Very disappointing bagel, minimal options for breakfast sandwiches, crumbs on tables, coffee was okay, wouldn't go back.

I don't know what to talk about first. The cheesecake. Their business model. Trust. Faith…read more Okay, the cheesecake. FRICKEN' AMAZING and DELICIOUS. Every single flavor that we tried...... and we had a really difficult time deciding which flavors to try of their 60 +/- flavors AT ALL TIMES. We didn't want to be pigs about it... well, actually, we DID want to be pigs, but we didn't let ourselves, and it was darn difficult to limit how many flavors to try out of 60. Every piece was fresh, perfectly made cheesecake, and every flavor was well represented. Being in Maine, we HAD to try blueberry cheesecake. We also tried strawberry, lemon blueberry, cannoli, apple crisp, and s'mores. Sad to say, we never finished them, but we tried them all, and they lasted a good long while. All were perfect and delicious. Now, for their business model. Imagine a business open 24/7... the doors are always open, and NOBODY is working in the storefront with the exception of people (the owners, I'm assuming) loading in more cheesecake flavors when they run out. The business is run COMPLETELY on the honor system. If memory serves, there are 3 ways to pay, but I only recall with specificity the Venmo way to pay cuz that's what I used. I think they accepted checks and one more way to pay, but I don't really recall. Let me be clear, though... it is up to each individual to be on their honor system and pay for what they want to take. Where else on this earth do you know of any retail type shop where people are left to their honor to pay for goods? I have never heard of nor seen any such thing like this before. I could have just as easily walked right out with my cheesecake slices and not paid for any of them. Nobody would have known. They don't check. They don't ask. I'm so impressed by this business model and the fact that it works !!!! I witnessed it. Everyone was paying. It truly is a testament about faith and trust, and it still works. This is just brilliant. Momo's also sells gargantuan pieces of carrot cake, which we did not try, as well as whoopie pies, which we also didn't try. If they sell other items besides the above, I just didn't see them, but I think they have quite enough already. Sixty + flavors of cheesecake alone should keep people happy. The only downside to Momo's is that we live nowhere near it, but I'm truly glad for the experience we had.

Such a fun experience to go in and make some tough decisions - or don't and just get one of each! I didn't realize I needed a grab and go cheesecake experience in my life until my friend sent a reel about this place!! I got the lemon blueberry, it was amazing. So much flavor, well balanced combo of lemon and blueberry coming through! My friend got the Cherry Garcia and I tried a bite, it was good, nice cherry and chocolate pairing! Apologies to the those facing lactose challenges, this place is going to feel like torture! I did get some baklava, which as also delicious! There are some other cake options as well.

Based on your Yelp recommendations, I decided to come here for ice cream on my 2021 Maine vacation…read more It was worth the 35 minute drive (seems like everything is 35 minutes from where you are in Maine). When we got to Spencer's about a half hour before closing on a Sunday, there were at least seven cars in the drive-through lane, so we decided to go inside. Yelp also has a 50% off check-in coupon in addition to a $20 for $25 deal. But, upon getting to the small front patio we discovered that the store is going through renovations and you have to stand outside and wait until the teen staffers come out to take your order, go back in to make it, come back out to get your payment and bring you your ice cream, and then another trip for your change. Rather inefficient, and another party who actually tried to go inside and then told to wait outside ended up cutting the line by having their orders taken before ours and others. Anyway, because our kids did not want to take the trip with mom and dad, we purchased some pints to go. There's numerous flavors to choose from and you can get shakes, sundaes, cones, cups, and it seemed that everyone loves Spencer's. We ended up with vanilla cookies and cream, chocolate cookies and cream, apple pie, and blueberry. The staffer said that the coupon was not meant for pints but gave me the deal anyway. When we got home we dove in and really enjoyed the high end ice cream. Unfortunately, no one in the family was super impressed with it. But, you can't go wrong with local ice cream over a chain. $20 for the four pints without the check-in coupon. $10 with. Gave the $20, keep the change for the staff.

The theme is comfort foods, so it would be optimistic to count on chef quality cuisine. Still, the offering had a few disappointments. Mind you, the pot roast was excellent, tender and tasty, and the juice (au jus?) was much better for the mashed potatoes than the canned gravy they put next to the taters. The bbq pulled pork, the mac and cheese were fine, and I didn't risk trying the dumplings, chicken fingers, French fries or chicken pot pie. The desserts, of course were also okay. The chicken broccoli Alfredo and the pineapple rice chicken dish were also okay. No doubt I would have liked it much more if it came with a few of my own comfort food favorites, such as meatballs, kielbasa and peppers/onion, pasta dishes such as spaghetti, American chop suey or lasagna - well, I could go on. The key is to check on Facebook and see what they are cooking for the buffet before you make plans.

I used to eat here far too often when I was attending UMO. Governor's is a Maine staple going back decades.
