I had been searching for a dentist closer to home as I had previously commuted to Diamond Bar and Fullerton. Both places, my cleanings would be a "feels like forever" uncomfortable process- my body tense and just holding my breath during sensitive sections. After reading all the reviews, I decided to try this office out. As soon as I walked in, I am greeted by name, not "what's your name?" The person who walked me into the room made me feel comfortable as I told her about all my anxiety about the dentist. At this point, I hadn't seen the dentist in a year and was overdue on cleanings. After baseline xrays and photos were taken, Dr. Rosales explained everything thoroughly. He explained the xrays and what he saw and explained why I had sensitivity issues not just that its a common thing to have snesitivities to hot/cold. Dr. Rosales also explained the plan moving forward and what he thought would be best to get on track. Before any treatment were rendured, I was explained the cost and wasn't pressured into anything I didn't feel comfortable doing. Even when I told Dr. that I was told I was due for a deep cleaning, he said he would check xrays to ensure that was needed. The deep cleaning could wait. (Yess!!) Fast forward to my cleaning appt. I'm a hot mess, anxious, but the team ensured I would be fine. The dental hygenist (amy?) was so chill and made me feel more at ease. It wasn't the typical "sit here, open your mouth"... we talked and she distracted me. She placed numbing medication all around my gums and I didn't feel anything. I got so emotional. The first time ever in my life, I wasn't holding my breath, gripping my hands, or sweating during a teeth cleaning. This right here, has changed everything. This is the dentist for life. They make you feel so welcomed, like family, not just another person/chart to have cleaning or procedures. There, the dentist was able to treat the tooth with a regular filling and advised that a root canal and crown were not necessary. He was extremely gentle, kind, and patient as he examined my tooth. He explained everything clearly, including the condition of my crown and why the tooth needs to be extracted. He also prescribed antibiotics right away to help with the infection and pain. From start to finish, I felt heard, reassured, and genuinely cared for. It's not often you find a dentist who combines skill with compassion, but Dr. Muntean does exactly that. I have teeth sensitivity and they used warm water to rinse so it didn't hurt. I hate injections and it was not bad at all, I think a steady hand helps and the topical lidocaine. I feel confident in my oral health that I can have healthy teeth for many years to come. The dental assistants are kind too. They provide sunglasses and a menu of other comfort items like neck pillow and aroma therapy. I can tell they try to make it a comfortable experience as possible and provide honest care.

A place even Grandma will love!…read more Okay, okay, so I'm 70 years old (not sure how this happened). And I've been around the block, lemme tell you ... I had a dentist I loved, and then he suddenly disappeared. I showed up on Monday morning for my appointment, and all new signage was up. I asked the staff, and they had no idea. He'd just literally sold the business overnight and moved on. To this day we still don't know what happened. I didn't feel great about having a dentist take over that I was unfamiliar with, but it seemed to be okay. Then over and over, he kept recommending procedures that didn't seem necessary. He wanted cleanings every 4 months for no apparent reason. Then every other month he wanted to do a deep cleaning. I was constantly pressured to see their "preferred" periodontist. Every time I turned around, they needed to re-do a filling or re-do a cap. It just seemed weird. So I went for a second opinion, and that dentist told me "You don't need a cap, you just need to replace a filling. I was in-and-out, no hassle, no pressure, no fuss. Still puzzled, I began to research dental scams. I ran across a dentist from the east coast, and on his video, he outlined the top 10 dental scams. The old dentist had recommended 9 of those procedures! The video also used the example that if a dentist only makes $100 profit on a filling, but can make $2500 profit on a cap, the scam is to talk you into a cap. Wow. So I thought it'd be a great idea to find a nonprofit, because surely they wouldn't be into these scams. I found one I liked, and I love supporting nonprofits! They were okay for a little while. Then when I went in for routine x-rays and a cleaning, the dentist only cleaned 5 of my teeth??? I was puzzled when he said that was all that was needed. Seems I'd found the other end of the spectrum. On the one end was a guy who was recommending 9 unnecessary procedures, and on the other end, the guy only wanted to clean 5 of me teeth. aye aye aye Frustrated, I began to research again. I found Sunset Dental Arts and I liked the reviews. I gave them a try this afternoon. Clean bill of health, and no unnecessary procedures. (Imagine that.) They were warm, friendly, efficient ... and hey ... the dentist smiled and said, "We'll be cleaning ALL your teeth today." LOL! Couldn't ask for more that that! She explained everything and made me as comfortable as possible. She is stellar. They have all this SUPER modern equipment: - Stand up x-ray that does not only your teeth but jaw bone to see if there are any cancers, or thing issues percolating related to your teeth - They have hand held xray machines which is the most comfortable way to xray teeth EVER - She also has a hand held camera that she used to take pictures of my potential problem areas - Instead of using the overhead lamp, she had glasses fitted with a lamp - She offered me darkened sunglasses so it was way more comfortable The room is well equipped, even with two sinks at one station. The chair is quite comfortable. I shared with Alexis that a cleaning I had done last month was so bad, felt like I was drowning and upchucked water 2x. She held the water extractor (saliva) and moved it with her as she worked. She also did the cleaning with the (forgot the name) but with water power behind it, but afterwards did manual scaling by hand. She finished off with flouride seal on my teeth and flossed all my teeth and everything was smooth after she was done. Dr. Kyle Nishimura was excellent. He wanted to address any concern areas I had. He also explained why I was not a candidate for veneers due to my teeth condition. He showed me some problem areas that needed to be monitored and he did not pressure me for extra services. I ended up needing a night mouth guard, they had a scanner / hand held that takes 1000's of pics per second that created an exact replica of my teeth and bites (both upper and lower). - Amazing technology The front desk staff is also very kind and welcoming. I myself needed a new crown so I scheduled myself, too. First, I got a basic exam and teeth cleaning by Kelly. She was easy going and professional, and that part went (relatively) painless. I had gone to another place a few years back that practically butchered my mouth and made it hard to eat for a few days, so it was nice having someone who knew what she was doing. Afterwards, Dr. Tanaka took a look at my tooth with the missing crown and made a few recommendations, explaining both to me and the assistant/resident/student (I mean no disrespect, just not sure) what he wanted to do and why. I felt absolutely confident that I was getting the best possible care.
