We were invited to a wedding in Tehachapi and the area didn't have any of the usual brands I liked…read moreto stay with. The Fairfield by Mariott Inn & Suites Tehachapi was one of the better options. In their price range, they had the better reviews by compare. Honestly there wasn't a lot of reviews or photos for businesses in this area, so I just made the best decision based on the information I was able to find. Check-in was at 3pm, but we would have to head out around 3:30pm so it would leave us no time to get ready. When I called the hotel, they said to check back at 12noon on the day of the visit because that's when they are able to see the check outs and availability to see if an early check-in was available. On the day of the wedding, I called and they said they can accommodate a 1pm early check-in at no additional cost. Yay! This gave us ample time to settle in and get ready. The room we got was narrow with a lot going on like a long hallway. We came in and there was the bathroom. Hairdryer is provided but it's in the closer. Then there was a semi kitchen area with a microwave and a fridge. This is great because not many hotels have microwaves these days. Then there was a sofa area with a tv. And then finally the bedroom area with another tv. The WORST THING about this hotel is the bed. The metal bed frame stuck out and my boyfriend and I hurt ourselves multiple times bumping into it. Also the bed wasn't too comfortable because my sleep quality was poor and I woke up with back pains. Good thing it was just one day. And the pillows were like small tiny half pillows. My boyfriend joked about shrinkflation. Additionally the walls are thin. You can hear the nearby doors close. So it wasn't the best for resting. Another complaint is that their shower leaks a lot of water from the faucet which wastes water and also gives less water to the showerhead. Total waste. The gym area had minimal equipment. 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 bike, 1 stairclimber, and 1 weight bench with a weight rack. What really bothered me was that there was no cleaning equipment. I also doubt staff cleans up much because the water was out when we looked on Saturday afternoon and still out Sunday morning. It was still nice to get a work out in. My boyfriend wanted to run in high elevation so he went on the treadmill and I went on the elliptical. They also have an indoor pool that we didn't check out because it was closed on Saturday, during the day time. It's an indoor pool because Tehachapi gets all 4 seasons, including the snowy winter. Breakfast is included. Not the best but edible. Enough to get us started in the morning and make our way in the direction of home. We both ate the scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was thin and bland. I actually wished I grabbed less which is rare for me with bacon. My boyfriend had a muffin and he was able to toast it. I had a waffle that was okay but probably been sitting there for a while. We both had orange juice which was definitely watered down from concentrate. Not good enough to get a second cup. My boyfriend also tried their coffee but he said it was bad so I didn't get any. I didn't see any staff at the desk when we checked out and I didn't get any email to self check out so I just left my room keys in a basket of all the other room keys I saw behind the desk. A decent option FOR THE AREA... but I'm not really trying to be in the area if I wasn't obligated to.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We loved that parking was free (huge plus during a busy travel weekend!), and the room itself was surprisingly spacious -- perfect for a family who comes with plenty of bags and snacks. The beds were comfy, the space was quiet, and we all got a great night's rest. Breakfast the next morning was also complimentary and had a solid variety of options to get us fueled up before hitting the road again. Super convenient and stress-free. Overall, a smooth and pleasant stay. If you're passing through Tehachapi or need a reliable stop for a family trip, Fairfield Inn definitely delivers!

Unfortunately, my interaction with Dani, the girl that answered the phone today completely changed that. I simply needed to "request a bed change" for a reservation that's still three weeks away. Since we booked through Hotels.com, they directed us to call the hotel directly. When we did, Danni immediately told us, "They lied to you, they scammed you and I can't do anything about this. You need to go back to them," in a very harsh and dismissive tone and we hung up. So we again contacted Hotels.com, and they once again instructed me to call the hotel because it was a simple bed change request. When I called the hotel back, Danni answered again. Her attitude was just as rude and unhelpful as before, and I told what we were trying simply change the bed from a king to two queens, and as someone in customer service, if she could try to help me that would be appreciated.... she got really snotty with me, and started talking me in a very sarcastic tone, and became very dismissive and even more rude than she was the first time! I have NEVER written review --but this experience was so shocking, and I felt others should know about the customer service that could have been an easy assist! I've been a loyal guest for years and have never been treated this way by the staff. I understand that employees have policies they must follow, but there's a big difference between saying "I'm sorry to hear this, here's what I can do to try to assist you today" but speaking to a loyal guest in a dismissive, confrontational, snotty manner is so unprofessional and a hotel as large as Holiday Inn. Dani could benefit from additional customer service training in how to treat paying customers with very simple requests, with some professional communication. I sincerely hope management addresses this, along with her rude attitude, because the hotel itself has been a place I've enjoyed staying in the past.

We loved the area, a nice park next door, within walking distance with a pond & a playground for kids. Small town (Stallion Springs) has a gas-station with a few eateries. We specifically booked this hotel because they were letting us check out til 2pm. We had online meetings with clients scheduled til 2pm and here comes Yoli calling our room with a very unprofessional demeanor. Couldn't even comprehend the situation they had put us in. Telling us that she didnt even know we were in here was a total joke. What, did you think we just made our own room keys?? Im glad i booked it only for one night. It was great for the price but inconvenient because of management staff like Yoli, who is intellectually underwhelming. Would've paid $30 more somewhere else had we known we couldn't check out at 2pm. On top of the inconvenience, i have to mention that blankets were stained with old blood maybe? and a towel was also stained, i dont want to event think about. How they think its okay to put that in the room is beyond me. Though overall just keep in mind the type of people you will be dealing with if you book here. This is a classic "you get what you pay for". And a manager who isnt the sharpest tool in the shed.

The hotel was conveniently located about halfway through our trip, was one of the first options recommended on the Amex Travel website, and the price was reasonable, so we booked it without hesitation. Unfortunately, this turned into one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. After a long day of driving with our young child, we finally settled into our room and were ready to get some much-needed sleep. That's when we discovered what appeared to be bed bugs crawling on the bed. It was absolutely disgusting and incredibly upsetting, especially after such a long drive. The last thing any family should have to worry about is the cleanliness and safety of their hotel room. We took photos of the bed bugs as evidence and contacted American Express the following day to file a formal complaint. I expected much higher standards from a hotel offered through American Express Travel. Cleanliness is the most basic expectation of any hotel, and this experience fell far below that standard. I sincerely hope the hotel takes immediate action to thoroughly inspect and treat its rooms so other guests don't have to go through the same experience. If you're considering staying here, I strongly recommend inspecting your room and bedding carefully before unpacking or getting into bed. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.
