Love the space. The instructor was great and the venue was old school wood floors with a great vibe.

This place is truly special and offers an unparalleled experience in yoga and in life…read more If you are looking for a place to practice yoga with experienced, helpful, and inspiring teachers, Jyll and the other staff are excellent. They can help you improve your form, increase strength and flexibility, and cultivate a stillness inside you that you've been longing to access. The Power class will have you standing taller and feeling stronger. Walking out of the Hatha class, I realized all of the placed in my body that had previously been in pain and were no longer now that she had helped me unkink and unwind. Going every week is a pleasure and a relief! Beyond teaching excellence, Jyll does something rare and beautiful: she is a convener of community. This is something so many of us lack in modern life in NYC. Jyll is able to build and protect a space that is welcoming and supportive and life-affirming. She has created a family that supports each other in health and in life. Coming to Urban Asanas 3 years ago was one of the best decisions I have made in my life and I cannot recommend it more.

I met Jyll years ago via Minka and it was a moment I will always remember! From the moment I heard…read moreher voice, I was drawn in. She led a yoga class at a Minka event. I then tracked her down in Crown Heights, where I live and have since tried a lot of different classes. Each one has impact- unexpected, more than you think kind of impact. At first I was all about the power class, I tried yoga in the park, breath and beats, and have attended a variety of in person special events. At the moment I'm a regular at Soul Sunday and if I don't attend, my week just feels different. Jyll is anatomy heavy which I love- I love a class where you understand what connects with what and how each moving part affects your body, heart, and mind. Jyll has me laughing and sometimes crying each week and each time I walk away feeling more grounded, strong, and JOYOUS. I can't praise this studio enough. I've been doing yoga for over 30 years and no one compares to jyll, no studio compares. No where else has the energy, diversity, and community that Urban Asanas offers. Try it! You won't regret it :)

Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and…read moreit's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

Hi YTB, I wanted to…read moreshare some feedback about the 6:30p class CLASSIC 26+2 HOT 90 on Tuesday, Nov. 11 led by Caro Lokah. I could see that the studio thermostat was reading 117°F since my mat was positioned in the back corner. Would you say that's an acceptable temperature? Every website I've checked says that temperature is too high for hot yoga, but maybe I'm wrong or missing something. About halfway through the class (45 minutes in), I started feeling too hot and overheated. I was concerned for my well-being and uncomfortably hot. I quietly let Caro know I was too hot when she was nearby me. So I was preparing to leave the class early, but Caro pressured me to stay. This also made me feel more uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've attended hot yoga classes before and even at your studio, but I learned in Caro's class that 117°F is well beyond my tolerance level and a health-risk, in general. I understand that hot yoga is meant to be challenging, but this level of heat felt unsafe. I wanted to make you aware, as I'm concerned that such high temperatures and Caro's response to my situation could pose a risk to your students' health. Could you please confirm if this was intentional and Caro's response to my situation follows the guidelines of Yoga Tribe Brooklyn? Up until that class, I was really enjoying YTB.  Thank you for looking into this and responding. Tracy P.S. I tried emailing YTB, but there is no email listed on your site. I tried to DM YTB on Instagram, but it says "they don't allow new message requests from everyone." I sent a LinkedIn DM on Nov. 15, but no one replied.

All are welcome and you feel it from the moment you walk in till the time you leave. The instructors are very welcoming, knowledgeable and encouraging. One in particular is Natalie(owner) and her encouraging spirit. I was one of her first students and came in not knowing what to expect and what I found was not your typical yogi. I was continuing my practice with someone who encouraged me to go harder and longer while hearing the tunes of Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Prince and a little jazz as well. She got me to do a headstand on my first visit and after a month I was doing it on my own. WOW!!! Now I find myself telling all I meet about yoga and about STACKED YOGA. STACKED is clean, plentiful of good encouragement and instructors that will take your practice to the next level. Don't be afraid of the small space. It is very intimate yes but I think it's what makes STACKED one of the best studious in the city. Come give it a try. You'll love it!! P.S. The yoga retreats are pretty awesome too

The classes are not super packed which is what I sought after in a studio. I'm also really impressed with the different levels and classes offered because each instructor has their own uniqueness.
