Golden Chick in Princeton, Texas is by far my favorite Golden Chick location, and it's well worth the 20-mile drive from my house. The service at the drive-through is consistently excellent. On my most recent visit, Reyna helped me at the window and did a fantastic job. She noticed how I was ordering and suggested changing a few items from à la carte to combo options, which actually saved me money. I really appreciated her attention to detail and her willingness to help me get the best value. The food was outstanding as always. The spicy wings and okra were delicious, and the 3-piece chicken dinner was hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Overall, great food, great value, and top-notch customer service. Golden Chick - like if Popeyes had a dope ass auntie or uncle, this would be it. Well maybe like if they had a sister? Honestly you choose the family member, but know they would be a favorite. Quality chicken, delicious bread with a semi sweet taste and fresh, crispy fries. The drink was sweet as hell though (referring to hell as sweet was crazy, I know). The drink was a raspberry lemonade. We went through the drive thru so I don't have too much to comment on as it relates to the ambiance. The service was smooth though. Let me start by saying, I was very disappointed with my meal portions for what you pay. My 3 baked chicken meal looked smaller than a kids meal. My pieces of chicken looked like small pieces of quail road kill. I had a leg, wing, and you had the nerve to up the charge for a breast...really ! My leg and wing together hardly made a satisfactory size. Looking at this meal, my stomach growl will live on until I get home. If I could give a star lower than 1 I would have. A lot of the fast food in Princeton is trash so I was worried about coming here because of the reviews. But a lot of them were older, so I took the risk and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was hot and fresh. No clue what the inside is like, but the drive though was pretty fast and the staff I interacted with was pleasant. Everything that was fried was soooo wonderfully crispy. The outside of the building is a little rough. Menu hangin on for dear life. But the food was solid. Apparently "No Gravy" is the hardest concept ever for the Princeton Location. Every other Golden Chicken I've been to - (Which I frequent cause it's my favorite) - is fine. This location sucks. It's old, nasty, and I don't know if it's poor management or careless workers, but the last FOUR times I've gotten food from this location just myself, they've messed it up, and the manager got snotty with me the last two times I had them fix it at the window. Maybe read the ticket correctly the first time ? Especially since I say it multiple times during ordering, ask at the window to check, double check for myself to make sure and it's still INCORRECT! Whether it's my food, my partner's, or my family's, the Princeton location messes it up!! It's not hard to read an order screen! I do it everyday as a server! I would give this store a 0 if i could. First i walk in not a single hello, welcome in nothing i just got looked at until someone came to the counter. I then order my food about 15 minutes go by the lady comes up to us saying they ran out of chicken legs we say okay that's fine the other type of chicken they have will do she said okay. 15 minutes later goes by comes back to us to say they ran out of macaroni she asked if we wanted to wait another 15 for the mac we said fine we will wait. 15 minutes later I walk up to the counter to ask how much longer they said another 8 for the macaroni but 15 minutes ago they said it would only take 15 minutes. Here i am waiting the 8 minutes lobby is filling up all the workers just look at the lobby full of people and call one person from the back to help the lobby. I was watching one girl be on her phone while making the food. Not to mention when i was waiting for my food about 10-15 cars were in and out the drive thru and a man had came and ordered a family meal while I had a sandwich , chicken thighs, and mac. They didn't apologize for the wait they didn't give anything extra for the wait nothing. Just here you go bye. Overall LAZY and HORRIBLE customer service. So the food here is ok. Not great, not terrible. My husband and I won't be returning However, because of the creepy Indian guy. I've always seen him working whenever we went in. He would low key stare at me, but never say anything. I ignored it. Then we go in one day. Golden Chick has it's ups and downs. We stopped in on Friday 11-15-2019 for lunch. The counter service was good. Long wait for our catfish junior combos. Catfish was very good. Sides were lousy as usual for Golden chick. Nothing interesting except the salad. Potato salad is always made with under-cooked potatoes. I settled on the coleslaw. Not as good as KFC. The condiments were a disaster. Had to ask for tartar sauce. Also asked for zing powder and honey. Tartar sauce was Kraft. OK but not great. Got Zing sauce instead of Zing powder. OK but not good. Honey was "honey sauce" Ingredients: Honey,corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, water, natural and artificial flavor. Just like a "phony baloney" Beyond Meat Burger King Whopper. The "honey" was probably Chinese import with plenty of adulteration. Real HONEY has nothing to do with Corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup! A shame to ruin tasty biscuits with this glop! I am a former bee keeper. Get REAL US honey! Golden Chick usually has acceptable chicken and catfish. Their sides ruin what could be a good meal. Cook your potatoes in the potato salad! So disappointing to get liver that were not freshly cooked and some "bites" that weren't even livers. I called my order in and asked for 6 extra rolls. Please do not go to this Golden Chick, I've tried over and over again to eat at this place but the food is always horrible. I hadn't been in a couple of months because the chicken is most often spoiled. Today is the last time, I'll never patronize this place again. I'm nauseous after eating this chicken. One piece tasted ok, but the second piece was very rotten. I'm calling the health department to file a complaint. I called Golden Chick to let them know that the chicken was spoiled but a non understanding manager became irate with me and hung up the phone. This is my second review of Golden Chick. Much happier a year later. Only one table was unoccupied when we entered. The counter crew were keeping up with customers. My wife and I each ordered the Fish JR Combo. Our order was placed at 12:15 Friday 94-21-2017). Our meal was delivered to our table at 12:25 . The fish was piping hot and freshly fried. Fast food! The catfish was firm with a delicious cornmeal breading. Nice light fish taste. No muddiness. My wife liked her side salad. My potato salad side was good. The rolls were great. The so-called Honey-sauce not so much. We both had the complementary soft-serve icecream cone. Delicious as always. The 6 person crew was outstanding. Most of them were trainees, but had a trainer close at hand to provide cues. Everybody was busy. The tables were kept bused. The place was spotless. Five stars to the crew leader. We pulled up at 9:40, they close at 10. When I went to order catfish, the boy told me they weren't sure if the cook was there to cook the catfish. Thankfully, he said someone could make it. When we get to the window, a girl came up and said they didn't have Okra "down" (I'm assuming this means under the heat lamps), she said it takes 4 minutes to cook and asked me if I would like another side- ( In my head im thinking "I'm waiting the 12 minutes for my catfish, so what is 4 minutes?" ) Disappointed, I just told her I'd take Mac. The boy hands me the first drink, the lid is filled with soda on top, as well as soda dripping down the sides. I asked for a napkin while I hang it out of the window to wipe the cup off so that there is not soda in my cup holder. The second drink comes out the same way and I wipe it with the same napkin. At this point, I am very annoyed. The third drink was good to go. Then, comes the fourth drink - same way, covered in soda. I asked for more napkins so I could wipe it off. He walked away from the window and came back with the bag of rolls and went to hand me the bag of food and rolls- meanwhile I'm still hanging the drink out of the window. He looks annoyed when I ask again for napkins, after he hands me the napkins he stands there handing the food out waiting for me to grab the bags. I check the top boxes, just to see if everything is there. I asked for tarter sauce and lemons for the two orders of catfish. He said it's in the box. I said, I have checked them both and it is not in there. He left and came back with 4 packs of tarter sauce. I asked again for lemons- (y'all know I need my lemons with my catfish) he stated they didn't have any left. I was to the point where I really just wanted to ask for my money back, but I didn't because it was super late and my girls needed to eat dinner. I get home, open the two boxes on bottom of the bag. My youngest daughter got the junior kids meal with two chicken strips. She has one small chicken strip, and one piece of chicken about size of a McDonalds chicken nugget and she had no side and no gravy. Y'all... I rarely ever order fast food, it has in fact been at least a month since the last time I bought fast food. Normally, I'd skip it and just be sad they forgot something- but at this point I'm livid. My 6 year old won't even have enough to fill her up. So, I get the kids back in the car and head back up there, pulling back in at 10:05 pm. As soon as I show the boy at the window, he says what in the world? And starts yelling a girls name- Maria maybe? He said they didn't have any gravy left, I didn't even care so much about the gravy and I told him that, i just wanted her chicken strip and her side. On 2/19/2017 ordered the family mixer, asked if it would be possible to get 4 breast and 4 legs and of course the tenders. The employee asked the manager, Sharone, and was told yes they could do that. Get the food home, another town, and have 4 legs, 4 thighs and of course the tenders. Called and spoke with manager and she basically called us liars, saying we asked for the thighs not breast. I don't eat dark meat or tenders, so no, we would not have asked for basically all dark meat. She advised me breast cost more, yes I understand that, that was not a problem. That is all she was concerned with, money, So for dinner I had mashed potatoes and gravy. I called corp. on Monday 2/20/2017 and was transferred to a voice mail. As of 2/24/2017, no call back. On 2/22/2017, I sent a message through their "Contact Us" page, as of 2/24/2017 still no response.
