This order from Golden Chick was borderline inedible. The chicken tenders were so tough and rubbery that I needed a knife to cut them, and several pieces were still pink in the middle. That's unacceptable. The fries, roll, and okra arrived completely soggy and gross. The gravy was the only edible part of the meal. For the prices GrubHub charges after fees and tips, food quality like this is ridiculous. I won't order from Golden Chick again, and I'm close to canceling Grubhub altogether because experiences like this make the service feel like a scam instead of a convenience. read more

This place is still hanging in there. Has been around for a while and it still has some of the best chicken you can get. It's still kept clean and they seem to hire folks with excellent guest service skills. Always friendly and welcoming. The free ice cream cone is always nice when we have the grandkids with us. They offer a fair military discount. read more

FIRST TIME VISIT! THE LOCATION: located off Potranco Rd. and the 1604, this store is just outside the "loop". It shares a shopping center with other businesses like Jack in the Box, Wing Street, Planet Fitness and more. Finding parking is not an issue. THE SERVICE & MENU: This store has a drive thru and when I arrived, I was the only person in line. Woohoo! A male voice popped on to the speaker box immediately and was very professional throughout our transaction. I ordered a 2 piece roasted chicken (thigh and wing) that came with a side (I chose dirty rice), roll and drink. Note that I do not see chicken drumsticks on the menu. They serve Pepsi products! They also have a raspberry iced tea and root beer. Yum! I roll up to the second window and the female cashier is very sweet. She is extra patient as I fiddle with exact change to pay. THE FOOD: I get home and unpack my bag. The chicken pieces are small, but there are a bounty of spices on the roasted chicken. Chicken pieces are juicy and seasoned well. The dinner roll is slightly sweet and warm. The showstopper today is the dirty rice. I am pleasantly surprised! Not dried out, flavorful and SPICY. Do not serve to small children. Well, maybe to the ones with a potty mouth, but seriously, I enjoyed it a lot. Give that a try! The food was also neatly packed in a completely compartmented tray where a mess is less likely to occur. Interested in going back to sample the fried chicken. OVERALL: pretty happy with my meal. The chicken pieces were small, but hopefully just evidence that they do not use hormonal enhanced chicken. Idk, hopeful thinking. Service was good and they got my order right. Refreshing! Thank you, guys! read more

Pretty 'meh' to be honest. This location needs corporate to come check it out and fix something, based on the quantity of 1 and 2-star reviews. Came in 5 minutes after opening for lunch. Put an order in and waited a bit too long for it to arrive considering there was only one other person in the restaurant. Drink machine gave me a watery Diet Coke. The fried wings and breast piece were okay...but they were lukewarm. How is fried chicken lukewarm when you just opened for the day? If they're using stuff that's been sitting overnight, that's likely a health violation. Yeah, I'll be going elsewhere and I'm a Golden Chick fan! This place scores a 2 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either. read more

tell me why I placed my order at 1:30 and I was told it was gonna take 15 mins. So I pulled into the drive thru and I got my order at 3:00. The cost is comparable to other chicken fast food chains. Service was wonderful and the food was great.

Got served mashed potatoes with some sort of brown crumbs or substance inside of them. to also add we didn't receive utensils and went through the drive through. when food was brought back, we did not even receive an apology or explanation of what this is not coming to this location again read more

This was our first time visiting here, and I'm glad we did. The fried chicken was crispy and fresh , even better with the spicy seasoning packets . The tenders and the fried fish were good as well. The service at the drive thru was excellent and friendly, and our large order was correct when we got home. Only downsides were the mac and cheese and the traffic, but still a solid 4.5 out of 5. read more

Not bad for a fast food place. Freshly fried catfish and okra was fried in cornmeal, just the way I like it! This location is a hit or miss on being freshly fried and tasting. Other locations have been better. read more

October 14th I went to Golden chick drive thru there was about 9 cars in front of me but my family of 5 wanted fried fish dinners. I arrived at 708 pm I left at 732pm no joke. I finally got to the speaker to see the list of sorry we dont have over half of our sides listed. The dirty rice and ice tea was my favorite .Then the voice comes on I say I need 4 fried fish dinners and one fried chicken tenders dinner. I'm sorry the voice said. We dont have fried fish. Great I'm stuck in line . I cant drive off. So all that time I got one chicken tender dinner for my youngest. I got a unsweetened tea with the combo.I get to the window. I say I need artificial sweetener for the tea she said what is that? I say spenda or equal. She says I have to ask I dont know what that is. Then I say the pink or yellow packets. That's a sweeter but not sugar. She looks clueless and leaves to go ask. If you work at any fastfood window at any chain. Maybe you know it as one of my 3 examples come on. If I dont see a change by there should be a sign posted if you are out of fish or baked chicken or fried chicken. Before you get trapped in line. I dont know I mean I used to come here weekly but I completely understand shortage right now. I do but let us know before we sit that long for nothing. So then we drove to Luguna Madre for fish dinners. My time is valuable. Plus I had a van with my hungry family with me just sitting and waiting. I'm sorry I'm frustrated. I even waited to post so I wasnt as mad anymore. read more

Today is my sister's birthday and she wanted to try Golden Chick for the first time. I spent $90 for all of us to have an early dinner and it was well worth it. Not only was the large order ready when I arrived, but it was mostly correct (forgot a small fry with the 3 piece spicy chicken tender meal) but there were so many ties with one of the other meals so sharing was not an issue. The girl that filled the order worked quickly and effectively so I want to give a personal shout out because it was not an easy order. I will always go back to that particular Golden Chick and recommend everyone else give it a try...or another try if you already have. Thanks to all the Golden Chick employees for making our first experience memorable. read more

I've been to Golden Chick plenty of times and always enjoyed everything from their fried chicken to their sides and complementary ice cream. The fried chicken I had on my last visit was quite juicy and has a distinctive taste to it. I had it with a side of mashed potatoes this time around and that was enjoyable as well. Food came out quick with very little wait time and the dining area always appears to be clean when I come in with a couple of TVs showcasing sports or something. I will continue coming back to Golden Chick. Wished they had more locations though. read more

A first time customer at this location and sadly disappointed. I did an online order for the nine piece s and legs half and half roasted and fried. I added a family size fries and family size mac and cheese and 12 rolls. I arrived a couple of minutes after the instructed pickup time and still had to wait somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes in their parking lot for them to bring it to me. I should have checked it before I left but I didn't. The chicken was fine but there was no mac and cheese and only a handful of french fries. I didn't go back for them to make it good as it was pouring down rain and it takes me about 20 minutes to get there. I called to see if they would take that portion off of my bill and of course they would not. Fast food places need to double and triple check their orders before sending them out the door! Folks are upset about the Rising star radio cost of eating out to begin with and when you short their orders that's a mistake neither you nor I can afford read more

Ordered 2- 4pc meals. Didn't receive gravy is one of the meals, didn't receive the zing sauce we ordered on the side, the fries are stale, soft and flavorless. No extra ice like was asked and our drinks are flat. $30 to be egregiously disappointed in our order. read more

Here chick chick! The chicken was so small I was looking under the seat for the rest of it lol. Ok but let me be fair. Rewind the video tape!! I decided today I wanted some baked chicken and why not go to golden chick I know they have it on the menu! The line wasn't long at all so why not have a nice lunch. I ordered 2 pieces and a 3 piece for my son! When we got home we were looking for the rest of the chicken. They were tiny pieces that didn't fill up even half the box! So basically you have to eat before you order from there or order the fried chicken instead. Wonder why the chicken is considerably smaller when it baked? Weird huh. Now I will say the customer service is about standard... not the extra warmth I get from many other franchises but eh it's ok! All I will say is don't go there hungry for a Perdue chicken lol you won't be happy! Sorry golden chick we need bigger chicken BUT it is tasty I will say that! For the price I think it's better just to go to H‑E‑B and get a whole baked chicken! read more

I love fried chicken...my husband not so much but he happened to stop Golden chick on afternoon and he loved it. We went there for dinner on Monday night. I was very pleasantly surprised with their fresh, huge, juicy and delicious fried chicken. Plus their hot, lightly butter rolls were soooo good! Definitely, the best compared to Bill Miller's, Church's and Popeye! The cherry on the top is their friendly service. The young guy that took our order was very attentive even brought us an extra drum stick. He said because the one they had given us was supposedly sitting under the hot lightd for a few minutes (which was still hot and so good) and the one he brought us was fresh. Golden Chick on Potranco is our place for fried chicken from now on!!! If you haven't tried them.... Stop by and enjoy!! read more

Tenders were good. Mac and cheese is trash. I can't believe they serve that to their customers. Cole slaw was ok...ish. Wont be going back!

9-25-2018 (Lunch). Decent place to eat. Had the chicken strips and they were good. Price was excellent and the cashier was knowledgeable and courteous. Ordered the large Okra but wanted hot and fresh. No problem as she immediately called to the back to put a large Okra down. Only problem encountered was that she called out my number when the food was ready for pick up but she didn't use the microphone. With all the noise going on, we didn't hear our number called until I looked up and saw her wave at me. Will return again as this is a great place for a quick lunch and the wait is minimal. read more

I ordered from here and my meal was supposed to come with 3 rolls. I hate to bash this place because I do like there food. If I could give this place a zero star I would give this place a zero star. My order was supposed to be picked up at 6:55 p.m., they gave me no indication on how I'm supposed to pick up my food because I ordered pickup so I proceeded to call the store and they told me to come inside. I waited at the door as the employees just watch me stand at the door and nobody let me in. I had to wait for another Uber eat or some type of driver to go and leave the store so I can get into the store myself. Once finally getting my order I went home to find out that my order was all wrong and I was missing items and the food was absolutely terrible and cold. I called the facility and they told me to come up which would make this my second trip up there for them to replace my order again. So I went back up got the New order, and at first glance everything looked to be there. I get back home to realize that they only gave me half of my order again and the food that was supposed to be fresh was just thrown in there and hold. At this point very angry I called back. I called the facility again letting them know that they messed up my order again for them to tell me that I ordered something else and I had to give my confirmation so I asked for a refund and they told me that unless I came back up for the third time that I would be unable to get my refund but could come back at a later date to get an order like the one I originally ordered. The employee told me that this was directly from the district manager's mouth so I asked what happens if I don't come up tonight she told me to put the chicken in my refrigerator and then I can bring it up at a later date that suited me. I have never especially since covid seen a place take food back that already been contaminated if you will from another person's order so I hope whomever got the chicken we were already ordered that they don't get sick. And now my third trip back just to get my refund they told me to bring the order so I hope that they don't turn around and just resell this to any other customer. I do not know or understand why the district manager would have me come all the way back up to the facility to get a refund when it wasn't my mess up. Mind you $50 in the economy now is a lot and the fact that this is my third trip up to the facility because they did not get the order correct twice is absolutely ridiculous. I do not know what's going on in this facility, I thought this would be a good experience and a new place that I would like to potentially keep as a good family night dinner but after this service I will never, and I mean never with a capital N go back to this facility ever again. The staff and they're ruling of their eyes and their attitude was enough to do me in for good read more
