We intended to go to another restaurant in this shopping center but they were closed for vacation so we went here for the first time. They were quick with the order. The restaurant was clean inside, as was the bathroom. Two people seemed to be managing service, a young man and an older woman. (Maybe both were family??) We had lunch inside and ordered take out for someone who did not come with us. The Hot and Sour Soup was not spicy. The stirfrys we had were okay (but not great.) The one we took home with us, for an elderly relative, a pork and vegetable dish, was loved by the person who got it. The older woman at the counter had suggested that and it was a good suggestion. I have gotten takeout from here probably 6 times or so and every time the food has been spectacular! I get Home Style Bean Curd (the brown sauce is amazing) and Garlic Fried Rice and Cheese Wontons. The Garlic Fried Rice is something I've never seen at a Chinese restaurant before and it's kept me coming back since the first time I had it, I highly recommend! I had an exceptionally good experience tonight with them. I placed an online order for pickup an hour in advance and it wasn't quite ready when I got there (I also work in the service industry, I know this is often out of their control so I was not upset). When I got home I realized the meal my spouse ordered had the wrong protein and the fried rice was plain and not garlic (I was disappointed but not angry with the restaurant, mistakes happen and they were busy!). I called the store and the woman on the phone was so polite and helpful, she offered to replace the items and have one of their employees deliver it to me at no charge. My grandmother is a huge fan of Chinese cuisine and this is her go-to spot to get it. My mom and I took her here for lunch one weekend following a church service, and the food was pretty decent. Menu is expansive, with weekday lunch specials around $8 for soup, entree, rice, and egg roll. Weekend visits have a similar half-portion dinner special for around $10. Protein choices include beef, pork, and shrimp. We stuck to the familiar and got the pork & vegetable, chicken & vegetable, and shrimp & vegetable specials (all had different sauces to complement the protein) with fried rice ($1 upcharge). Food was hot and fresh, I personally didn't care for the canned mushrooms and thought fried rice was plain. Probably is the best Chinese you can get around. It doesn't look impressive inside. This is just a strip mall. It makes up for the poor setting with impressive food. The amount of food you get is great for its price. It looks like your average strip mall Chinese place from the outside. Inside it's not great looking, but it's much better than the usual dining room. The tables are covered with tableclothes. It has many of the same items you find everywhere. They do these better though. I had the Hunan Bean Curd. This is about $7 for the lunch portion. It does lots of carryout. It has a nice dining room so maybe eat inside. I had a taste for Lo Mein and was in the area. The noodles were a deep dark brown, I believe b/c of sauce or something, but the flavors were unrecognizable. It was not good. My low rating is NOT because of the food, which was pretty good. But ugh... the televisions. Unless you are a sports bar, it's an atmosphere killer. Still, the reason I came to Yelp to share my feedback is because of the programs being shown. I was there with my niece and nephew and the programs were completely inappropriate for young children. Murders on the evening news. Hollywood gossip on Access Hollywood or something equally as awful. I don't want to see that crap, and I certainly don't want to expose them to it. This place is right down the street and conveniently located next to my gym. When I had a mad craving for Chinese food- we would call in here. As my husband will only eat fried rice, he has no preference for where Chinese comes from. I tried many things on the menu, and never found anything that was super delicious. Nothing was bad- but nothing was exceptional, either. I found another place nearby that I preferred, but it is a bit further out of my way. Last week- I was feeling exceptionally lazy and decided I hadn't tried this place in a while. I gave them a call for a pick up order and they told me it would be 30 minutes. That's the longest wait I've ever had for Chinese, but I was fine with that. When I went to pick it up- the staff were attentive and very friendly! The restaurant is nice and clean, and decorated exactly how most American- Chinese restaurants usually look. Several tables were full of patrons. I ordered the hot and sour soup- which is usually a pretty good way to start my meal. This one was ok, but not particularly spicy. I got a shrimp spring roll, which was my favorite part of the meal, cream cheese wontons, which were also pretty good, and the garlic chicken. Upon opening an order of garlic chicken, I expect for the garlic to be a strong, pungent smell- which it definitely was not. I made my plate and was completely underwhelmed with flavors. It honestly tasted like there was no seasonings at all.... much less garlic. I remember why I hadn't gone back in a while- and will continue to visit the other place I've found... even if it is a bit further away. read more

First off, I'm not a fan of Chinese food. In fact fried rice is the only dish I'll eat on a regular basis. That being said, Golden Dragon has the best in the city hands down! When I lived on the west side a week didn't go buy that I wasn't placing an order to go. Now I'm on the east side and its definitely worth the drive. Since I've only placed orders to go the TVs don't bother me. I guess its a testament to the number of times I've been there that I don't need to speak when I call, it sort of goes like this "Hello Dennis, you want the chicken fried rice, it'll be ready in 10 min." It's never ready in 10 min, more like 15 or 20, but I don't mind. She says everything will be ready in 10 min, lol. read more

If I could give a negative review I would. I use to be a loyal customers for years and last Monday I ordered chicken with brocoli....but received Beef and brocoli? How hard is it to make sure orders are correct? I called back and a guy said they are busy what my name and number and they would remake it when ever I wanted. I called intoday March 28th and they said they have no record of my order and could not and will not re make my order!!! I have spent my whole lunch break arguing with the so called manager... I have never met a more rude disrespectful person in my whole life!!!! I will be reporting this to the better business bureau! I hope your happy u lost a customer over a mistake your store did..... It's a shame that yelp only goes to 5. Quite often you'll find good hole in the wall chinese places that pass as good food at a cheap price. Occasionally you find some "gourmet" chinese places that charge a premium for food that is of a higher quality, but over thought and over executed. Golden Dragon is the extremely rare Chinese place that is cheap, well prepared, and very well executed. The storefront is very small, seating only maybe 30 people at a time, but takeout is extremely quick (and they often use caller ID to remember your name/previous orders!). The price is very cheap (6 bucks for lunch, less than 10 for dinner!), and the food is GREAT. I've seldom seen good seafood dishes at many chinese places, but my sister has routinely had great shrimp, fish, and tofu related dishes. Personally, the General Tso's chicken can not be beat and they will make it as spicy as you want. Side note - I've yet to cut into a big piece of chicken from Golden Dragon, and have it not be high quality chicken - not of the mall food court dark meet that you often find. The fried rice is great, the hong kong chicken is fantastic, and the lo mein is thick and full of flavor. Seriously cannot go wrong here, and it's one of the few places that is an absolutely must try. read more

This Golden Dragon Restaurant is -ok- I do a lot of take-out here sometimes for our office or a quick and easy dinner. It would be nice if they had Wi-Fi then I might be more inclined to go there for meetings. Be careful about what you order...in thinking its one cost or the other because they sometimes have hidden cost.
