A friend recommended this small Filipino bakery to me. Seems like its a commercial bakery, but open to the public if you place order ahead of time for pickup on a specified date. I haven't seen this brand sold in supermarkets that I frequent, so we placed an order for a few items. We ordered pandesal, ube ensaymada, hopia ube, pandecoco, and money bread. Note, i have not tried Filipino bread before so i'm not sure how it compares to others. But review is based on just whether i liked the taste/texture.
Pandesal - kinda like a less eggy brioche, nice snacking bread
Ube ensaymada - description said it's bread covered with butter and sugar, stuffed with ube and topped with cheese. The bread was baked in a round cake pan with ube inside and topped with margarine (as indicated on the ingredients, no butter), and sugar. No cheese either. So description on website was misleading
Hopia ube - on website, said thin flakey crust with ube inside. the crust was NOT flakey at all, it was just a regular bread layer that was very thin. Quite disappointing
Pandecoco - a sweet bun with A LOT of coconut filling. less sweet compared to chinese coconut cocktail buns, surprisingly
Monay bread - hubby bought this thinking he could use it as sandwich bread with deli meat. do not make this mistake, the bread is super sweet! texture is really nice and soft. Good for PB&J sandwiches.
Feel like the items i bought were just ok.....nothing amazing. But now i'm tempted to look up other Filipino bakeries to try. read more
