Pretty happy with my acrylic full set $45 and pedicure $30! ( though some recent reviews said they got acrylic for $43?) Got a whole massage chair experience while I got my pedicure which was very nice. I only had to wait like ten minutes for me to get my nails done. They had slightly limited color options (at least for acrylic) and I'm not sure if they do a lot of special designs but I like the shaping of the nail and bead. Definitely coming back if I want something basic. I didn't get to cure my nails as much as I did in other salons so not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing. One nail coat did get a bit messed up on my way out and another feels softish.. and spilled over...oh well! Still overall not bad for the price. Also, each nail tech in there worked on me so I think they really optimize their skill sets! Update: I realized 2 of the nail extensions were not flush with my nail so there's space between my natural nail and fake nail. Is bothering me with all the debris that falls in there
Needed to kill some time and decided to get a pedicure done while I waited. They did a wonderful job! Especially for the price. I wasn't planning on getting a mani, but I thought.. since I'm here, might as well and boy am I glad I did. They were so fast, yet paid attention to the small details. So glad I found this place and if I am in Berkeley again, I will absolutely return.
I've come back a few times after my main shop closed and it's been sufficient when I'm desperate. This time though, I had to keep asking for them to take old polish off again, like 3-4 times! All I got was a sheer glitter fill on my nails and a French tip for my toes (no deluxe pedicure) and they charged me $110? Prices say $40 for fill and $35 for gel pedicure, so I must've gotten charged $20 extra for french tip and $15 for... removing polish? The lady here is always rude to me and obviously made up a price on the spot but after half my nails lifted in 3 days and an uneven French tip, I'm never going back.
Early fathers day. My sweetie and daughter treated me to "The Royal Pedicure." The was an upcharge but I was totally pampered. We walked in and were cheerfully greeted and seated. Covid restriction in place and the place was very clean. I got in my chair and the wonderful spa treatment ensued. So nice to be pampered. NINA, my nail expert was soooo attentive and exact. The cleaning and the massage got my in the sweet zone. Each level of the upscale pedi was so refreshing. I would easily return for this special treatment. All the oils, ointments, balms, or whatever their magic is, made my day. The menu gives several pedi options including hot stone, massage, and soothing lotion. I shine. Thank you NINA. I've been coming here for a while now and I have zero negative comments. On the contrary, the service is marvelous. Staff are all so nice and gentle every time. I do advise you to call in advance and make an app if you want to be seen right away, they can get busy!
Kevin ALWAYS does an amazing job! I go back and forth between shellac manicures and acrylic nails and they're always done PERFECTLY! I show Kevin a picture and he does exactly what I want! RUN to Golden Nails and have them take care of you! I've been coming here for decades and won't ever go anywhere else. Keep in mind I live in Vacaville and drive ALL the way to Berkeley to see them, yep they're worth it!
I got the hot stone pedicure and I a good hot stone massage with a detailed pedicure. My feet feel like clouds after this experience. They have several soothing aromatic moments throughout the pedicure process and the hot stone is very muscle intensive. Good for those who work on their feet ALOT. That have several types of pedicures. I'll share the ones I try as I try them.
I really wanted to like this place. This is my first time coming here since it was closer to me and couldn't make the trip to my usual nail lady in Walnut Creek. Kim did a great job with my pedicure. After years of sticking to plain Gel I decided to get a full Acrylic set with gel and chrome for my manicure. I wanted to do something different and was excited! Kevin helped me and was nice. He was quick but didn't take the time to clean up my cuticles. I also noticed a lot of gaps between my actual nail and acrylic nail that's suppose to be glued together so it wouldn't lift (see photos). The gel-like powder was also layered down far from my cuticles so it looks like it's been grown out for some time. When Kevin was done there was another customer that came in as a walk-in for a full set so he passed me off to Daisy to add the color. I asked for bubble bath and to add chrome on top. I didn't know what color chrome to put so we tried a few. One had a blue-ish green tint. When she brushed it off I could hardly tell there was chrome on top of my nails and asked her if it was noticeable. At this point Daisy seemed to grow impatient and said it's suppose to look like that when I mentioned I could only see the blueish green color at the top of my cuticles and the edges. She ignored me and started to add the clear coat and told me it would go away. When I was done I mentioned to her that I could only still see the blue color on the edges of my nail so she told me to wash my hands and it will go away. I walk to the sink to wash my hands and I told Daisy that I still see the color up top. She then threw this white brush and told me to scrub it off and walks away! I was SHOCKED!!!! Not to mention the cleanliness of the place did not look up to standard. I washed my hands and when I went to pay she pulled up a photo and said all chromes look different. It seemed like she wanted to prove a point so I told her I understood and that I've gotten chrome on my nails before. I paid and left. I will not be coming back to this place and was disappointed with the service because I thought I would end up a happy customer based on a few reviews I've read before coming. Price is decent and less expensive than other places but it's true that you get what you pay for.
The nail salon shaped my acrylics so well, and the service was super friendly and kind. They're really good at shaping almond shaped nails -- very attentive. Love this place -- thanks so much again!

I showed him two pictures and he was able to give me exactly what I wanted! He also paid so much attention to detail which I really appreciated. The store itself has a wide range of nail polishes to choose from, and they use DND gel which I have found is the gel polish that lasts longest on my nails/acrylics. The prices are pretty inexpensive, I got a full set of gel acrylics for $38 ((: I'm really happy I found this place and for sure will come back ((:
Start of a "last day of summer" tradition, says my 6yo. I took her here for her first "mommy and me" pedicure per her request. Made a reservation for 1030am, arrived a few min early, were greeted and treated promptly and courteously. I found the place unassuming, standard clean (like The Nail Shop on Solano), similarly priced to other places in the local area, and efficient. The woman I thought was the owner was friendly and - most importantly to me - everyone treated my 6yo with respect, great attention, and care. She LOVED the experience. We will be back - esp since we live close by!

My experience here was disappointing. From the moment I walked in, I felt an off energy from the main technician/owner. She was cold, unfriendly, and clearly in a rush to finish my manicure. She seemed more focused on getting to her lunch than on doing her job. The entire manicure took about 10 minutes, with no care or attention. I mentioned that my thumb felt uncomfortable during the service. She briefly looked at it and said everything was fine - and went back to her lunch. By the next day, the skin around my nail was red, irritated, and I'm now dealing with what appears to be the start of an infection. It feels like the cuticle was cut aggressively and possibly with tools that weren't properly sanitized. The only positive part of my visit was the assistant who did my pedicure. She was gentle, attentive, and took the time to fix an ingrown nail carefully. I really appreciated her kindness. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place due to the owner's attitude (mentioned in the reviews before), lack of sanitation, and the rushed, careless service. read more

I was hours away from home, and frankly feeling a tad desperate to have my nails done. My lifelong manicurist won't be happy with me, but desperation makes us do crazy things. I yelped the area, and read through the reviews to see what the recos read as. Most everyone said that Kevin did a great job. Great! I called and specifically booked my appointment with Kevin. The salon isn't anything special on the outside, or on the inside. I stood there wondering if I could leave, but decided that it was worth taking a chance on. They seated me at a table, provided bottled water, and a small bowl of paper wrapped ginger candies. Nice touch ! One of the ladies that works there came over to start removing my polish. She started shaping my nails. She asked what I thought. I was diplomatic and told her that I didn't like the shape. She had over filed my nails, and I was wondering where Kevin was. After an exchange between the two, Kevin came over, and decided that I needed a new set. Ugh. Kaching I didn't let my irritation get to me, because as Kevin was working on my nails, it's been years since I've had anyone use such precision, and show great care as he proceeded to remove and shape my natural nails. Kevin is amazing. I don't know about the other nail specialists, but he truly was worth the money. He was speedy, clean, and had me out of there in just a tad over an hour. This is unheard of for a full nail set. If you're in the area, and in need of a pedi, mani, or both, overlook the basic, book with Kevin and enjoy. Prices are reasonable, parking is not great, but doable. read more

I decided to treat myself and get my nails done and I'm so happy that I came here. They were super responsive when I called for an appointment and I felt very well taken care of. I got a Mani and Pedi and the results are so amazing! It's close to Berkeley's campus and the workers are super kind and friendly. read more

I got the regular gel manicure and the paraffin wax pedicure. loved my gel manicure and the pedicure was great too! paraffin wax always feels amazing. I also loved how detailed they were when shaping my nails ! as with many nail salons it's great to have an appt but walk ins come in frequently so come early! I'll definitely be coming back for my next mani/pedi read more

Love my nails! I've been to quite a few nail salons and I believe this was my favorite overall because of the kind Nail personnel, Quality of work, and decent price. This was my first time getting acrylic nails and I have to say I can see why people get them now. I'm embarrassed to say that previously I did not understand why people would get them as I thought that they were strange looking but now I have to say that I love them and so pretty!!! Oh I didn't think that the people there were racist at all in fact I felt like they were the nicest out of all the other nail salons that I've been to. My purse was on the floor and one of the people came by and brought me a chair to put my purse on which is very nice of her. And I even asked the guy if he had any recommendations for a good pho places and he found the restaurant name in his phone and told me about it which was very nice of him read more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE It was my first time here. I did not get the tech I scheduled with (who was full on busy with another client when I arrived). I guess they don't take requests of specific nail techs seriously. Since it was my first visit and the shop had overall good reviews, I stayed and let the tech do her thing. However, I did have issues with how she was doing things. For instance some nails were noticeably thicker than others. I guess she got tired of me pointing out what I didn't like or making requests because she got up, said something to the owner and never came back. The owner ended up painting my nails. Then I was just left there. No one ever came back to check if my nails were dry or just overall ready to go. Just all around poor customer service Three days later my acrylic set was not of good was lifting and looking raggedy like it had been weeks since they had been done. read more

Love Kevin & all the ladies that work here! Been going to GNS for a while & have stepped it up from a manicure to a gel manicure to acrylic. Love the way they make my nails look, from all of the stresses of life - it's a moment for myself! Took my mom in today & she felt like a million bucks! This is my favorite nail salon in Berkeley. The staff is friendly, their chairs are massage chairs, and they are always willing to try new designs on my nails. Daisy did these for me and has done other designs for me before. Would recommend to all! Easy to get a same day appointment but they get busy in the afternoons. read more

Update:Giving 5 stars for the best customer service! I have super thin nails. I probably need an extra thick gel coat. More than a normal gel manicure. My fresh from Saturday gel manicure had chips on 3 nails. I stopped by for a fix. Daisy fixed all my nails free of charge as well as basically doing my whole manicure again! Superior customer service! :) read more

Came here after getting a terrible full set from another nail salon. I'm crazy OCD about acrylics, and it was just lumpy and thick. Kevin fixed them right up, made them natural looking and just charged me for a gel manicure even though he had to buff away so much of the old acrylic. read more

La la la looooove this place. Made an appointment same day on Friday 5PM. They were busy but accommodated us quickly - I got the lemon drop manicure and it was luxurious AF. Nails were done super fast, great color selection, you even get a tiny water bottle and a guava candy. Definitely will be returning again. It's been three days. Nope. At least not for gel. You can always buy your own and bring it for your manicure.
