We stop here often when returning home from Ellsworth. There are loads of flavors and every single one I have tried is excellent. As a bonus, the place is super cute and charming.

Especially the Gelato. And the ice cream pipe

Ridiculous. How many people knew we were heading to Maine and told us Oh! Go to such and such forest ... oh! You've got to see this one pond: It's The Best! Thanks for nothin, people. From now and forever I will tell anyone and everyone- PugNuts. Maine = PugNuts

If you're looking for ice cream in Surry, go to Pugnuts. If you're looking for ice cream in Ellsworth, go to Pugnuts. If you're looking for ice cream anywhere in Downeast Maine, go to Pugnuts. Seriously, their ice cream is amazing--creamy, rich, and smooth, with a great selection of flavors, friendly service, and reasonable prices. I always try to stop at least once (or twice, or thrice...) at Pugnuts while I'm in Maine, and after three years of doing so, I can say with absolute certainty that it's some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Period. As far as flavors go, I'd personally recommend either the peanut butter or coffee, but you quite literally cannot go wrong here. I simply can't recommend this place enough. Just go to Pugnuts. You'll be glad you did.

Friendly service, great selection of ice cream and gelato flavors made on premises. Prices were reasonable and the store itself was charming.

Lobster Claw ice cream sticks- I haven't seen these anywhere else

Very good homemade gelato, great customer service, and excellent Pug decor :-) We go to Maine every year for our family vacation and ever since Pugnuts opened it has become our go-to post hike spot for a summer treat! The gelato is very smooth and rich. For an added price you can get your gelato scooped in a fish cone- very cute but, personally, not worth the extra fee. The lobster claw shaped ice cream cones/sticks are a very unique item- I haven't come across them elsewhere in Maine. My partner always gets mint chocolate chip with rainbow sprinkles. I tried several fruit flavors before settling on c Restaurant is very clean and the customer service is great. They are willing to let you try as many flavors as you want, which is good for the more exotic choices. Our family friend lives in a nearby town and says the Annual Pug Jamboree and Pug Parade is not to miss. She and her Pug dress up in costume and join the other Maine pugs for some fun and games. Update- we have come back here during the COVID-19 pandemic and were very pleased with how PugNuts is implementing safety measures. I felt very safe and the staff was at a safe distance from customers. Glad we can support this local business.

Italian chocolate chip gelato in a waffle bowl (medium)

Great options including gelato and ice cream. Can't go wrong with the Italian chocolate chip gelato in a waffle cone or waffle bowl

Chocolate ice cream and coffee gelato in a dark chocolate waffle cone

Creamiest ice cream I've ever had! I got cheesecake strawberry. It lived up to its name. DELICIOUS! The chocolate was rich too and the gelato was yummy and could pass for ice cream. Waffle cone is dipped in dark chocolate which is a perfectly needed bitterness with the sweet creamy ice cream!

Cute, cute, cute!

They have a tiny patio near the front door where you can grab a blanket if you need and hang out while you eat your ice cream. They have additional high top seating around the front of the building as well. There are an incredible amount of options inside so if you have decision paralysis, get readyyyyyy. The staff was very patient while we thought and thought and thought. After careful deliberation, I ordered the Coffee Heath Bar hard serve in a waffle cone (that they make there!!!) and my wife ordered Nana's Ginger in a cup. Both were amazing! The coffee heath was so well made; creamy and dreamy. The ginger was so light and refreshing! I almost switched but the coffee was too good to give up. If you're in Ellsworth and are craving something sweet, head into Morton's Moo! You will not be disappointed.

Favorite lobster rolls of our trip to Acadia National Park were here at Travelin Lobster! They…read moreserve hot and cold lobster rolls in various sizes (mini for half a lobster, small for full lobster, and large for 1.5 lobsters) - appreciate having those options depending on how hungry you are. We ordered the hot lobster rolls (covered in butter) which were packed with meat and tasted fresh and sweet. The rolls come with a side of chips. We enjoyed the rolls at a shaded table outside, and the food came out quickly. Ended the meal with a chocolate whoopie pie that was packed with icing - the cake part was delicious, but a little bit too much icing for my preference.

Plenty of staff working hard and food came out quickly. Food: - Best: lobster Mac and cheese and lobster dinner. IT COMES WITH MUSSELS. The lobster was delicious and the mussels were some of the freshest we had. Absolute 10/10 of a meal. Quality and price can't be beat - good: lobster roll. It's good. But not as good as dishes above. The bread for the hot roll doesn't add to the lobster which is by far the star of the show. It's delicious and fresh and you're better off eating it by itself (or covered in Mac and cheese but I digress) Oysters - ehhh: lobster bisque Didn't get the pie... guess I have to go back FYI: check hours before you go. It closes early!

I couldn't find the menu of flavors/items online nor on any social media so I called the store to ask if they had any vegan flavors. The worker was very nice and told me they had 4 flavors! I do wish they listed flavors online though! We went about an hour before close and luckily got there before a bunch of other people did. My boyfriend is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and while the employee was very helpful with identifying which ice creams had nuts in them (they had a poster on the wall as well as a sheet) we noticed almost every flavor that didn't contain nuts was right next to a nut-containing flavor, which could increase the risk of cross contamination. The employee did wash his hands and the scooper but I wish this spot just separated the nut-containing and nut-free flavors! Very easy switch. I got the vegan blueberry crumble which was super yum, and my boyfriend got the S'mores which he also enjoyed! I did like that there were some sodas/snacks on the shelves and souvenirs too. Overall a good shop but I think it has space to improve! :)

This wasn't only an ice cream store, but they also sold some desserts, snacks, and lots of mugs, etc. I really wanted blueberry ice cream but they didn't have any so I settled on a soft serve swirl. I wanted sugar cone but they said they couldn't do it in a sugar cone. Oh yes you can! You just need to make the swirls more compact so it doesn't get too high. Disappointed they wouldn't do it. The soft serve was decent and the small size was plenty big. Seems like everywhere we have gone in Maine we spend $18 on 2 items.

I saw this place when we first got to Maine and never forgot about it because I am a giant soft serve fan and they boast 24 different flavors of soft serve!!!! This was our 4th and last stop on our Maine Ice Cream Trek and it did not disappoint. After very long and drawn out deliberation, I decided to try the English Toffee flavor and my wife got the Dragon's Blood soft serve flavor. Both were so good but that Dragon's Blood was out of this world!! I had never had the flavor before and it blew my mind. We also got fries to make sure we made it home to eat and they were the best fries we had in Maine for our entire trip and my wife LOVES fries so that's a very nice compliment. We almost ordered a second serving. There is plenty of covered seating outside but no inside seating so it gave a well catered picnic vibe. I will say it was hard for us to find because the map didn't realize where it was. We had to drive around a bit to find it but it's next to the gas station/convenience store that Maps takes you to. I would absolutely go out of my way to go to Seaside Dairy Bar the next time we're in Maine. It's well worth it!
