I make the two hour trip to Bangor at least three times a year to stock up on these amazing bagels. I usually get 6+ dozen because they freeze really well. My family gets very excited when I come home with my haul! This place almost always has a line, but don't let that deter you. The staff is fabulous and moves people along rather quickly. I call ahead to order or order online which also speeds things along. There is a large seating area which is a wonderful gathering space for friends to enjoy breakfast or lunch with a coffee. They have a great selection of sandwiches!

I would show you a picture of my bagel but it was so good I forgot to take one.

It's always an amazing deli, foods pretty fast and bagels and pastries are delicious. The only thing I could say is sub par is the ambience it's a little crowded and loud but besides that highly recommended

Finally made it into the famous Begal Central, not for a lack of trying. Lines are almost always out the door. The freshly made bagels and spreads were delicious! So many options. And the atmosphere was friendly with a nice buzz in the air from people chatting. Definitely coming back to try thier sweets!

This place makes their own bagel and cream cheese, they also have baked goods. The bagels and cream cheese are fantastic. It can be hit or miss with some of the baked goods. The cookies n napoleons are awesome but the fruit tart was not great because the shortbread was very thick. I had the breakfast sandwich and I added tomatoes n spinach and it was delicious. My husband had the chorizo omelette and that was a little disappointing. The place is cafeteria style. It only has 1 bathroom and could use some repairs as the floor was being held together with duck tape in many places. Definitely stick to their bagels and some of their baked items here. It's definitely worth a visit

Best Bagels I've ever eaten! Lines go quick and service is friendly! The Lox spread on their garlic bagel was Devine! Absolutely loved their blueberry bagel with honey butter as well! Bagel Central is a must stop if you are in the area!

Delicious food, good coffee and friendly service. Lots of communal seating. Only regret is not trying some of their seasonal pastries

Very popular spot! Long line on weekends but they move it fast. Great food and friendly staff! The french toast was delicious. Overall highly recommend, Bagel Central is a Bangor establishment!

Phenomenal NY bagel in Maine. Had the Bagelwich - marble rye, 2 egg, cheese and veggies - also available with sausage and/or bacon. Extensive breakfast/lunch menu, great looking baked goods - would be a regular stop, if I lived here - highly recommend.

This was one of the best bagels I have ever had. They cook your toppings into the eggs and I honestly loved that. The service was fast and the place was huge to accommodate lots of people! 10/10 stop on our way to Acadia

The location and ambience is fun. But the staff is not helpful, they seem bored and annoyed that you are there. We ordered our food and we had to do all the prompting for our own food. Coffee is like gas station coffee. Don't go out of your way for this place, find something different.

Best bagel in Maine; great little spot. Awesome atmosphere and staff. Good coffee. Can't wait to come back and try the deserts.

    Chicken salad melt sandwich

Holy smokes I did not expect this sandwich to be this good. We were going to another place to eat but it was closed and stopped in here instead. I had the chicken salad melt and it was amazing. Truly one of the best sandwiches I have eaten. So glad we stopped here.

Stopped by The Grind House on my way through from Bar Harbor to Boston Logan International…read more I was excited to see an impossible breakfast sandwich on the menu as well as a peanut butter mocha. Seriously, two of my favorite things to see on a coffee house menu. That said the execution was a bit off for me. The Impossible breakfast sandwich was served on an insubstantial bun (the type that is more air than anything) and was overall pretty basic. Their signature sauce mentioned in several dishes, seems to be thousand island or maybe tartar sauce? Either way, it wasn't my favorite. The peanut butter mocha was also a bit of a miss for me. I wasn't a fan of either their chocolate or their espresso (or the peanut butter flavor they used, for that matter). The shop itself is quirky and comfortable. We were able to get a spot by the windows, which was nice and the service was lovely. It would definitely be a good and comfortable spot for working and it could be that had I ordered differently, it may have been more my cup of tea (or coffee, as they case may be). But for what I ordered, it was a bit of a swing and a miss.

Walked in and wow, lots to read on the menu! Which can be good and bad depending on how much time…read moreyou want to spend reading menus. I chose a egg and cheese on a croissant bun and a caramel turtle latte. I came here because it had been highly recommended, but I have to say, I expected more, but depends on what you like, right?? Plenty of seating, centrally located in the city, easy parking, and plenty of coffee concoctions to try out. My coffee was missing the whipped cream, but oh well. The froth for the latte was odd, it deflated super quickly, not sure what happened there. And the sweetness was sweet, but it was missing that caramel turtle flavor I thought I was going to get. For me, this was meh. I expected something more decadent. My egg sandwich was good. Basic. Not a real croissant either. It was a croissant bun of some sort. It seemed, well, basic, or economical. But it was filling and the egg was good. I also have to say that when I departed, I smelled like a convenience store that sells those hotdogs on rollers... I smelled all day, I had to wash my hair to get the smell out. I also have to mention the heavy music that was playing. It was obscene and it was loud. So loud it made it challenging to order and I did eat my meal quickly and leave. It was a Tuesday morning around 9 am. But hey I am getting older so this may not have been a good choice for me.

Overall we were satisfied with our visit…read more To begin with, despite it also being a busy gas station and convenience store, with m wife's mobility issues we didn't have to park far away or have me drop her off. The server was friendly and attentive, so though she forgot to bring a couple of small items we requested, it was easily fixed. This seems to be one of those basic American style restaurants: not with a broad or imaginative selection, nor one that I'll knock your socks off, but rather with basic food offerings of middling quality. For example, my cheeseburger and onion ring were fine, but not such that I would bring them up later when talking to a friend about restaurants in general. My wife ordered the chef salad, and it was generous, but it took up so much room on the oval plate that she risked pushing items onto the table with every bite. Bringing a second plate from the start would have been a good idea, but she fixed it by asking early for a box to bring some home, as she knew she wouldn't be able to finish it anyway. She was pleased that there was no extra charge for the packet of guacamole she requested. Sometimes it seems places up charge for every little thing. Speaking of prices, they seem elevated for what they offer, but when I thought about it, it felt high compared to what we were paying pre-inflation a year or two ago, not compared to other restaurants. So it is dependable enough so I would be willing to go back (if they are like smaller Dysarts branches they must have good pizza) but it will not be a destination restaurant for us.

I had the Black Bear Omelet - 3 eggs! Shaved steak, peppers, onions and provolone. Enough to take some home. She had the Traditional McRuth - home made bread, egg, sausage patty. Loved that we had the choice of home fries, tater tots OR beans for our side. Grabbing a few things from the bakery (fresh blueberry muffins and pie) before we hit the road.

The male server we had was very pleasant and on top of everything. Overall, the food was fabulous. Everything we had was vegan. To start we had the polenta fries which were good but needed salt and there was no salt at the table so that was a minus. I had the gnocchi with tofu, it was a generous portion with a nice presentation and the flavor came out beautifully once I got some salt on it. I really savored every bite of this meal. The side piece of bread was not served with any olive oil or vegan butter so that was a little disappointing. My partner had the vegan bean burger and he liked the flavor but it was very messy for him and he had a bit of trouble eating it neatly which made him not love his as much as I loved my plate. The fresh cut fries on the side of his plate were nice. To drink we both had a couple of utopia daiquiris, they were delicious and strong. Top notch. I took home the baklava (made with agave, not honey) and honestly it was the best I've ever had. It had a very nice salted caramel profile to it so I thoroughly enjoyed it.
