It was conveniently located to where my aunt was living and in a nice shopping area so we were able to walk around after. The food was really good and authentic! They also started blending something (possibly the smoothies they make) during lunch time so it made it hard for us to hear each other. My Pad Kee Mao noodles were asked to be made spicy and they delivered! It was SO good. Customer service is incredible here. Golden Seven is a Chinese and Thai restaurant with two locations in Gwinnett County: Duluth and Suwanee. This review is for Golden Seven II located next door to Planet Smoothie at Suwanee Town Center (City Hall). The business opened in 2011. Town Center opened in 2009. I think this is an OK place for Chinese and Thai food. The restaurant consists of a single dining room and bar that can seat approximately 50 people (guesstimate). The atmosphere is casual, but the place does have some sophistication to it. The dimly lit space has a chandelier, white tablecloths, dark furniture, a stone wall, and Asian decor including bamboo, a Thai wooden statue, Thai elephant tapestries, and a Chinese scroll. Despite the interior, this is a lot like a Chinese takeout and delivery joint, complete with those quad-fold paper menus with over 100 dishes to choose from. What sets Golden Seven apart from the other guys are the numerous Thai cuisine options and bubble tea smoothie offerings. They stock about a dozen bubble tea smoothie flavors, all of which are displayed at the bar in powder jars. Chinese and Thai lunch specials, all priced under $10, are available Monday-Friday, 11am-3pm; and weekends, 12pm-3pm. They do takeout and delivery and also have a "Two for $20" dine-in deal. From a basic and limited selection, you can choose one appetizer, two entrees, and get a small slice of mocha cake for dessert for $20. This is a good deal when you consider most entrees run about $10-20 each at dinnertime. I've tried three items: * Sesame Chicken ($10.95) * Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles, $10.95) * Panang Curry Duck ($16.95) The Sesame Chicken is quite good. Yes, it's an Americanized/Westernized Chinese food, but it's a classic. Golden Seven pulls it off well with generous portions of fried, crispy, and sweet dark meat chicken thighs and fresh, green broccoli. This item is one of a half-dozen available as part of the aforementioned Two for $20 special. The Pad Kee Mao is good as well. The version I had came with tofu, but you can choose chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, or vegetarian too. This Thai noodle dish reminds me of Cantonese chow fun because of its wide rice noodles, brown sauce, and appetizing, savory, and almost smoky flavors. This is a tasty and satisfying stir-fried noodle dish that I think most people would enjoy. I found the Panang Curry Duck to be somewhat disappointing, mediocre at best. While the panang curry was fine in both taste and texture, there was very little duck meat. What duck there was was mostly fatty. Yeah, I know Asian duck is fatty around the skin, but the the fat in this batch seemed excessive. The plate amounted to curry, a tiny bit of lean duck meat, duck fat, and a lot of onion and bell pepper. The mocha cake is smooth, chocolaty, and yummy. I'm updating my review for Golden Seven. This restaurant in Suwanee Towncenter is my go to Thai spot in the area. I'm always so surprised that this place isn't packed out when I come. We came again last night for dinner and there was only one table filled. While we were dining one additional customer came in. This is such a hidden gem. For me it's tough to find solid Thai restaurants near me. I have few favorites and Golden Seven is one of them. They also serve Chinese dishes. Everything that I've tried here so far has been delicious, generous in portion including vegetables and protein, and freshly made. Appreciated that all the dishes came out hot and our eggroll was freshly fried. Last night we ordered shrimp fried eggrolls, Drunken Noodles with shrimp, Green Curry with shrimp, and Basil Rummit Special they had displayed on the special board as soon as you walked in. The Rummit Special came with chicken, beef, and shrimp. Every thing we ordered was flavorful! Very good balanced flavors. Love how generous the Drunken noodle dish and Basil Rummit was. It was so good! Loved the rich flavor and sauce base of the Basil Rummit. I always love their green curry here too. Wish it came with a bit more of the curry base. My honey and i stopped by this place during our excursion to downtown Suwanee for their Friday Night Food Truck event. It's located in the Suwanee Downtown Square near Mellow Mushroom, and parking can be hit or miss depending on what's going on. For this particular night, parking was tougher to find than Waldo in a Candy Cane store. This location serves both Chinese and Thai cuisine, for those that just can't decide their taste buds. They have a very broad menu of options, so that is a plus. You walk in, and notice it's a very small restaurant but they make it work with the bar on the left hand side and enough tables to seat around 40-45 people. I did like the ambiance, and the chandelier in the center. The chairs were over-sized and comfy as well. This place mentions on the front that they are Yelp friendly, and they do have a check-in offer of two spring rolls with purchase of $20 or more. Make sure to ask which Spring Roll is included with the check-in, as we had a small problem with that but they fixed it. We started off with the Thai Basil Rolls, as we both love them, and a beer/glass of wine. Our favorite place serves them up in 6 bite size pieces. This location serves two long rolls,w which is equivalent to 6+ smaller portions. I liked the rolls, but the plum sauce they served with it was lacking in punch, and they don't have a peanut sauce to serve with it. That was a fail for my honey. The Spring Rolls we received for free with the check-in were just ok. They didn't have much flavor, and i had to coat mine with the duck sauce for it to be semi-edible. I'm glad we didn't pay for them. Our service was decent for this experience. My meal was the Thai Fried Rice with chicken, and i did enjoy that. It wasn't the best, and i wouldn't drive out of my way for it but it hit the spot. DISCLAIMER: My review is based on a delivery order - I have never gone to Golden Seven Two to eat in. This was my first time ordering from them. First off, although the food took a long time to get to me, it wasn't without warning. The food came exactly on time - granted, it was an hour after I ordered it. The ordering process was made very simple through Yelp so I won't be reviewing that either. First the positives: The portions were extremely generous and the prices were very fair. This was the only place I found (though I did not search super extensively) that did not charge me extra for fried rice. *Side note: The portions for the chicken wings were not extremely generous. In fact, I found it pretty pathetic for the pricepoint. But the General Tsao & the lo mein were super filling. The General Tsao basically looked like soup when I got it so I was not surprised that chicken was super soggy - the texture felt far more boiled than fried (but I do love soggy broccoli - I know it's nasty ... don't ask me why). The lo mein also felt very soggy. I felt like there could have been more vegetables included in the lo mein as well. The wings tasted good but did not last very long as they were pretty tiny. New in town, We were wanting good Thai food. We Were actually sitting in our car out front trying to call in our order. After this girl hung up on me 3 times I called & asked for the manager & the same girl said "no the manager is busy". She also wouldn't tell her name but after I decided to go in & order I found she was the heavy (not Asian) girl with black hair at the front desk. Who again denied me seeing the manager. She continually argued & I just left & will NEVER go back because of her rudeness. This place has the Worse customer service i have ever experienced! Golden Seven used to be our go to restaurant for Chinese and Thai food. We have spent hundreds of dollars with them during our time in Suwanee. I recently picked up an order only to have my daughter get sick shortly after eating some tofu and rice. Naturally, I returned the food- but did not point fingers or blame the restaurant. I told the owners that we typically trust their food. When I went to process the refund, a woman went on to insist that it could not be their food and that it must have been some other cause. That's where I went from a loyal customer to a former customer. All I wanted was a refund or credit. We would have put this behind us and enjoyed another visit. First indicator that you're not getting served fresh food-the smell of the restaurant. What I mean is, when you can't smell the food being prepared yet your dish comes out smoking hot, it's more than likely it's being reheated in the microwave. With that said, Golden Seven was an utter disappointment. My lunch consisted of: I had the ribs appetizer: they were more than a day old and over drenched in BBQ sauce - fail Steamed (microwave) dumplings appetizer with ice cold soy sauce - fail Entree- Shrimp in black bean sauce. Tiny shrimp and diced vegetables; I count 5 shrimp but again the dish was obviously prepared on Friday or Saturday - it was okay. Entree 2 General Tso chicken...never seen it prepared this way, wait yes I have--in the frozen food section of the grocery store. Second indicator that you're not getting fresh food: you can't smell the food that's set right in front of you. Granted, if I stuck my face into the place - I might get a slight whiff. Golden Seven Two is a nice little Chinese and Thai restaurant located in the Suwanee Town center. I came with a decent sized group that they were easily able to accommodate, which is a positive! Pointing out more positives, golden seven has some really delicious flavors while dining in. I ordered the Cashew nut chicken with steamed rice ($9.99) and the chicken was breast, tender and not chewy at all. But what really stole the show for me in this dish were the veggies in the accompanying sauce. They all were super fresh and popped with flavor, from the celery to the broccoli, and I typically don't like crunchy veggies in my Chinese, but man, tasty! Honorable mention goes to the sesame chicken that I tried, which was some of the best sesame chicken i'd had. Wow, you gotta order that! Another positive are the deals, like the two for $20 deal, which I did not get, but included an appetizer, a choice of an entree, and a small desert cake. Pretty sweet. Definitely don't forget to check in to get your two free spring rolls with a $20 purchase. On to the negatives for me...I also ordered a to go order of General Tso's chicken with fried rice ($11.99), which I didn't eat until the next day. I gotta say, the food (or at least the general Tso's) doesn't seem to hold up well to refrigeration, as the chicken breading was slightly mushy, I didn't like the flavor at all, and didn't finish it. The fried rice was simply okay. I ordered the two meals to take advantage of the two free spring rolls, but let this be a lesson guys....ask in advance for the free spring rolls, because they're smaller than the menu order rolls, and if you just order two spring rolls as I did in advance, they ain't free. The menu order spring rolls, if you're interested, are pretty tasty, and definitely larger, but the free rolls were simply okay, FYI. Customer service was hit or miss. It was very nice of them to give me a complimentary slice of cake for the mix up, and I really do appreciate when customer service goes the extra mile, but they at one point took the 2 for $20 deal menu right out of my hand when I told them I didn't have a plus one in the group I was with. I mean, I could've wanted to order both! I will be back to Golden Seven Two, if for no other reason than to try the amazing sesame chicken that I had (it really was that good ya'll. I hosted a Gwinnett UYE last year and never got around to reviewing them but have told countless friends to check them out in the past few months. They are your typical Chinese/Thai fusion restaurant. The food isn't spectacular but you definitely won't be disappointed with your menu options. Plenty of food per entree and it's easily accessible at the Suwanee Town Center. This is the second location of the "Golden Seven" restaurant duo and service here is fantastic. Full bar, great Asian themed decor, comfy seating and the staff is super friendly. Their 2 for $20 special is a great deal if you're open to sharing two entrees, splitting an appetizer and dessert. They also have great lunch specials. I'm a fan of their Moo Goo Gai Pan, Green Curry with Chicken, Pad See Wu with Tofu and their Sesame Chicken. Their Chinese menu options are never greasy and most entrees come with steamed white rice. If I'm ever craving Thai or Chinese and am at the Town Center, I'll definitely be returning with new friends in the future. Check them out if you haven't already! P.S. One Saturday afternoon, my siblings and I wanted to check out another restaurant in the Suwanee area. However, it turned out that this other restaurant only opens for dinner on Saturdays (yeah, really) because they're "so popular that they don't need to open for lunch." Yup, the employee or owner (whoever) was inside the restaurant and told us that as he was busy with a catering order. So their loss was another restaurant's gain since we were starving. We arrived at Golden Seven Thai & Chinese Cuisine right around 3 pm. There were no other customers - just me and two of my siblings. After taking a quick glance at the menu, we sadly realized that their lunch had literally *just* ended at 3 pm. Although I was 98% sure that we wouldn't be able to order off the lunch menu, I still decided to ask our server if they would let us order lunch specials. He politely told us to hold on while he went to the back and asked (either the manager or owner, I presume). A few minutes later, he gave us the good news that yes, they would still allow us to order the lunch specials. How awesome is that?!! Too cool. I ordered my usual Thai dish - Red Curry with chicken - while my siblings ordered Pad Thai with chicken and General Tso's Chicken. Most lunch specials are served with white rice and a veggie spring roll. However, white rice is not served with noodle and rice dishes. Although I do not see this on their lunch menu online, we were also provided our choice of either Hot & Sour soup or Egg Drop soup. I chose the Egg Drop soup as I'm not a fan of the Hot & Sour. * Egg Drop Soup - Yum. This simple soup was seasoned just right and sprinkled with a bit of chopped green onions. The bright yellow color was a little different than I'm used to, but it tasted good and that's what counts. =) My younger sister ordered the Hot & Sour soup and enjoyed it. The server also brought us complimentary fried wonton chips which were a crunchy and a tasty addition to our soups. As we were finishing our soups, our entrees were served. * Red Curry (Kang Ped) w/Chicken (Lunch - $8.95) - Per the menu description, this curry contains "Bell pepper, bamboo shoots, onion, snap bean and basil leaves in coconut milk" with chicken. On the spiciness scale, I believe I ordered the medium (scale of mild, medium, spicy, Thai spicy). I don't recall it being too spicy and probably should have ordered spicy instead. Either way, the curry was yummy. The thing that would have made it better (in my opinion) was if it was a little thicker in consistency. * Pad Thai w/Chicken (Lunch - $7.95) - Although I'm not a huge fan of Pad Thai, I do enjoy eating it occasionally and tried some of my sister's. This dish of "Traditional stir-fry thin rice noodles with bean sprout onion and egg" was nicely flavored and not too sweet as it often can be. * General Tso's Chicken (Lunch - $6.95) - I had never tried this Chinese chicken dish until my sister recommended it to my brother that day. The chicken pieces are deep-fried then tossed in a sweet, slightly spicy sauce with chili peppers, peas, and carrots. This version was served with some steamed broccoli. Although this was good, it wasn't as "mind-blowing" as my sister made it out to be. =) The veggie spring roll was just "meh." It was just a plain ol' fried spring roll. I think it would have tasted better with some sauce, but we didn't specifically request some. (Note: If you check in on Yelp, you can get free veggie spring rolls. However, they won't allow you to get it with any other deals or specials, which includes the lunch. Still have my deal to use...) Overall, Golden Seven Thai & Chinese Cuisine gets 4 stars for their good food and friendly service. Golden Seven is Chinese owned Thai themed restaurant that specializes in Chinese and Thai food. It's located in the Suwanee Town Center plaza which is a great location because it's a place where people can spend time at the park and stop by the restaurants when they're hungry. My husband and I dropped by on a Friday afternoon for lunch and we were given a simple lunch menu. There were Chinese dishes and Thai dishes and the lunch special came with soup and an eggroll. My husband ordered the Mongolian beef and I ordered the drunken noodles with a spice level of 4. The menu states that for spicy dishes, you can choose between 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 depending on the level of tolerance. The lunch menu is very affordable but seating is limited. Tables for two are lined along the right wall and tables for 3 or more are in the middle of the restaurant so you may want to call ahead and reserve if you plan on bringing a big party. The lunch crowd consisted mostly of older people with kids. There seemed to be only 1 waitress and 1 waiter who worked the floor and managed the phone but they were efficient and served everyone well so kudos to them for the awesome customer service. Our soup came out first and I was surprised at how small the bowl was but it's an appetizer so I guess it makes sense that the bowl was small. Asian chips came out with the soup and the soup tastes better without the chips; something about the chips tasted off. Our entrees were brought to us and the food was ok. There wasn't any wow factor and the taste was there but it was just ok. The lunch portions are probably smaller than the dinner portions (just my assumption) because we were barely full after we ate. My husband finished his food before me and he ended up sitting around waiting for me to finish and we are both relatively fast eaters. My drunken noodles were ok and the spiciness was probably the best thing about it. I can handle my spiciness so a level 4 was easy and I can't help but wonder how weak the lower levels are. If you're someone who loves the heat, just go for the level 5 spiciness. TLDR; if you want some Thai or Chinese and you're already in the area, try out Golden Seven.
