I bought the new client 3-pack on a whim because I passed the studio and thought it looked new and interesting. It was a great deal considering how expensive individual passes are for only 50 minute classes. The studio is beautiful and very open, but the coat room is too packed and not functional for a full class of students trying to leave and come in at the same time.
I took the ballet class and ass three times, which was smart combo of Pilates and ballet. I've taken many adult ballet and Pilates classes in the past, and I felt like the teacher was extremely familiar with both and was aware of body limitations and alignment. I was skeptical at first because of the very short class time (most ballet classes I've taken are 90 minutes) and although it did honestly feel rushed, I got a wonderful full body workout and had a lot of fun (fun can be VERY hard to come by in ballet). It was a bit unusual that there was no barre to hold on to, which made the "barre" part of the class more difficult. For me, who is familiar with ballet placement, this was fine and worked out my abs more, but I can see easily how not having a barre would encourage improper alignment for beginners.
Unfortunately, I found the floors (which seem to be wood on concrete instead of the standard sprung floors which absorb shocks) extremely hard and unforgiving. As a former dancer, I have a few minor foot injuries that acted up because of this, and I do not feel comfortable returning for classes that involve active moving across the room and jumping unless they upgrade the floor. This is a shame, but because of how much I liked the instructors, I do hope to come back for a lower impact mat class. read more
