    Flatbread caprese

Tried the new location and of course it's gorgeous and it has a Scottsdale vibe to the whole scene outside. We sat at the bar and ordered a flatbread and salad. The flatbread was tasty and I would order again. The salad was plentiful and fresh. Discounted wine on Wednesday was a nice surprise. Also, they expanded their alcohol selection. Options for mixed drinks and more name brand spirits that you are accustomed to the taste. Service was fine... we sat at the bar, so we had pretty easy access to ask for things and be checked on.

Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery - Vernon Hills, IL…read more Overall Rating: Highly Recommended Feather Glass is a fantastic spot that nails the wine bar experience with a beautiful, modern aesthetic and top-tier service. While the food is incredibly tasty, a few minor tweaks to the composition and seasoning of certain dishes would make the experience truly flawless. The Highlights: Drinks, Ambience, & Service * The Flights: We thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and mimosa flights. They are well-curated, beautifully presented, and a great way to sample their extensive selection. * Atmosphere: The ambience is excellent and sophisticated, making it one of the most visually appealing spots in Vernon Hills. * Service: The staff provides excellent service--attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Food Feedback & Suggestions * Mediterranean Flatbread: Very flavorful, but the olives can make it quite salty. Adding a balsamic glaze would provide a sweet contrast to balance out the saltiness. * Beet Salad: Features fresh, high-quality ingredients. This dish would benefit from a touch more salt and a bit more acid (like a bright vinegar) in the dressing to really highlight the earthy beets. * Paneer Palak Bites: A delicious fusion idea, but the execution was slightly misleading and difficult to eat. The bread lacked the expected toasted crispiness, and because the paneer is served in a thin slice, it often slides off, leaving the sauce on the plate. * Suggestion: Try chopping the paneer into small cubes, bruschetta-style, and mixing them directly with the sauce. Layering that mixture onto a properly toasted baguette would create a much more stable and crunchy bite while keeping the great texture of the cheese. Final Verdict Despite these small suggestions, this is a great restaurant that you should definitely check out. The flavors are delicious and the overall experience is wonderful.

As this was just down the street from our office in the Kemper Business District, she thought this would be a cool place to hang out to recap the year for our department and she was right. The place itself is a cute house with what looks like a cool outdoor space, when the weather is nicer. Inside is a small bar when you first walk through the front door. We we seated in a small room off from the main bar, next to a lovely fireplace. We started out with charcuterie boards. Prices range from 4 pieces for $30, 6 pieces for $46 and 8 pieces for $58. The selection of meats and cheeses and were very nice, but the prices seemed steep. The cheeses and meats were as follows: Wooley Rind (Green Dirt Farm) - soft ripened sheep's milk MontAmore (Sartori) - semi firm Italian style Cheddar Goat Gouda (Central Coast Creamery) - crumbly aged goat cheese "Creamy Sexy Blue" - German triple cream cow's milk with blue veining Jamon Serrano, aged 24 months Stagberry - Elk Salami with dried blueberries Finocchiona - Tuscan style salami with fennel seed Pig & Fig Terrine - Country style pork pate with dried figs, cinnamon, ginger All were very good and had a lovely flavor. Due to the number of people nibbling, I asked for extra bread and was treated with toasted sourdough, which was very nice. For dinner, I got the Chicken Tinga Panini (Tomato-Chipotle Chicken, Queso Oaxaca, Arugula, served with Salsa Verde & Guacamole). This was a very good sandwich. I loved the idea of Chicken Tinga in a sandwich format, and it worked. I had saved half of it to take home to have for breakfast the next day, but got wrapped up in good-byes and walked out and left it. Man I was mad! My manager ordered the Roasted Beets (with whipped Feta cheese, toasted pistachios, red onion, dill and a red wine vinaigrette). The serving was huge! She loves beets and said that the dish was very good A few people got the Broccoli Cheddar soup and said it was very good. I wanted to try the oysters as I love East Coast ones, but at $20 for 6, couldn't wrap my mind around that. The wine list was pretty good and on this particular night, we got bottles for a crazy low price. My manager got a bottle of red (can't remember the name) that was $75, but she got it for half price. Same for me for a lovely bottle of sparkling rose. The hostess had a list of wines on her tablet that she showed us as well that were 50% off. The location is quite a drive from Chicago, but the times I have to go to Lake Zurich for team meetings, I may just stop in to camp out for eats and drinks while waiting for my Uber and rush hour traffic to die out.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with welcome smiles and were shown to our table, already prepared for our large group. Every appetizer and entrée was delicious, spiced just right and was served hot from the kitchen. We enjoyed a variety of appetizers and especially enjoyed the Brussel sprouts salad, arancini and mushroom garlic flatbread. Everyone enjoyed their mains; however, standouts were the lasagna, lobster capellini, chicken parmesan and braised short rib. Portion sizes were ample, but not oversized. Most of the dessert selections were very rich and sweet, but perfect for those who enjoy decadent sweet treats! The cocktails were all unique and delicious, kudos to the mixologists at the bar! Our server was attentive and friendly and we enjoyed the festive ambiance and lively atmosphere. Our entire group commented on how perfect the evening was, we will definitely be back soon for the food, friendly service and delicious cocktails!

After several visits, it is clear this is a restaurant that understands the fundamentals of fine dining: atmosphere, execution, and a menu that extends well beyond its steakhouse label. What first sets The Tavern apart is its ambiance. The space leans into a dark, romantic, dimly lit aesthetic that feels both polished and inviting. On our most recent visit, we were seated upstairs according to our reservation, and that remains the preferred setting. The quieter noise level above the main floor allows for more comfortable conversation and a more intimate dining experience. Service was solid, if not especially memorable. Our server was efficient and capable throughout the evening, though somewhat lacking in warmth and guidance. Fortunately, the kitchen carried the night with ease. Every entrée at the table was excellent. My wife's lobster was particularly well received, while the steaks were cooked properly, deeply flavorful, and presented with the kind of care expected at this level. Presentation across the board was refined and appealing. The wine program also deserves recognition. The list is extensive, thoughtfully selected, and offers strong choices for diners who appreciate pairing a serious bottle with dinner. The Tavern is undeniably a high-price-point experience, but it largely delivers the quality and atmosphere to justify it. For those seeking a refined steakhouse meal in Libertyville with strong food, notable wine, and an intimate setting, it is easy to recommend.

The first tricky part is finding the entrance because it's not really obvious as expected in long grove There's no real signs. Further, the next tricky piece is finding parking if you can get it on the street or find it in the lot now luckily both are free. Once I managed to find a door to the place, it turned out to be the back door and so I had to climb up a bunch of stairs in order to get to the front part of the restaurant to actually check in for the reservation. And yes, please make a reservation. This place does get packed even for early times. The service was really friendly and very nice however, I will say overall the food was OK but nothing really standoffish. For example, if you look at the pictures of the food quite bluntly it just looks like they slapped food onto a plate. There's really no thought that's been put into the presentation. There's really been no thought also to just the pure amounts of cheese and sauce that are also creating a swimming pool on the plate. We ordered the grilled octopus for appetizer and even that was swimming in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and too much of everything I think the food is OK but nothing fantastic. Considering the overly saturated Chicagoland market of Italian restaurants I wouldn't necessarily say this was at the top of my list.
