I've been going to this dentist since I was little. Dr. G. was my dentist for many years, and now his son, Dr. Alec, has been my dentist for the past couple of years. Dr. Alec is very quick and efficient when it comes to dental work, and he is always so kind and friendly. He genuinely cares about his patients and does a great job with his work. I used to be terrified of going to the dentist, but after coming here for a while, I'm not nearly as scared anymore! The entire staff is always welcoming and makes me feel comfortable. The office is also always clean and well maintained. They also accept Medi-Cal, which is a huge plus. I spent months searching for a dentist who accepted Medi-Cal and ended up finding Golden State Dental simply because it was close to my house. I definitely lucked out. My previous dentist was very elderly and outdated, so I was really impressed by how comfortable and modern this office is compared to what I was used to. What started as an initial routine checkup with a new dentist ended in one of the best decisions I've yet to make for myself. After my cleaning, Dr. Alec asked me a question I don't remember having ever been asked by a dentist before. "How do you feel about your smile?" You could tell it wasn't just some rehearsed question to wrap up the appointment with, but something he authentically wanted to know. Recalling all the moments I've conscientiously hid my coffee and smoke stained jagged teeth in photos, at social gatherings, and on dates, it was hard to respond with anything positive. Although my teeth were functional and definitionally clean, they were far from anything I could say I was proud of. This office is excellent. I like that they're very efficient with time. I checked in at 10, got seated at 10:01, and was good to go by 10:55. Dr. Christine is very kind and knowledgeable. In addition to checking my teeth, she checked my TMJ, gums, jawbone, tongue, palate, and screened me for oral cancer. One of her unique qualities is that she understands how things like mental health, busy lifestyles, and EDs affect your teeth. This made my visit feel very safe and non-judgmental, and I 100% trust her honest treatment plan. The dental assistant also was very experienced, so getting X-rays didn't bother me at all. I've lived all over the United States and this is by far the best Dentist office I've ever been to. Everyone is super friendly and make sure you're comfortable at all times. While they're working on you, they give you wireless headphones to put on so you can watch whatever you'd like on the TV that's mounted near the ceiling. I walked in after setting up an appointment with no expectations as this was the first time using Golden State Dental. I hadn't received any dental treatment for like 7 years before this appointment and my teeth were turning brown and honestly I thought they were rotting away. Dr. Alec Garoian brought me in, X-Rayed my mouth, and sat me in his chair where a conveniently placed TV (pretty much on the ceiling) distracted me from the services Dr. Garoian was about to perform. One hour after my teeth cleaning, Dr. Garoian picked up a mirror and told me to look at my teeth. White. Sparkling White. I was honestly amazed to see the difference and I really wish I took a before and after picture so that you all could see the difference Dr. Garoian made. I was incredibly nervous returning to see a dentist after neglecting visiting the dentist during COVID time. Dr. Alec Garoian was quickly able to help me feel at ease. He had to do a root canal (my very first one) and he did a wonderful job. I was very pleased. We then discussed the crowding on my front, lower teeth. Due to that crowding, my toothbrush could not reach certain areas. The only time that area was fully cleaned was during my dental visits and that in fact did bother me a great deal.
