    Friday night Happy Hour!
    John M.

We stopped in on a Friday night before seeing a show at Marriott Lincolnshire which is very close. We had a reservation but really didn't need it as they have dining room, bar and patio seating. Service was just average as they were training a few new staff members which was somewhat confusing. They offer a Happy Hour from 3-6 so we took advantage of a few beer specials and appetizers. They have a nice beer menu . I tried a few of their lagers which were pretty good . The cheese curds were very good. I tried their Award Winning wings which are smoked and then flash fried . I was able to get half of them with Mango Habanero and half with Sweet and Spicy . I asked for more of the Sweet and Spicy sauce and was surprised they charged me extra! My wife had the Half Day Chopped Salad which was good but loaded with Pepperoni and way too much dressing. Suggestion..order the dressing on the side! They do charge a 3% credit card surcharge. For some good beers and a casual Brewpub experience, give Half Day a visit.

They were kind enough to host a mixed table during the Packers-Bears playoff game. Unfortunately the food was mixed reviews too. Our end loved the pizza, especially the crust, the blackened shrimp tacos and the spicy chicken panini. The wings were so good that a usually kind-hearted friend refused to let anyone else have a bite. The other end of the table wasn't as pleased. ‍ There is a ton of space inside- I was kind of expecting a giant projector screen at the end of the bar but there are just a lot of normal screens. The entrance wasn't very bright and looked like the wrong door- but it's right off the middle of the parking lot.

Happy Hour Review! Came to Half Day Brewing to enjoy their happy hour with a group of friends. They offer $7 select apps, $11 one topping pizza or wings, $5 Half Day Drafts, and $5 Nutrl Vodka Seltzers. Portions come as the standard size even with the discounts. I tried both the Cheese Curds and Southwest Chicken Rolls. The Cheese Curds were served with a chipotle ranch & sweet salsa and were perfectly melty. The Southwest Chicken Rolls also came with the chipotle ranch. The inside had a subtle spice and was packed with other ingredients than just the chicken. Many people in our group tried some of the beer offerings and liked their choice. Our server Michael was great about splitting checks, getting orders in, and food out quickly.

I met a friend here for dinner and happy hour right after work. When we arrived at 5:00 on a Wednesday, the place was pretty quiet, but tables began to fill up over the next hour. Our server was attentive and the menu offered lots of options, including salads, sandwiches, entrees and more. I chose the spicy chicken panini, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavors. I also ordered a cider, which was delicious. I'm glad I finally made my way to Half Day Brewing and look forward to returning!

Great beer and food. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. They have a wide variety of options. I tried their pizza.

I really want to like this place. The space is huge and inviting. The beer is absolutely terrific! The IPA choice on tap was huge and they tasted great. The food however needs work and I sincerely hope it changes for the better. I don't think I have ever had a pizza so lacking in flavor and tasting as if it was a bad frozen pizza which I know it wasn't as they have their own pizza oven? Things they need to improve: 1. Make the crust crispy not limp and soggy like we had. Either add more yeast to the dough and or use "00" flour which is best for pizza crust and turn up the heat in the oven to insure crispness; 2. Use pizza sauce not just plain unflavored tomato sauce. If you use plain tomato sauce at least add oregano and basil. Lastly, use a bit less sauce as the pizza crust will crisp up better.; 3. The sausage was taste less! Did they use just plain unseasoned ground pork instead of sausage? Please buy some decent sausage with some flavor; and 4. Change the cheese. This cheese has no flavor and no cheese pull. You need to upgrade the quality and use a decent mozzarella cheese. Implementing the above and making certain your pizza oven is hot enough will result in delicious pizza. We need you to change your pizza and make it tasty! The southwestern egg rolls did have flavor but could use some crunch inside? The outside was nice and crust but the inside a bit mushy? We will be back to Half Day Brewing to try the burgers, salads, and perhaps the cheese curds all of which looked tasty on another table. Please, please, change your pizzas - you have a great pizza oven and just need to change up the ingredients and blast up the temperature on that oven so it makes a crispy crust!

Yummy. Great dinner. Bar food was what ordered. Burgers , chicken quesadillas and prime rib sliders excellent. Service great. Ambiance hard to rate as we could only eat in bar, a bit loud...

Salt and pepper shrimp, great flavor, solid heat if you want it with the sliced jalapeño and sriracha sauce.

The service is very friendly, the beers are great, and the food is excellent. What more could you want? Nothing. So just get here and enjoy yourself.

We came in late Friday after an event (haha--gong bath) and the server announced that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. We quickly ordered drinks and apps. Chips with assorted dips, Reuben egg rolls, potstickers, Half Day beer brined chicken tenders...the server brought our food out quickly, made us feel comfortable, didn't rush us. The bar is large, with lots of high tops. I didn't know there were two entrances, we entered by the bar so I didn't see the dining area. We were almost the last party in the bar area and our server was prompt, courteous, and like I mentioned, didn't hurry or rush us. The apps and food were hot, tasty, and just what we needed. I would like to come back for lunch or dinner and try their other offerings.

Have never been disappointed here. The latest sampling....Cherry vanilla sour. Run. Don't walk. $5 this month (April). Soooooo good.

I've tried their beer previously at other locations, and have always liked it, so you can't really go wrong. But, I hadn't been to their location. I was expecting a small taproom, in the same vein as other local breweries. I was not expecting this to be a full pub-like setup. I came here randomly because I was in the neighborhood and saw a sign for a vinyl show, so I was curious and decided to make a stop. I didn't order any food because I wasn't planning to go anywhere for lunch, so I can't speak to the food/wait service element. But, the place is huge, and the vinyl show/sale was a fun event in the back room. It worked well as a venue for that purpose. They also have an extensive beer menu (both their own, and surprisingly, even other breweries that they have on their guest taps.). They really have something for everyone (including root beer for a non-alcoholic option). I'd love to come back sometime for a proper visit and meal if I'm in the Lincolnshire area.

For my meal, I ordered the lake forest breakfast. The ingredients were all fresh and the combination of meat, potatoes, and vegetables made for the perfect balanced breakfast. I felt as light as a feather afterwards! I was told the avocado toast and cobb salad were delicious as well. Inside is an English style pub with very dim lights. There are cozy booths and tables that give such a calming aura where you can have quiet conversation for any time of day. Will definitely be revisiting.

The menu sounded delicious. They serve a complimentary bread with butter, but we didn't receive any until we noticed another table did as soon as they sat down. So I asked. And eventually someone brought exactly two over and plopped them down on one of our very dirty, used plates. My favorite part was when the server so confidently plopped down the extremely burnt roll and scurried off. So I asked if they could bring out a new roll and butter. Never received either. To start we ordered the Burrata and the Steak Frites. The Burrata was good and I enjoyed the bread it was served with, but the tomatoes could've been in more bite-sized pieces since they were chunks. The Steak Frites was good too... the steak had the allusive butter. The fries were crisp, I didn't try the onion rings though. I wasn't intending to eat much of this dish, but without asking, the kitchen decided to fully split the dish. Not a big deal and I kind of get thinking. The bread thing was weird. Then there was this weird moment where they just tossed a box on the side of the table and scurried off again. The entire time I felt like my presence was inconveniencing them from doing their job. The whole thing felt awkward and gave a sense like they were bothered by something. Perhaps the way I was dressed, but it's a pub for crying out loud, and if I walked down the street to Le Colonial with how I was dressed, LC wouldn't have even batted an eye or had an attitude when it came to service. So next time I'll walk down the street to LC.

The cod was tasty and came with mixed veggies, coleslaw and a choice of fries, tater tots or red potatoes. I chose the potatoes and really enjoyed them. We arrived at 4:30 and snagged the last table in the very small dining area. The bar was pretty full, too. As we ate, a line began to form at the door for people waiting for tables. We probably would have stayed longer and eaten a little more fish if not for the number of people standing basically right behind us waiting to eat. All-you-can-eat is a great offer, but with only a handful of tables inside, it's probably not the best business strategy. And honestly, the plate had a good amount of food on it, so we didn't *need* more anyway. Kilcoyne's is tiny and has a better menu than I'd expect for what seems like a dive bar. I'd try the fish fry again, or maybe something else from the menu. However, I would not be willing to stand in the crowded doorway waiting for a table.
