It start with a nice warm up and the instructor Aimee taught us some beginner friendly moves. I honestly forgot the names of the moves but they were pretty shapes. We learned two types of climbing and of them is definitely easier than the other for me. It is fun and unique activity to try with friends. Aerial Arts offer different apparatus from Lyra, Trapeze, and many more. Would love to try in the future.

But during the second class, the instructor, if you can even call her that, asked me where I was from. When I answered, she rolled her eyes at me and acted in a very racist way. I mean, maybe you can get away with being rude if you're beautiful and attractive, but not when you're ugly and look more like a man than a woman. I felt awful because I ended up taking a third class with the same instructor, and she wouldn't even help me or look at me. It was a terrible experience. Also, I used to be an aerial dance instructor a few years ago, so I know what it's like to work with real professionals -- people who have competed in California and Las Vegas. That's why I can confidently say the behavior and professionalism at this institution are completely unacceptable.

The guidance you receive at 5th Wall is the best. The instructors, a family run co., come from a long lineage of movement arts like dance, gymnastics, and all things in the air. They have pretty much done it all which means guess who benefits from all that knowledge?! You! When I say guidance, I don't just mean physically either. Their approach to teaching every class is highly intuitive, conveyed with a full presence of the moment your in. They never check out, they are always right there supporting you in every way they can. Literally holding your feet above your head or giving you the courage to be bigger than you think you can be. Classes here have an excellent sense of structure which in turn leads to better function and they always keep it light! Laughter is abundant. Keys to success in life! Laugh and play! We are incredibly lucky they have opened their home, their heart for what they do and their mind to teach us how to be better movers. The vibe in this studio is a welcome change from multi purposed spaces with different classes and people coming in and out. I have been attending weekly intro pole dancing classes for 10 weeks, I have taken the chair dance…read moreclass and the floor flexibility class. All of these classes have been great and I highly recommend trying them. First of all, I'm new in town and don't know anyone so I took my very first pole class by myself. I was nervous, but the instructor, Autumn and other students were very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Secondly, I don't have any gymnastics or dance background, but Autumn structures the class to accommodate each student's ability. So if you're feeling like you're not capable of learning pole dance I assure you that you are and there's a class at this studio that is suitable for your needs. Also, with the price and parking it's incredibly accessible. The price is really reasonable. The intro package was the best deal around. At the time, (not sure if it's still going on) it was just $30 for three classes. The parking situation is THE BEST! They have two lots right in front with open free parking. I couldn't write this review without mentioning the beauty of this studio. It's on the 4th floor of the historic Yardly building in Union City. It has a spacious loft feel with high ceilings, lots of windows and city skyline views of the Freedom Tower. It's the perfect space to inspire movement and feel empowered. Lastly, it's important to mention COVID precautions. Masks are recommended and most people wear them. The poles are set 6 feet apart and are wiped down with alcohol frequently throughout class. I always feel really safe there and appreciate the precautions taken. I feel like I'm just starting a long journey with pole dancing and I'm really happy to begin here with Lovely Lioness. I sincerely recommend giving this studio a try because I think you might fall in love with pole dancing and their community the same way that I have.

This was my first time trying aerial yoga, so I didn't quite know what to expect, but I quickly…read morerealized it's a full body workout. Danielle, our instructor, was efficient, making the most of our private class by showing us all kinds of fun and challenging tricks in the silks. That said, a few things would've elevated the experience. First and foremost, the silks themselves really need a deep clean. The smell was noticeably off, and that made it uncomfortable anytime we had to lift ourselves into them or get up close for certain movements. I get that it's an active studio, but the silks shouldn't retain that much odor, especially for a private class setting. We had an early 9 a.m. session, and it would've been a nice to 1) do introductions (share a bit about the studio? ask about our 6 party group? more conversational overall...) 2) offer to use the Bluetooth speaker to play music tailored to our vibe, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. We could've asked, sure, but small details like that can make a difference for a private group. Otherwise, the experience could feel a bit impersonal and solely transactional. Danielle's teaching style was quick and assertive, which works for more advanced folks, but most of us were beginners. She tended to demonstrate five or six steps at once, followed by a casual "You got it?" (we indeed did not have it, LOL) We weren't shy about asking for help, though, and I appreciated her patience when we needed things broken down more slowly, especially when it came to knots and footing that didn't feel intuitive or safe without guidance. I also think the silks could've been lifted a bit higher so that we got a more enhanced "aerial" experience. I didn't feel as though we were as lifted from the mat. Despite the speed bumps, it was a fun and memorable way to start our Saturday. Danielle and her daughter Grace were kind enough to take our pictures afterward, and we all left feeling like we'd done something bold and new. I would definitely recommend the experience (with the feedback that the studio give the silks a refresh and perhaps adjust the pace for true first-timers).

Pulled the trigger and signed up for a yearly membership after taking a few classes via Classpass. So far, no disappointments! All the instructors are extremely supportive (Jan's a funny guy) and helpful. The classes are pretty accessible for most folks, but the barrier to entry is smaller if you're physically in shape. Did my first (sloppy) muscle up at the gym this weekend, which felt a lot better than finding your 1RM on a heavy lift. :-) I'll update this a few months into my membership.

The…read moreonly class that fit my schedule was the pilates one, which I've never tried before, so when the instructor was sorting the class into regulars and beginners, I was a little confused about how I should identify. It's been years since I did Antigravity, but I still remember many of the moves and cues. The actual studio is easy to find. There's plenty of space to store belongings and restrooms in which to change in and shower. This particular instructor was very New Yorker--stern with a sarcastic attitude, which I personally find amusing, and I know it's all from a place of keeping all the students safe. Class was fun overall, and I would definitely come back again next time I'm in NYC.

We're not new to the apparatus but it's been a while so we were happy to check out an intro class. It was very easy to sign up online. First intro class is only $25 for a 75 minute class. It was easy to check in upon arrival and we got a brief intro to the studio and where we needed to go. Rachel was a great instructor and lead us with a thorough warm up and introduction to the aerial hammock. Her cuing was immaculate and she was able to meet and honor each and every student at wherever they are, which was much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to return to take other classes here and may pop in again next time I'm in town.

So I booked With excitement. Unfortunately, I had a prior therapeutic appointment for my shoulder pain and was advised to not use my shoulder for the rest of the night. I walked to this establishment, as I wanted to see if it would be limited use of my shoulder and arrived 30 mins in advance of the class start time. I wanted let them know that I may not be able to take the class but was willing to try but needed some more info. The lady at the desk was SUPER rude and snarky stating that she didn't know and said she only took that class once. When I asked if I could possible come back tomorrow as I was in town for two more days, She then proceeded to tell me that I took a spot that could have been used and they don't allow that making sure I understood I wasted a space in that persons class. She eventually changed her mind and credited me after chastising me about taking a spot. Another WONDERFUL woman interjected and was so helpful. She taught one of the hoop classes. She was wonderful. I will WASTE that $25 after that experience and will not be back. There are to many places like this around and if they treat you like that as a NEW CLIENT, I could only imagine how they would treat you if you're a regular. Funny thing, I've owned my own boutique fitness studio in Westchester for the last 15 years and would NEVER treat a client/new client this way. People like this ruin a lot of good things, you never know what people are going through but professionalism is a virtue in a costumer based business.
