This morning was my first time trying P. Terry's Burger Stand in San Marcos, and it did not disappoint. The egg burger was delicious! I asked an employee for a recommendation, and she suggested the spicy bacon and egg sandwich. I couldn't decide between sausage or bacon, so I went with her recommendation. I'm not sure if she made my order, but the woman in the red sweatshirt was incredibly kind, and my food was ready very quickly. She handed me exactly what I ordered and even surprised me with a free sausage and egg burger to try. The dining area was very clean, and the service was outstanding. I definitely recommend trying P. Terry's and will absolutely be coming back!!! read more

P Terry's is rather solid fast food restaurant. It was not bad and it wasn't the best. For a fast food restaurant you can definitely tell the difference in the quality of their ingredients. The veggies were fresh. The fries were not as greasy as many fast food restaurants. The service was very quick and the servers were friendly. If I were to change something to make it better it would be the level of cleanliness. Making sure the tables, floors and the ice machine areas are clean is very important. today we drove through PTerrys in San Marcos and I made a few mistakes such as forgetting to ask for Swiss cheese instead of American cheese and forgetting to leave off the sauce from our hamburger. And I also forgot to ask them to cut it in half but they still did all these things and had the order exactly the way we had ended up ordering it. I know the guy must've been frustrated with but he never showed it at all got the excellent food that we always get from P Terrys. I took advantage of being within walking distance to this place during my visit to San Marcos for the 2025 Texas Master Naturalist Annual Meeting. I had always wanted to try the one in San Antonio, but never had. The drive through was actually swamped, but the dining room was empty. I walked up to the counter, ordered my food, and took it to my table within about five minutes. This is definitly fast food. My cheeseburger was reminiscent of a Burger Chef cheeseburger from back in the day. I liked it and the low "under 4 dollars" price. However, my last bite had a high concentration of whatever seasoning they used, which I did not find appealing. The fries were tasty. They were rather thin for my tastes. Also, they were too long, making it hard to dip them in ketchup without double dipping. I also splurged and had a vanilla shake. There was nothing special about it. It was the typical poured from a machine kind you get at any fast food restaurant. That's a good thing. Those are my favorite ones. If I am ever reliant on fast food, I would definitly choose P. I ordered a root beer shake but was given a vanilla shake and when I alerted them they said it was right because they made it. We have driven past this chain of restaurants for years but have never tried them until now. We stopped at this location on a recent road trip and we are glad we did. The burgers were great. The hand cut fries were tasty. The Reese's peanut butter cup shake was a perfect treat. The staff were friendly and efficient. The prices were very reasonable. We were hoping to eat outside at a table because we had our dog with us, but they didn't have any outside tables. We will try this place again in the future. read more

They will give your Uber eats order away, then gaslight you, when you call and say hey, no one's picked up my order. Then they'll refuse to cancel the order for several hours and just let multiple Uber eats drivers lose money, instead of just take responsibility. read more

My first time to one of these establishments. The unique exterior and that shade of teal never fails to attract attention. Took 15 minutes to get my order, 2 sandwiches and fries. I would accept this if the food were really fresh, but my fries were barely lukewarm and my burger was ice cold. Also the tea was stale and had no date/time for swap out. The order taker seemed like we were doing him a favor by giving our order. And despite telling him it was our first time, the service was just as lackluster. One a personal preference, I'm not a fan of shoestring, over cooked fries, but I can't fault them for my taste. Their fries are decent. The burgers are more than edible. Their shakes are delicious, and their cookies can be addicting. Their shakes of the month always draw me in, but the last few months have been subpar shakes of the month. Sad. I still have high hopes for their future shakes and will always be on the lookout for new stuff they bring to the table. read more

AVOID NEW CHICKEN SPECIAL. It's ground up processed non sense. Does not hold a candle to Chick Fil A. Get orders right first time, fix it no problem. The morning staff are terrible! They told me to wait at the intercom and I've been here for 10 minutes? I'm the only person in line and it's 10:20AM. I finally spoke up and they said sorry for the wait and they were ready for my order.... I get to the window and the lady is on the phone laughing and talking with someone. She then didn't speak to me at the window, just reached for my card and didn't respond to my "Hey, how's it going?" or "thank you." Well by my car my favorite location physically! It's so clean and spacious compared to the Austin locations, I get my burger lettuce wrapped and some would love it... but I had to pull off 3 slices of lettuce and still have 2 wrapped! But more for your money, I guess lol! I had a great time with a friend here, space was where we had private conversations and genuinely enjoyed each other's company, would definitely go back here with group, by myself, or with one friend! Sunday 3:00 PM Restaurant inside is filthy. Food, trash and tables all covered in gunk. No one in the dinning area so I'm not sure when it was trashed. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned. This P. Terry's is a great place to rest up and refuel your stomach when taking a road trip down to South Texas. The location is well managed and the inside tables and chairs are consistently clean! The burgers here are reasonably priced and the portions are filling! I ordered the cheeseburger and my mom ordered the spicy crispy chicken burger. We also split an order of fries. My cheeseburger was a bit lukewarm, but the beef patty was seasoned well and very juicy. I tried a bite of the spicy crispy chicken burger and the spicy sauce that P. Terry's uses provide a nice kick of spice. It paired well with the swiss cheese and the chicken breast was well breaded and crispy. My main complaint with P. Terry's would be the fries. I prefer my fries to be crispy and seasoned, but the fries here did not have any seasoning and were not crispy at all. I think these fries would pair well with one of their milkshakes, so I'll give them another shot. Overall, P. Terry's is a great value for a quick meal and as a fellow Texan, it's always a good idea to try out and support local Texas businesses! read more

This was my first time at a P. Terry's -- saw the ad on a highway sign near the exit and decided to try it. The location was very convenient, service was fast and friendly, menu was simple yet descriptive (so no one had to ask what comes on the burgers), prices were reasonable, and the food was ready within minutes. I'd not been a fan of P. Terry's in the past, stopping only out of convenience at a location near my old residence. My dine-in experience at the San Marcos location has totally changed my mind! The quality of food and service is consistently high. Staff are friendly and greet everyone quickly. We enjoy the crispy chicken sandwich -- I add grilled onions. Today's lunch surpassed in service, as I observed Isaah, a team member constantly circled the dining room. Wiping down tables, sweeping, wiping drink area. I've never seen a "fast food" dining area to this level of cleanliness that I can would describe as immaculate. Kudos to P. Terry's San Marcos for their hardworking and dedicated team!! read more

Pandemic review: SAFE! CLEAN! Employees wore masks and gloves. The dining area appeared closed and everyone seemed to be using the drive-thru. The employee was kind enough to sanitize my credit card before returning it to me. Will be happy to return to grab family meals to go. This was my first time visiting this location. I ordered the fried chicken spicy sandwich, with a dr. Pepper. The drink tasted like dirt water and the chicken looked like a deformed chicken nugget. What really got me was the pickles, I understand they have thick pickles; but imagine cutting a pickle into 4ths and placing all of it on a sandwich. I want to think maybe I just got food at the wrong time (8pm/9pm) but the burger was disgusting and very greasy for it being just cheese and meat with mustard. I had got it from doordash so I can't really say too much about the store itself. The banana bread is awesome tho.
