I usually don't go out of my way to leave bad reviews but this couldn't go without say. Went through the drive-thru and ordered a golden chicken sandwich and lemon pepper wings. It was decently busy in the drive-thru but once I paid I was told to pull up front. Problem #1: So the drive-thru line leads straight to 183 aka a highway while the parking lot is on the left side and you can't quite get over there unless you get on the opposite side of traffic to pull into the driveway or circle the block to enter the back entrance. Problem #2: Once we got settled in the parking lot we waited another 10 minutes so I went in to check up on our order and was told it will take a minute. Waited another 5 minutes and I noticed the bag that had the sandwich was put in in front of me from the side, so I wanted to see if the sandwich was still hot after sitting there so long which it wasn't. I usually don't care but who I'm getting the sandwich for is picky about food being cold when they get it. I asked if the lady who looked like the manager running the whole kitchen if the sandwich is cold or not, she replies "Maybe You Should Check For Yourself" So I did and it was ice cold. So I asked for her to heat it up or make a new one which she said she will and she did but... Problem #3: So that sandwich got back to me in 1.5-2 minutes after and I started heading home when my partner after a few bites realized the sandwich had instead of the typical thick chicken patty that comes with the sandwich Ive bought idk how many times, it had 3 chicken tenders covered with a slice of cheese. The chicken is always good no complaints there. But you can tell they are under staffed. We waited 20 minutes for our food. They did not put our sides in our order. Yes we could've checked but we trusted that the employees knew what a combo consisted of. When we opened our boxes to just rolls and chicken after paying $30 was upsetting. Yikes! I was super excited to try the Buffalo wings. I thought they were boneless and coincidentally the first wing I bit into was a boneless wing.I was not expecting to bite into a bone on my second piece. I realize that I didn't ask if they were boneless and decided to eat them as is. Unfortunately, they were all drowned in layers of batter with very little Buffalo sauce. Driving in from work we'd figure to pick up some food so we wouldn't have to cook and chose this establishment for Friday evening dinner. As you pull up to the drive thru area the equipment is partially damaged. Broken area of the drive thru that makes it look kinda ghetto. But either way someone is already behind us so we continue and pay no mind. We ordered a 6 piece catfish with a side of green beans and cole slaw. We pay 21 dollars and some change. The wait was long. We get home which is right around the corner and set ourselves up to eat. One of the worst catfish meals I've ever eaten. To start off, the catfish was super dry, cold, and extremely oily as if it had just been dropped in used oil and was "refried". It was mainly all batter with hardly any fish in eat. We couldn't eat it because of how dry, cold, and super greasy it was. That's how bad it was. The coleslaw was super sugary. The green beans had an excessive amount of "smoky" flavor. We had to end up throwing it away. What a shame, and definitely a waste of our money. Place at up at the drive thru looks messy as well. Place had dirty windows and could of been be a bit more tidy and presentable. But then again, what for? Nasty food did us in. read more

This location is a hit or miss but today was a terrible experience and the last time I'll be visiting this Lockhart store. The lady on the switchboard was extremely rude and rushed me. As I was ordering she continued to interrupt me. Second thing when I got to the window she had my order wrong so I corrected her once she read my order back. After getting our food we were missing our family order fry so I went back inside to grab it. Then get home find out the bread was hard as a rock. The chicken was old and tough and the fries were extremely cold. And gravy was clumpy as if someone didn't mix it throughly. This crew clearly doesn't care and is the reason they lost me and my family as a customer today. Get better management or find ppl that actually want to do a decent job. The customer service was decent so I would give it 4 stars. The sweet tea was just sugar water (maybe a small amount of tea used) and all the sodas were flat tasting. The fried chicken was juicy but tasted like it was sitting out for hours. The mac and cheese is terrible. Fries tasted like they were just soaked in oil and thrown in a bag. It's fast food, so you can't expect too much. I do enjoy stopping at this particular Golden Chick location as I travel from Austin to Beeville and back a lot. The food always meets my expectations and customer service always is great here. The floor and seats seem to have a grease feel at times, but it is a fried chicken place, so I assume that is to be somewhat expected. This is a great stop location if you're traveling through. read more

Never having eaten Golden Chick in all my 48 years I was extremely impressed with the food. Very tasty and fresh. Would have received 5 stars but.......... every table in the place was dirty. The floor in the dining hall needed swept. I will say again the food was incredible. Probably won't go back due to the dirty restaurant. Always afraid of catching something because of not being clean. I guess we will have to settle for KFC unless I hear they are keeping it clean. read more

I've had meals from here multiple times and every time I have a great experience. The staff are so sweet and I always get my order right. The food is great and they give hefty portions. Lockhart has a small town and everyone is so sweet. I love coming here and my family usually eats here about once a week to keep the fast food meals at a low. read more

Very bland food, no seasoning what so ever, and it's not the first time this has happen with these people, they are not brining the chicken and add no seasoning. I am not wasting money there again, next time I will dress and go to Sirloin Stockade where the fried chicken is tasty. read more

This place was great for fast food chicken. The chicken pieces were huge it was some of the best chicken I have every ate. Much better then Popeye's or KFC. They even give you a free ice cream cone if you eat inside. read more

Been going here for a few years. Always get the same thing. 4 PC CHICKEN STRIP MEAL. Always been happy a & full. Lately though (the last 4 times) the chicken strips were half the size. I dont know if they're doing it own purpose to increase profits or what, but I can no longer recommend this restaurant @ this particular location. read more

Went there last night. They first said it would be 20 min till chicken was ready. Was in a hurry so I told them just give me my money back. All of a sudden the cook come up with a box containing my order. I took it home. At 2:30 this am my stomach was rolling and I had a major case of diarrhea. Again at 4:20. Around 700 this am I burped and could still taste it. Made a bad mistake. I will keep going next time I am in that situation. Bet it had been sitting out all day. as the quote on the cups say "the original and still the best!" i've eaten at a lot of golden chicks, but this one that i've grown up with, while small, takes the cake everytime. the staff is awesome and treat you with that southern hospitality. definitely would recommend! read more
