Well at least until diner that is! Speaking of, the location is the best in terms of options for your day or night. There is so much to do in this neighborhood and the studio is gently tucked away on a quiet block in the heart of one of the coolest parts of Brooklyn or arguably NYC. The guidance you receive at 5th Wall is the best. The instructors, a family run co., come from a long lineage of movement arts like dance, gymnastics, and all things in the air. They have pretty much done it all which means guess who benefits from all that knowledge?! You! When I say guidance, I don't just mean physically either. Their approach to teaching every class is highly intuitive, conveyed with a full presence of the moment your in. They never check out, they are always right there supporting you in every way they can. Literally holding your feet above your head or giving you the courage to be bigger than you think you can be. Classes here have an excellent sense of structure which in turn leads to better function and they always keep it light! Laughter is abundant. Keys to success in life! Laugh and play! We are incredibly lucky they have opened their home, their heart for what they do and their mind to teach us how to be better movers. The vibe in this studio is a welcome change from multi purposed spaces with different classes and people coming in and out. If you seek an intimate space with the best physical instructors, look no further. Oh, and hey, they also are choreographers. Ask them about what they are working on and how you can see it!

Location is convenient in Williamsburg and the classes are small. You do not need to be a rockstar athlete or daredevil to be able to do this either. Get on it!

This was my first time trying aerial yoga, so I didn't quite know what to expect, but I quickly…read morerealized it's a full body workout. Danielle, our instructor, was efficient, making the most of our private class by showing us all kinds of fun and challenging tricks in the silks. That said, a few things would've elevated the experience. First and foremost, the silks themselves really need a deep clean. The smell was noticeably off, and that made it uncomfortable anytime we had to lift ourselves into them or get up close for certain movements. I get that it's an active studio, but the silks shouldn't retain that much odor, especially for a private class setting. We had an early 9 a.m. session, and it would've been a nice to 1) do introductions (share a bit about the studio? ask about our 6 party group? more conversational overall...) 2) offer to use the Bluetooth speaker to play music tailored to our vibe, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. We could've asked, sure, but small details like that can make a difference for a private group. Otherwise, the experience could feel a bit impersonal and solely transactional. Danielle's teaching style was quick and assertive, which works for more advanced folks, but most of us were beginners. She tended to demonstrate five or six steps at once, followed by a casual "You got it?" (we indeed did not have it, LOL) We weren't shy about asking for help, though, and I appreciated her patience when we needed things broken down more slowly, especially when it came to knots and footing that didn't feel intuitive or safe without guidance. I also think the silks could've been lifted a bit higher so that we got a more enhanced "aerial" experience. I didn't feel as though we were as lifted from the mat. Despite the speed bumps, it was a fun and memorable way to start our Saturday. Danielle and her daughter Grace were kind enough to take our pictures afterward, and we all left feeling like we'd done something bold and new. I would definitely recommend the experience (with the feedback that the studio give the silks a refresh and perhaps adjust the pace for true first-timers).

I appreciate the positive and upbeat approach to nervous clients that never done this before. In the beginning of the class we were stretching full body and we were lucky enough to see a rehearsal during our class. We were instructed to come up the ladder and be strapped with a harness. The next steps they vocally announced was that we had to hook our legs and hang upside down while arch our backs. I was quite nervous to be honest and my first time doing this so this task was hard to achieve. I'm slightly afraid of heights and wanted to get over that fear; however as I was struggling emotionally/physically our coach Carol was giving me tough love advice. At first I was discouraged at this and took it personal because my body physically couldn't do it (perhaps this was a mental block) and I couldn't move onto the next level (having someone catch you). My friend eventually got to do it and I slightly got discouraged at this point. Looking back at it however I know she meant well. Regardless, it was an amazing experience.
