To start with I have been eating very best donuts since they were on macon road. Never had a bad experience everything was always very good...that's why I always came back even when they closed and came back open in the downtown area.I had my first bad experience a week ago.I bought 10 glazed and one twister donut.I ate the twister on the way home.I first noticed the donuts were cold which is very unusual before 8:00am in the morning.It just didn't taste normal...it tasted bad but I didn't think anything about because they are normally always good. Later on that day I wasn't feeling well all of a sudden. I didn't think anything of it at first.I tried another donut and it wasn't good so I knew something was wrong because my 10 year old son tried one and took a couple of bites and said it was nasty. He got sick soon after so then I knew it was the donuts that messed up our stomachs.At first I was going to chalk it up as a lost until a friend said you should report it. So I did on Tuesday morning although I bought them on Saturday.I called and the lady was very professional and nice. She if I came back that week she would replace them.I said ok but I couldn't come back until that Saturday. She so ok. She took my name down....so on Saturday I called first and the lady I talked to I guess was a owner because she said the lady I talked to worked for her. She asked me to explain what happened. So I explained it and she said she wouldn't replace them and she was very rude and unprofessional.Maybe she thought I wasn't telling the truth but I had no reason to lie. So I told her not to worry about it. She hung up the phone. Just very disappointed.When I told her the donuts were cold she said they only stay hot 4 minutes..I ordered 4 dozen a couple of months ago drove to work out of town 40 minutes away where I work and the donuts where still hot when I got to work.That Saturday morning when I was in line someone had ordered several dozen donuts.So there's no way my donuts should have been cold that early in the morning...they had never been before. I was most disappointed in how I was talked to as a paying customer who wasn't being rude to her. There's no dine in or really an inside to the shop at all.... you walk on over to a window, order and it is promptly handed over in a box. I had the cake donut with chocolate icing, slightly crispy and rich chocolate icing. Also tried an Applebest, which is their version of an apple fritter. Great donuts and exceptional service! I was almost 4PM on Sunday and I was out walking and came across Veri Best Donuts. Right on Broadway with some seating outside. Their bacon bar looked glorious and was calling my name. I ordered that and an iced vanilla coffee. The person who took my order was very nice (I did t catch her name) and actually gave me a few extra donuts in the bag. What a nice surprise! I found a nice bench in the shade and enjoyed a light, airy bar donut with the most delicious icing and entire slice of bacon. I'm sorry I didn't snap a pic but just stop by and see for yourself. They have something for everyone! I wanted to pay it forward (free donuts) so after a few people looked at me crazy for offering a bag of free donuts .. this young couple took them off my hands. I have been coming here since we arrived in Georgia. We have really enjoyed coming here and they do have the best donuts in the Columbus area. However, I'm assuming she's the owner (or at most, the manager), her attitude towards her customers is very, VERY lacking! I came today, early AM, and noticed when I got back home (I live on fort Benning) that I was missing the blueberry butter crème donut (which isn't cheap). I called thinking she would refund me for the one donut that I didn't receive. However, that isn't how it went down at all. First of all, the lady on the phone was telling her I was missing a donut and that I wanted a refund for the one I didn't receive (which you'd think wouldn't be a problem), but the way she was speaking in the background - telling me I needed to come back and that she wasn't giving me a refund. I'm sorry, what?! I than proceeded to let her know I definitely wouldn't be returning as I lived almost 20 mins away and that at this point I wouldn't be coming back at all for her nasty attitude towards me. Once she got on the phone she wouldn't listen to me. Talked over me the entire time and than hung up on me bc I finally yelled at her that she wasn't listening to me. Your attitude towards customers is down right crappy. It's a good thing they don't see your face when ordering them bc you're not a friendly face/person. I also want to add, in the end, it's not even about the refund. It's about how this woman speaks to other people and if she speaks and acts like this asking for a simple refund - I can only think of how she must talk and treat her employees or other customers. read more
