This place is always a solid meal. My go to is always the yellow curry with chicken and rice. Pad khee mao also great. I think you really can't go wrong. The food leaves you feeling warm when is especially great on a rainy night. Service is always great with a smile. Always nice and accommodating. The vibes dining in are nice with the chill ambient music and nice lighting temperature. I'd take a photo but I ate it already. I'll be eating here all through the rainy season. read more

Had a Great dinner experience with my daughters last night here. We ordered the green curry, eggplant chicken and myself the Panang Curry salmon with 3 thai iced teas. The dishes came out in a pretty generous sized bowl and about 3/4 is enough to fill your belly and take home the rest. Out of all the dishes that was the most flavorful had to be the eggplant chicken. The benefit of going out with my daughters is the opportunity to share each others foods. The eating area is small and has a lot of high-chair seating although I prefer the restaurant open some booths with normal table height seating next to the window. The seating looks like they cater to both to-go and minimal indoor dining. I also saw a lot of door-dash delivery guys and gals come by to pick up online ordered food. The experience, friendly service and price paid seemed reasonable and we'll be coming back here again in the future. read more

We loved it! We came in when it was not very busy, so I cant speak to what it's like during heavier patronage. You place your order at the counter and they give you a number and you seat yourself. They have a LOT of drink choices, so you should be able to find something you like. There are a reasonable number of places to sit for a small restaurant like this. As long as it isnt too busy you shouldnt have problems finding a table. The person who helped us was very friendly. Id recommend looking up their menu online before coming in, as I could see the process slowing down dramatically if the people in front of you cant decide what to order. We had two dishes - shrimp pad thai and a green curry. Both were delicious. The food came out pretty fast Id say. I think their sauces were better than that "other" thai place. The prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back when we are in the mood for thai! read more

Multiple visits to this place have yielded the same results. They are always busy. There are always lots of to go orders placed ahead of you. If you call ahead it is always a 45 min to 1 hour wait. If you go in there seems to always be a 30 min wait. At my last visit they had still not opened the indoor seating. If you wanted to know why not five stars that is the only reason. Every meal has been an experience of taste and flavor explosion. The recipes here have not been Americanized to lessen the flavor or remove the spices. Making the entree a near she'll of itself form the original recipe. This place keeps it real and the lines out the door show it. This restaurant saved my life. I've visited Golden Leaf many times and it has never disappointed me. I absolutely love the Pad Thai and the Tom Kah; and if you've never had the edamame, you are seriously missing out. I started this review with stating that this restaurant saved my life and it truly did. After my mom passed away, there was very little I could get myself to eat besides Thai so I went to Golden Leaf at least twice a week for a while. This was our first visit , you order at the counter and then sit anywhere you like. The menu is limited, but all the dishes you expect are up there. They call out on the menu which items gluten free so you don't need to ask. The service was quick and friendly and the food was really good. This is so far the best Thai we've had in Newberg. Just had a birthday lunch with two friends who LOVE Thai food. I suggested we try Golden Leaf Thai as I heard they were operating under new management. Walking in you see a big change in decor, and while not completed yet, the space available was fine. They are adding the booths soon. But the food, now that is the best part. All four of our dishes were fabulous!! Generous portions, crisp sauteed vegetables, and flavor overload! My shrimp was perfectly cooked. The lemon grass chicken pad Thai is delicious! Extremely disappointing. The veggie stirfry was microwaved veggies with whole baby carrots?! and a barely could taste it sauce. Definately not stir fried. The curry was flavorless ( even at medium heat) , soupy, with huge undercooked veggies ( again hard baby carrots whole?). So bizzare. At least the chicken and rice components seemed cooked instead of microwaved. I'm seriously concerned that anyone rated this as good Thai food. Not authentic or even edible. My husband and I usually go to another Thai place in Sherwood. It was getting late so we decided to try this restaurant. We should have driven the extra 15 min! Food was super salty! The tofu was dry, and the vegetables were scarce. Not to mention that they put baby carrots (the slimy ones in a bag) as one vegetable choice! My husband's Pad dish was dry as well as mine! This restaurant is much prettier on the inside than out! It's also very clean. That's important when it comes to food. We were visiting a friend, the owner of Social Goods (across the street) and needed a bit to eat, after wine-tasting all afternoon. Us gals ordered take-out (4 orders of pad thai; from mild to spice to extra spicy to vegan) and we all ate every bite. We were pigs!! But, it was soooo good!! I was on business in Newberg, it was raining hard, and I was craving Thai food. Found this place that offered "in-dining". When I walked in I was greeted by a gentleman behind a counter. The restaurant was empty on Sunday around 5:00pm which seemed odd. I asked him if I can eat there and he said yes. I ordered what I usually order at Thai restaurants - eggplant chicken medium spicy. He brought food very fast, but in a plastic container with a plastic utensils. I asked him if he had normal silverware and he told me that they only do "to go orders". It seemed very strange because he allowed me to eat inside and on Google it said open for dine-in. Okey, no big deal, I guess, I can eat from a plastic container with a plastic fork. When I tried the food I thought I am going to die. The food was so hot (temperature wise) I literally burned my tongue and mouth. I decided to wait a little bid so the food would cool off. I waited for 15 minutes and the food was still very hot. By the time I waited for a main dish to cool off, my rice (it was brought in a separate container) got cold. So I decided to mix cold rice with main dish thinking that rice would cool off the food. No way! I had to wait another 10-12 minutes, and only after that I was able to start eating. By that time I didn't want anything, but I was hungry and finished the meal. I was at the restaurant over an hour and only one person stopped by to get a to-go order. Seemed like their business is not doing so well, and I can now tell why. And the floor of the restaurant was dirty. I will not come back. read more

The place was pretty empty when my party of two arrived (guests at a few other tables, but not many). We were craving some Thai noodle goodness. We were seated at a table near the window and both ordered hot Thai tea. Great tea!! The waitress was also very good about giving us refills when our cups began to empty (and we drank a lot of tea). So, yes, free refills were excellent and timely. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with chicken & medium spicy and I also got peanut sauce on the side, and my dad ordered the Phla Goong (shrimp, cilantro, lime juice salad). We split the food, so we both tried some of each. It was a hit! The medium spicy was perfect, not killer and not too mild. The Pad Kee Mao was a perfect comfort dish - nice and warm and filling. The Phla Goong was very good too. The lettuce was regular iceberg, but crisp and fresh tasting. The dressing and the spice really complemented the dish. Overall a great dinner. I'm always amazed by the consistent quality of Thai food when I travel to small towns -- whether it's the middle of Wyoming or a small town outside of Portland -- I know I can find some good fresh vegetables at any Thai place, and some respectfully prepared tofu. Golden Leaf Thai Cuisine is super clean and nice inside - the service is very attentive. The food I had was delicious -- fresh veggies and the rice was perfect. Super tasty and friendly staff. I was a little leery about this place when I first walked in. Thursday at 7 pm, we were the only ones there. However while sitting there I noticed a steady stream of people picking up takeout. My mom, sister and I ordered spring rolls, a house salad, yellow curry and pad kee moa. It was sooo good and fresh. This is our go to Thai restaurant! We love the food (cashew nut chicken, pad kee mao and pad Thai are our favorites) and the portions are enough for 2-3 meals. Considering the portion sizes, the prices are extremely reasonable. We get takeout and our order is prepared quickly and ready for pickup in 15 min or less. We placed our order at home, ran some errands and then walked over and picked it up. We got chicken wantons, yellow curry and pineapple fried rice. When we went to pick up the food the gentleman who helped us was SUPER nice. We watched him feel the bag/ each container and we laughed a little. He explained that each item we got comes in a different container so he can tell by the size if its all there. Some how we ended up joking about him needing to taste them to.
