We made the mistake of trying aroma joes for the first time during the UMaine family and friends weekend so the drive thru line was to the road because they weren't open inside. Ordered a bagel with butter and was given two solid wrapped butters that were so solid they broke the plastic fork. All kids and students working. No leadership. Don't go out of your way. I have been coming to this Aroma's since I started college at UMaine in Fall of 2019. Even throughout COVID, the service was always great considering how busy they always were. However, lately, that has changed. I went in today to order an AJ's Rush Spritzer, a drink I only recently tried as I randomly decided to order something new. I love the drink, but the service I encountered today left a lot to be desired. The first thing that happened was when I ordered the drink. All I asked for was a "Spritzer Rush with Raspberry flavoring" and the barista looked at me like I was speaking Simlish. She had no idea what I was asking for and when she asked for clarification, another employee rolled her eyes and said "They keep changing the menu and not telling us, it's an Italian Rush." To me, she said, "Next time call it an Italian Rush." I apologized as I was just going off from what the menu said. There were several people ahead of me, so I was fine with waiting for my drink. So I sat down and waited for them to call out the order like they usually do, but after a couple minutes and the lobby clearing out, I realized they hadn't called it out. I guess they just lined all the drinks up on the counter and expected us to know which was which. I tried to get the attention of someone behind the counter to make sure it was the correct order, but was ignored. As someone with multiple food allergies, I try not to risk it by potentially grabbing the wrong drink. As I left, I overheard another customer realize that something was missing from her order, so she went up to the counter and politely called out, "Excuse me!" to catch someone's attention. She called out several times and continued to be ignored while the staff were chatting and joking back and forth. This review is not to deter anyone from going because I truly think the quality of food and beverage exceeds the quality of service here. But I really hope that the service improves, especially as tourist season arrives. Most people around here are rather nice, even when they receive poor service, but I know not everyone visiting Maine over the summer will be as patient with the staff as many locals are. read more

Roasted: In Bangor and found this coffee shop the next town over. It was only open for drive thru right now. They had a decent menu selection and food selection. Barista at window was friendly enough but wanted to move the line fast for sure. Lots of flavor choices with sugar free options. I ordered an Aroma Mocha and based on my experience with coffee - a mocha is typically mixed with chocolate. My mocha was awful - it was incredibly foamy like I asked for an extra foamy latte and had no taste of chocolate. It was undrinkable. I had to throw it out and go get Dunkin' across the street. Sadly - I won't seek this place out again. Unroasted: really hard to fully review a place that is not offering indoor service but here it goes. This shop is found on the round about in Orono Maine. Looks like it's all college kids that work these shops and were very friendly. They had all the usual flavors with some Maine specific flavors. My latte was pretty good. I was able to drink it and enjoy it. Other then that nothing spectacular about it. I would come back to give an indoor review. read more

They're always wearing their masks under their nose. I sent my friends to go pick up a rush for me for the free Monday sugar free rush and they refused to make an exception for i who have covid and can't leave my house. But they can give a free rush to a friend who's at work and can't make it in time. Edit(reply to owner) It's not the frustration of the fact that they wouldn't honor the discount it was the issue of the fact that two weeks ago on the first Monday my roommate went and picked up her free rush and I called ahead and explain to them that I was at work and was not able to make it before closing and that night they chose to honor the free rush even though I was not present and my roommate walked away with two rushes and was able to deliver one to me at work, yet today we went through the drive-through just as she did in the past and they would not honor it for a Covid patient who was just trying to keep employees safe by not attending Who very well could've gone through the drive-through and put every employee at risk? basically all I have to say is that my friends and I went to go get our free drinks from downloading the precious app. then we get there and the lobby is closed! not even at a decent time it's 2PM! so we hype up and get in the drive through line and stick it out for our free drinks and maybe even a bagel on the side. then we pull up and they only let us do two orders! I'd understand this any other day but i cant go in the lobby to fix this issue! now I didn't even get my free drink. I'm really upset. read more

Extremely unprofessional work environment. I could hear/see the red headed woman screaming at an employee for the entirety of my time both in line and while ordering. I recently went to the location in Waterville for the first time, which led me to make a visit to the Aroma Joe's closest to me. The customer service at this location was excellent, the girl who assisted us was very helpful and polite, even when I kept forgetting to say that I wanted the sugar free syrups and correcting myself, she somehow managed to keep track of my drink order. And that is even before mentioning the amazingly delicious drink itself. I got the strongest energy drink mix they offered, with mango, blackberry and peach syrups and it tasted amazing, and helped me feel more awake. Definitely will be back. read more

Aroma Joe's is great to bring your laptop too and get some work done. The staff are very friendly, the tea is great and you get a lot for a small price. The atmosphere tends to be very loud between their machines cranking away and the customers talking, but I still prefer this place over other coffee shops. read more

I gave up going to the Orono location about 6 months ago because the wifi was miserable--half the time I could not connect and when I could it was VERY slow. I finally went back this morning, figuring that it would be fixed by now...nope. It's 2017 AJ, coffee shops should have reliable wifi, Too bad, the service and coffee are good but it's not worth the headache if you want to sit down and do some homework. I'm done. The coffee and Tea is very good. The baristas don't seem to be able to take orders very well. Confusing simple things such as (french toast and french roast). Also on more than one occasion when ordering more than one coffee, both coffees were slightly wrong, the way information is passed along needs to be better. The coffee is much better than all competitors in the area but they will fail if they keep on screwing up simple orders. read more
