This is one of the friendliest & most accommodating optometry places I've ever been to! My eyes aren't that bad... so I don't really ever pay attention to anything that has to do with vision or ever really get my eyes checked since the last time I got checked I had 20/20 vision. So I didn't really know what my vision insurance from work covered since it was my first time using it and I was only really going to get "prescription" sunglasses... So after finding this optometry office through a work health fair, I thought I should swing by to see if what my work insurance would cover since I heard we had a pretty good vision plan. So I called during my lunch break to see if I could get some prescription sunglasses. Since I didn't know my exact prescription but warned them that I didn't have any corrective issues , Kevin was very accommodating and quickly scheduled an eye exam to see what could be done. I was kind of nervous when I went in as I didn't really know what my insurance covered, and didn't want to be vamboozled. But as soon as I told them my information and they found me in some sort of system, instead of them just quickly telling me what I was eligible for... Kevin printed my plan out and went over everything that was covered and everything that was not really necessary since it would be coming out of my own pocket. Any questions that I had were totally answered in normal people language too, so that was really nice! thumbs up! The Dr. who performed my eye exam was super sweet & very friendly. She was very quick and thorough too! I think I found my new Optometrist for my annual checkups! Double thumbs up! I ended up having the bare minimum prescription needed to get my insurance to pay for my new Tory Burch sunglasses woohoo! I guess I was kind of glad to hear my vision wasn't perfect anymore for this reason because I only ended up having to pay $30 for a nice pair of sunglasses for the upcoming summer! WOOHOO Anyone who wants great service from super friendly & accommodating staff should definitely come here! Only negative is its in the same parking lot as Ranch 99 & Sam Woo... so you know what that means.... a parking lot full of BAD Asian drivers that do NOT know how to park! Came in, came out happy. I called in earlier in the morning to ask about repairing my glasses (the lens popped out of the frame) and I asked if there was a charge for it. The receptionist told me to come swing by so they could take a look. I went during my lunch break, told my story, and in the next 10 minutes, my glasses WAS AS GOOD AS NEW. I came here for an eye exam. My appointment was right at opening time. The staff seemed SO awake and super cheerful. It was a just a litttttle unexpected because I, myself, take awhile to acclimate from being out of bed and at work. ANYWAYS, the front desk lady immediately greeted me with a smile and checked me in. I waited maybe about 5 minutes after my paperwork was done before a guy from the back came out. He prepped me before my examination with Dr. Fan by making me look into this microscope device to read some letters (sorry for the lack of terminology). And then off to the examination room I went! Dr. Fan was friendly (just like the staff outside...maybe even more), knowledgeable, thorough but quick! I guess I had that look of spacing out since the information was delivered so concisely and quickly, she began and had no problem repeating herself. So that was great since....yeah, I did space out, heh heh. I got my prescription, and left extremely satisfied with the overall experience. read more

I had ongoing watery eyes that would not go away with allergy pills. One morning, I woke up with thick crust on both eyes and thought it was a time to see an eye doctor. I found Golden Vision Optometry on Yelp and I'm glad I did. I saw Dr. Yu. She was gentle and thorough. She told me I was experiencing dry eyes. Who knew?! She explained very well and recommended an eye drop as well as home treatments: warm compress followed by eye lids massage and omega-3. I followed her recommendation and my eyes got better in 2 days. I've been coming here for my ortho-k lenses for the past 4 years and I've been very happy with the doctors. They are all so nice and take the time to talk to you during the exam so you don't focus on the fact that you're being poked and prodded at in your eyes. They've always been very helpful so big thanks to the amazing doctors. The front staff has been great and helpful as well (esp Karina and Henry). They always take the time to explain all the costs and insurance and shenanigans to me. The only thing I would have to say is that the wait times can be crazy bananas if you're not on time to your appointment. Last time I went, I was a few minutes early (huge shocker) and was helped immediately. The previous times however, I probably went in like 5 minutes late (maybe later sometimes hehe ;)) and would always be waiting and waiting and waiting. So be on time to your appointments! I'm sure it helps them out a lot and it'll save you from waiting extra. read more

I honestly hate going to doctors because the visits just aren't fun. I hadn't been to an optometrist in maybe 2 years. Seeing as Golden Vision has some good reviews and takes my HMO insurance I made my appointment. They were a little booked up but that's okay I did not mind putting off seeing a doctor. I'm not sure if it is just my GPS but I had a little bit of a difficult time finding this place because the plaza is a big circle and the store is not too noticeable. The parking was just terrible even on a week day morning. Upon entering the office seemed like an average office. The waiting area has couches and chairs. The front desk helped check me in. They did see me right on time which is always nice. I was first seen with one of the assistants. He did the routine screenings and tests. My only gripe about this was that when they were doing the tests the tables did not raise of lower you had to lower the chair you were sitting in. I'm normal height and had to hunch down to reach all of the machines. I can't imagine if someone was taller than me.. The doctor I saw was Dr Yu. She was so friendly and helpful. The exam itself was tough but that is just because eye exams are not fun. She did provide plenty of guidance with picking the best contacts to fit my eyes and that were cost efficient so I could tell she was not just trying to get me to pay more. I left with a trial pair so I could test them out. I called today to order some contacts but the front office has not been up to par. I called at 11 am and the guy just said he would need to call me back because everyone was busy. I called again a few hours later and spoke to a woman who said she could help me but did not seem to understand my questions or how to make the correct order. So after spending a total of 10 minutes on the phone I did not get my order and I have to wait to speak to Dr Yu. Overall the doctors seem to be the saving grace of this place. They are the most important part of the practice but the supporting staff could use some training. read more

I was a bit hesitant at first since I live out of state. But it worked out fine since I visit California every year and you only get your vision checkup once a year! I received the best service and that's not an exaggeration! All of my questions were answered and my visions were in trusted hands. I got helped from HENRY and he helped me with everything from giving great advice on how to better care for my eyes and picking out the perfect pair of glasses for me. He cares for my vision health such as giving me pointers on how to take care of my vision. I was very disappointed. Prescription was way off. They said upon picking up my overpriced glasses that I had a astigmatism. Not so. I think they made a mistake., with another customer. I could not see out of these very pricey glasses. I asked for a refund, and they said it would be a 20% restocking fee! For glasses I could not see out of . So 1 wk later I rcvd the correct pair . But I paid for a protective lenses coating. In 4 days they were already a scratched - a very cheap product. Hood winked by a living social deal, the only bad one I've ever had. DO NOT GO HERE. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, LIKE THIS PLACE! I've been to four different optometrist before coming to this place, and I am EXTREMELY please with not only the quality of patient care, but also the quality of customer service. I scheduled an appointment over the phone and when I came in they somehow lost my appointment. I was pretty upset at first, but they were accommodating and told me that they would squeeze me in. I did have to wait for a little bit longer, but I feel that most places would have asked you to reschedule your appointment. I have VSP and they charged me about $60 for my eye exam, which I think is pretty cheap. I remember their eye exams ranging from $60-$120, and if you bring you old prescription, they will make the cost as low as possible. They really try to find the best deal for your glasses and/or contacts. They also help you with rebate forms and answer questions about insurance. Dr. Gita did my eye exam and described in detail the process and the condition of my eyes. She is extremely knowledgeable and really takes time to not only get to know her clients, but also ensure that they understand their eyes. This definitely has been the best experience I've had with any optometrist! read more

They are very prompt into getting you in on time for your appointment. I have seen both Doctors there, Chang and Fan, and both are awesome Doctors. They are very through with their examinations and never make you feel rushed. The front staff is very nice also, explaining what is covered or not covered by my insurance and what "upgrades" I should or should not get. I've been going here for for almost a year now and continue to be a patient here. I just wish they had a cheaper selection of Oakley glasses however. read more

My regular eye doctor had no availability til next week so I decided to try Dr. Chang. I called for an appointment and was pleasantly surprised with the friendly front desk gal. Probably one the friendliest person I've come across over the phone. That's a huge plus! My husband has his own practice and I always complain to him about his front desk people not being friendly! (Even to me as the owner's wife!) I had some tests done for the first time which was pretty cool. I felt relieved after learning the results from these new machines. Dr. Chang was very thorough and caring, I didn't feel like she was pushing me out of her office because my time was up. She was friendly yet professional. Golden Vision rocks and I'm recommending them to everyone I know, whether or not they've already got a go-to optometrist. I came here because my old optometrist recently moved locations. Since Golden Vision is covered by VSP and their reviews on Yelp were solid, I decided to give them a try. I actually arrived 15 min late for my scheduled appointment, but they didn't give me any hassle and I still got to see the doc within minutes. Dr Chang's ridiculously efficient and thorough - she covered a lot of ground in her diagnosis and answered all my questions but I hardly noticed the time, maybe cuz she speaks so quickly. A guy on staff helped me to pick out my new glasses and, for no charge, he cleaned up & repaired two old pairs of glasses while I was looking around. I called to see if they had any openings for same day eye exam appointments and to find out if they took my insurance but was told by the male receptionist that they couldn't look up my insurance info without my ID number. So I asked if he could use my last 4 of my social and he said sure, so I gave him my info and was immediately told he wasn't able to look it up and if I could just make an appointment the following day instead. I told him I had another optometrist look it up about 5 mins prior who had no issues. He clearly didn't want to help and insisted I make an appointment the following day. All in all I am actually happy I was turned away and instead I ended up going to Lens Crafters who were very friendly, helpful, and professional. I am glad this happened prior to going to Golden Vision so that I do not waste my time going to a place with people who do not care and have lazy customer service. Working in the medical field I find it important to value patient centeredness and it starts with the first phone call! read more

I am a first time patient here and was a last-minute walk in. Not only was Dr. Chang willing to see me, she spent extensive time evaluating my eyes and fitted me for contacts. They happened to have a machine I have never seen before that is able to take a picture of my eye without dilation. The pictures revealed all of my eye rather than only a portion near the center of my eye. Upon looking at my right eye, Dr. Chang saw a small tear. She consulted with Dr. Yu, a retinal specialist to also look at my eyes. I feel that it was meant to be that I went to Golden Vision Optometry today and that they would catch this. They were all very patient in answering my questions. I found everyone here to be very friendly and professional. read more

I waited for some time as it was expected, but not too bad. My medical treatment was done by Dr. Fan, she is very professional and so friendly. I actually found this office on google while desperately searching for an optometrist a few years back. Not having insurance coverage and being blind as a bat is not a good position to be in. I was a full time student and was not exactly looking to drop over $300 bucks on glasses(as necessary as they may be). Anyway, On my initial visit the staff was VERY friendly. Its always nice to see that people enjoy what they do. The doctor and office staff answered all of my questions and aside from the awful yellow jaundice looking drops its was a great experience. Everything was reasonably priced from the visit to the Ray-Ban frames i picked out. I picked up my glasses a week later and they were great quality. On with my life... Two years later, i have vision insurance and worsening vision... I'm scrolling through my vision coverage providers and sure enough there's golden vision. PHEW! I called to make an appointment, gave them my name and new insurance info and had an appointment booked for that same week within two minutes. Is that easy or what? On the day of my appointment I filled out the forms on their website just in case, got to the office and was seen within five minutes. The doctor explained to me that they were changing my prescription and answered all of my questions. When it came to picking new frames, the girl that helped me could not have been more accommodating. I probably had her sitting there for 45 minutes trying on every pair of spectacles in the office. She sat there while i took selfies and sent them to my boyfriend for approval. If that's not patience i don't know what is. She went over my insurance coverage with me, broke down the cost and recommended what would be best for me. I didn't feel forced into paying too much, or picking the most expensive items. Overall, this was a great experience. I will definitely continue coming here and refer my friends and family. I suggest you all do the same! Oh! and not that it was necessary for me but their staff is bilingual, trilingual, i don't even know how many languages i heard in there! read more

WHEN I CALLED i was told I would be charged $70- 90 for contact lens exam after they ran my insurance . when I get there they said I already had a eye exam and the insurance would NOT covered because eye exam are for every 2 years. which was fine because I wanted a CONTACT LENS EXAM. then he says well i have to charge you $145!! which didn't make any sense since I've had an eye exam and nothing from my eye exam changed and also I didn't need any specially made contacts. 2 weeks later I called in about 4x already asking them to email me my prescription and when they finally sent my prescription via email, it was only for GLASSES, ( i ONLY asked for CONTACT LENS) remind you my appt. was in JULY!!! then 2 days ago I called in again to get my prescription sent for CONTACT LENS and I didn't get it!!! also asked if they offer me anymore trial pair of contacts. the young boy said" i will have them order you a trial pair just to get you by" , I thought that was pretty nice considering all the frustrations they put me through. BUT THEN i called today and the Lady who orders the LENS told me they can't give any trials pairs... I'm extremely frustrated with GOLDEN VISION OPTOMETRY... the doctor I went to was extremely NICE which was a plus but the staff is horrible with customer service. Wide variety of great styles for glasses, no doubt. But, don't count on them to refund you anything. I got my first pair of glasses because I sit in front of a computer all day and I received very bad headaches. They once informed me I can return them with a 10% restocking fee. Later, they told me they were non refundable even though the glasses still gave me headaches. Quite disappointing considering these were my first pair of glasses and I spent 300$ for nothing. When it comes to customer service, I agree with many of the other reviewers that both the front-desk staff as well as the optometrist are very friendly and helpful. I've only been here twice for my annual exam, and on both visits, the staff has been extremely helpful and accommodating in answering all my questions about my vision insurance plan, eligibility, pricing, etc. The optometrist is also very thorough in her exam. As a bonus, they don't use that weird machine that puffs air into your eye! Anyone with glasses or contacts knows what I'm talking about...you know, that machine that measures your eye pressure or something. It feels awful and let's face it, its kind of scary! But anyway, I gave this place 3 stars not 4 or 5 because of the price. I called some different optometrists in San Gabriel Valley, albeit they are much farther away from this area, and found out that with my vision insurance plan, a contact exam plus fitting is only supposed to be charged the co-pay; but what I ended up paying here at Golden Vision was my copay plus $60. Little did I know! So yes, long story short, "you get what you pay for" - here, the service is great and staff is knowledgable, BUT you do pay a premium for it. read more

My whole family goes to Golden Vision probably for almost 8 yrs now. Then when my boys needed an eye exam, we met Dr. Jennie Fan ( super nice and professional! ). She introduced Ortho-K ( contact lens that you wear while you sleep at night and gently reshapes your cornea ) My 12 yrs. old son is on his 3rd yr now using it and never have to wear eyeglasses! My 9 yrs old son just started using it this summer. Today, we went there for routine check and guess what, they have this new machine that scans your eyes in seconds! Its an Optomap ( ultra-wide digital retinal imaging ), w/c I will say is preventative and will benefit adults and children alike to detect a disease even before you have the signs and symptoms. Examples of these are stroke, diabetes and some forms of cancer. Who doesn't want to have a healthy vision, everybody does, right? So, I highly recommend Golden Vision , Dr. Jennie Fan will take care of you! Also, the staff at the front are very helpful and polite ( Nancy and the group ). A+ for costumer satisfaction!
