in the burbs. Hands down. I moved here from California 8 years ago and I've eaten at every sushi place in the burbs. Nothing compares to this. That said, it's somewhat of a limited menu -- has a bunch of fish options, but pure play sushi restaurant. Not a lot from the kitchen. Good for me, just calling it out. We also got some hand rolls which were excellent. And they have a wide variety of hand roll options which is pretty neat. The tuna crispy rice was the best we've ever had. Talk about crispy. It's a must have. Now the service...whoa...they better get their act together. Short solution is they need more people. It wasn't just that the food took a long while to come, the server messed up three things we ordered. They had two servers for the entire restaurant and they need three plus a host. All in all, we will be back. But, fix the service! Please. read more

I have dropped coin on excellent sushi in NYC, Miami, and Chicago. This omakase experience out ranks them all, and the price was below what the experience and quality offer. We had excellent service, perhaps because the omakase is served at the sushi bar and we didn't need service beyond the chef's. The chef was also fun and charming, which made the experience even more delightful. In my experience, the omakase here is not only the best I've tried, it's also the best bang for your buck. read more

Nobu is the only other omakase restaurant I have been too and Good sushi was an even better experience than that! The atmosphere, price, fresh ingredients and excellent staff were all things that stood out. It gave off a fine dining feel without the over embellished feeling one can get from other fine dining establishments. The appetizer was an amazing way to start the meal. I was presented with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, an oyster shooter and giant homemade dumpling in a delicious broth. Each component of the dish complemented each other and enhanced its counterparts. Every aspect could stand alone and be amazing but I was shocked to see how well it all worked together combined. My favorite had to be the homemade dumpling. It was prepared perfectly and helped bring out the fresh combination of ingredients. The sashimi platter was the next course and was fresh and delicious. It was hands down the freshest and best quality sashimi I have had in Illinois. I am going back here just for this, it was so good!  We finished off the meal with a filet. I know what you're thinking, steak at a sushi restaurant? YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! It was cooked perfectly and like everything else here, was prepared to let the great ingredients be the star. Anyone who doesn't like sushi or fish will be impressed to come here and order one of the best steaks they've ever had. It was served with a roasted sweet potato, I was stuffed. I would recommend this hidden gem to anyone, definitely will be back! read more
