Last 2 visits I have been there when they open at 0600 and they had no filled or special donuts. So you don't have all your donuts out for people to buy when you open. You pay for mix dozen and can't even get what they are suppose to have. The donuts have gotten smaller also. We visited because our fresh-off-post son had a hankering for donuts. He chose this place because we coincidentally had "our" donut shop back home that shared the same name. There is a drive through but we went in. Only two lovely ladies working the counter. I think one was new. She was friendly but had a few questions for her coworker (who answered quickly as she flew around, helping others). They have a cool little conveyer belt like some of those big chains that we won't name. I got their cinnamon roll (the donut spiral, not the cakey kind), an apple fritter (because these are the best test of a donut shop), and I think it was called Bavarian cream? Like the Boston Cream Pie but without chocolate on top, I think? Anyway, they were good quality. I didn't get dryness from them, they had that good springy bite you want out of a good donut. The fritter had nice bits of apple in them but no pockets of fat from the frying that a lot of places get. Size wise they were a bit smaller than fritters I'm used to, but they quality was there. The new girl got me a coffee, but all of the pots were temporarily at the bottom. She couldn't quite get past maybe 3/4 of a cup and you could see her debate putting the lid on and pretending it was full when I called out that it was OK, I'll just wait a few mins for a fresh pot. She didn't know how to put the fresh pot on so the experienced lady helped a few more people before realizing for another customer that there was no coffee. She quickly made some more and the new girl told her I was still waiting as well so she got me a cup and bumped me up to the next size and was apologetic. They were both very sweet and I wasn't in a hurry, so I didn't mind, though I would have preferred to have it with the donuts to cut the sweet. As for the coffee--it was really good! I don't know the brand or roast they use, but it was smooth, flavorful and a perfect compliment to the sweets. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality. I drink mine black, so not sure how it takes to sweetener and cream. It's small, not the cleanest (has that hole in the wall vibe), but the product and people were great. Lots of locals, so I know it's a loved place. If I lived in Columbus, I'd be happy to return. And we might after AIT when we visit again. read more

I just want to be answered correctly; can I or can't I be served a maple donut without bacon or remnants of bacon grease? I have been told I can order the donut bacon free and now I am told I can't! Online it says this place is 24 hours but they have a sign with "new store hours". According to this sign, they close at 11pm on Tuesday's but when I tried to come here for the first time at about 9pm on Tuesday, they were locking up and told me they were closed with no explanation, even when I pointed out that their sign says they close at 11...anyway, I still decided to give this place a chance and came again today. The donut was really good and the prices are reasonable. However, the cappuccino I ordered tasted awful, like watered down milk and sugar...it did not taste like a cappuccino at all. I was looking for donut shops on yelp when i came across Golden Donuts. They had absolutely glowing reviews and tips so we decided to find it and try it out. We pulled up right in front of the donut shop. They must have a drive thru because cars were lined up on the right side of the shop and an employee was outside taking orders from them. We walked in though and were immediately greeted and told about their special which was a dozen glazes plus a mixed dozen for either $12 or $13 or 1 mixed dozen for about $8. It was just me and my husband so we opted for just a mixed dozen. They had a big variety of donuts to choose from and a # of cake donuts, which are my favorite, plain glazed for my hubs. It was taking a while for us to pick out our donuts when we were asked if itnwas our first time. I said yes. Snce we had picked out a few glazed already, she said she would get them from the back. She came out and handed each of us one of our glazed. It was warm, fresh, & fluffy and hit the spot. Warm donuts later into the morning like around 9-9:30am is definitely a treat! By the time we left, we had chosen some glazed, donut hole clusters, 3 different varieties of cake donuts, an ugly, and an apple fritter. They have a nice variety of glazed and cake donuts as well as some specialty ones. It is a bit of hole in the wall, but once you walk in you're immediately greeted at the counter with one of their fresh hot glazed doughnuts. They're doughnut selection isn't huge but it didn't bother me. The doughnuts are soft, fresh and aren't overwhelming sweet. They also have cinnamon rolls and other fancy doughnuts.
