I wish we had had the great experience other people have had. For 715 dollars, I would have thought we would (bodice adjustment, hem of one underskirt and attachment of tissue for a draped sleeve.) On our first appointment- more than a month before the wedding, we went over what we wanted (draped sleeve, fitted bodice). I bought the dress a size too large so it could be perfectly fit for my daughter. When we came to get the dress, instead of a draped sleeve, the tissue and been tacked under the arm with two streamers hanging down. But the worst thing was- the bodice was so tight we could not close it. They said they would fix it ( now bear in mind, my daughter had actually lost weight since her first fitting.) So she starved herself- worried the dress would not fit at the next fitting - a WEEK before the wedding. I bought a second dress, just in case, since I couldn't have had her walk down the aisle in the dress as it turned up the first time. The second time the sleeves were correct and the dress sort of fit. Unfortunately, it was still so tight she almost fainted at the wedding and we did an emergency shift in dresses- thank God we had the extra dress. For 715 dollars for alterations I would have expected much better. I thought with reviews, such as they have, I would have had a better experience. But I did not. Simply the best in the Tri-Valley. I contacted them through Yelp, and they responded! At 10 pm at night! I was able to come in the next day to try on so they can alter sequins pants that were too big and too long for me. Very friendly, polite, and respectful when pinning the pants and measuring. I needed it for a holiday party and I work in the Livermore TriValley area but live in Solano County so I needed it by end of the day Friday. They were done in 2 days, morning of 2nd day I could have picked it up!!!! I tried them on, and they checked the new forums and said they can still alter more and be ready if there were adjustments needed. There were none needed! It was so perfect! I wish I took pictures of my outfit but I only got upper body pictures lol The shop was very nice and clean. I had my wedding dress altered at Golden Thread Alterations after the first place I went to quoted me almost twice the price of what I paid here. I fell in love with a sample dress from Brides for a Cause that was in rough shape. I needed a fairy godmother to save this dress, and Mrs. Kim made it happen! The dress had loose beads, worn applique, rips in the lace, and fit issues in the top, but after the first alteration the dress was near perfect! I couldn't even find where the rips in the lace used to be. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work, they were excited to show me how much the dress had improved after the first fitting. We had 2 fittings, and a week before the wedding I wanted to make a few additional changes and they were very accommodating. They were very polite and professional when communicating and during the appointments. Scheduling appointments were easy as well and they were very cognizant of my need by date. They were great at communicating via Yelp message and we were finally able to set up a time for me to swing by. Though the guy was friendly, I was turned off by an incident that happened while I was there. First, I was quoted ridiculously high costs to alter a top where the sleeves were a tad long and the neckline was a bit low. I recall being told it was $30.... Per alteration of the 1 top (fixing the neck line was $30 and adjusting the sleeves was $30). $60 in alteration for a shirt that I think was a third of that price?! This was the 2nd top I tried on as the first one they also quoted me $30. So for 2 tops, altering them would cost me $90 for just literally a couple of inches. I know alterations aren't cheap but this is ridiculous. Second, the quotes above came AFTER the mom checked the top and adjustments needed, said something to her son in their language (which is really rude to do in front of customers), and they both laughed. It felt pretty obvious they were quoting ridiculously high as they knew I wouldn't want to get the work done for those prices. My clothes were not big enough jobs for them, is what I got from this. It's ok to not want my business but treat people with some respect and have some sense of decorum. Nobody should feel the way I did when I left. read more

Grateful to Kim for being so accommodating when my daughter from out of state was on a tight schedule. I had a pants that my boyfriend wanted tailored and he was out of town and with his busy schedule he didn't have time to go to an appointment. luckily I came across this place on Yelp and reached out for a possibility to tailor to a similar cut of a pants he already owned. Found this lovely place on Yelp, called and set an appointment. Went in next day, taken to a fitting room, and when it was time to put the dress on- OOOPS! I brought the wrong bag with me! Soooo embarrassing. (I'm about 45 min away... was stopping there on my way home from work.) Well- They were gracious and said I could go get it and come back. Done. I told them in needed it within the next 4 days. They had it ready in 2 ... what a relief! No matter where you go, I don't recommend waiting til the last minute to get anything altered... they were quick for me, but you could see they were busy. I had contacted a different alteration shop closer to me first, but they were so busy they needed at least 2 weeks notice... I'm glad, tho. I liked this place much better ! Lol Bring the shoes you're going to wear with your outfit. It helps. Parking is slim in downtown Livermore... I had to park down the street each time I went. Needed alterations on my maid of honor dress for my sister's wedding. The rooms were clean and spacious. The lady was very sweet and was quick while she was taking the measurements. She quickly explained the process. Honestly, I was in and out in about 15 minutes. So lucky I found this spot! It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's worth it. I brought in a bridesmaid dress about 3 weeks before I needed it. I made an appointment easily through communicating on Yelp. I walked in and tried on the dress. They told me the only thing that looked like it needed alterations was the length. I told them the date I needed it by, and they gave me an estimated date, which was a couple days before my deadline. It was ready exactly when they said it would be and it was the perfect length! It was a bit pricier than expected, but it was because the dress itself was 3 layers of different material, so I was definitely fine with that. It looked beautiful! I am so happy I found them! I decided last minute that I wanted to do a first look in a qipao. When the dress came in, it was not flattering! I took it to Golden Threads and they pretty much had to redo the entire dress. Take out some areas and bring in others. I only had a month and a half to get it done and she assured me it was doable. Great experience and super speedy turn around! Brought in 2 dresses for alterations. One dress was a sample size that was a bit of a tight squeeze to zip up filly so they suggested I add a corset tie in the back to allow me to expand the dress if needed. By the time it came to my wedding date, the dress zipped up perfectly and the ties were no longer needed but I still appreciated the option! For my other dress, I requested custom arm bands using the excess fabric from the alterations and Mrs. Kim was able to do so and add some banding to help it stay up! Golden Thread Alterations saved the day and changed my perspective from questioning my dress choice to loving it even more than I did when I first chose it. I had picked up my wedding dress from last fitting on a Friday the weekend before my wedding. I felt my dress was too lose but the seamstress at the bridal shop didn't seem to think so and was also booked up to alter it further. On the first picture (on the left) I'm holding the excess by pulling it back and it still looks big. The middle picture is after Golden Thread altered my dress. They took me in right away that Friday and put extra effort and time in having my dress done on time and even finished before their original ETA so that we would have time to fix anything else if needed.
