The absolute best place to get pandesal in Scarborough, if not all of Toronto. If you've never had fresh, hot pandesal that has just come out of the oven, you are truly missing out. It may appear to be "just bread" to some but you need need need to try the fresh pandesal from this bakery! I love how lowkey it is, and the ladies that run it are so sweet and happy. The prices are also amazingly cheap. They have other Filipino favourites as well such as chocolate crinkles and puto. 11/10 would recommend!

I was craving for some fresh baked pandesal so I tagged along with some friends to this Filipino bakery. Boy am I glad I went! As soon as you walk in you're greeting with the tantalizing aroma of fresh baked bread, I was in heaven. The store is small and cramped. The aisles are just wide enough for two lines of people to squeeze past each other (one coming and one going). There's a large variety of baked goods to choose from. There are cooling racks behind the display case with all the fresh out of the oven baked goods. There are also 2 large shelves with Filipino grocery items (they carry my favorite noodles - Lucky Me Chilimansi flavor) and a refrigerated section which has my favorite green tea (C2 which is sweetened with cane sugar). The line was long but it moved quickly. We ordered 2 dozen regular pandesal and 1 dozen wheat pandesal which came out to be a little under $10. I love that everything was labeled with the name of the item and the price. The store is efficient and well organized. These rolls are not the typical ones you find in the Philippines which are small and hard. These are similar to the ones you find in Southern California - large and soft with a touch of sweetness. There are a number of ways to enjoy it - dunk it in coffee or hot chocolate, toast it with some butter, use any kind of spread you have (nutella is always good), make sliders out of it, or use it to make an ice cream sandwich. The best way to see if it is really good though is to eat it hot, right out of the oven. Definitely coming back to try their other offerings.

    Halo Halo w/o ice cream

Came here primarily for the Halo Halo as I never tried it before. The halo halo ($7.50) was very filling it has shaved ice in top, coconut jelly, red bean, and other stuff I don't know. it got sweeter as I got to the bottom (too sweet for me). I was told by my friend I was supposed to mix it but the shaved ice was in big chucks and was very hard to mix I've also ordered the chicken and pork buns (~$5.25 for 3 buns). It was very similar to chinese steam buns, but the meat was flavourful. The ube bread ($3.25$) was very good, it was sweet but not overly sweet. I expected the whole mid section to have ube, but ube was not continuous, it breaks into section so expect plain bread depending on where you cut.

Every filipino knows about pandesal. And this place makes the best pandesal in Toronto. Their pandesals are so soft and lasts longer than the competition. All breads and pastries are made in house. Their pan de coco (coconut filled bun) is also really good. Airy, stuffed with sweetened coconut. They also make coconut pies, Spanish breads, and the summer faves of halo Halo and sago't gulaman. I mean it's sooo good that this is the only bread we send to our family in the US.

So glad I came across this bakery! This bakery has good hours, and before closing time, they still had many bakery items to choose from. I just had to try one of their specialties. I bought macarons for $2.50 (comes with 8 pieces). Tasted really good, perfectly sweetened! I'll make sure to drop by again to try more of their goods. They had many mamon's still available when I went (ube, mocha, and vanilla assortments), and would definitely try that next time. Review 82 of 100

I've had bulakenyos before I even knew who they were at least 10 times and let me tell you, their lumpia is probably the best I've EVER HAD (2nd to my dad's cooking of course). The meat filling they use is highly addictive, it has the perfect crunch, and it comes in the perfect size. I always end up eating a good 15-20 pcs per round but even then I keep coming back with future meals. My friends even buy in large portions and freeze to make sure they've got steady stock on hand. Something to know about this place is that they mostly do party trays. They do have a small counter selection of takeout food, but their main focus and menu is the trays. I also had a chance to try their sago't gulaman which is a traditional Filipino drink perfect for hot summery days made with brown sugar, vanilla extract, water, tapioca and gelatin (I always assume it's grass jelly). I thought it was a bit too sweet but the portion was great, so I can't complain much. During my first visit to their shop, we ordered ~5 different medium party trays to be ready for the next early afternoon. The portion they served us was huge and we ended up with a lot of leftovers (which means more for me!). Highly recommend others check this place out! I would say it's a sort of hidden gem.

It is better this way so that each individual ingredient can be shown clearly. The Halo Halo was good, but I thought it had too much ice. There is a stage right in front of the food stall. When we were they, there was a children's magic show. There is indoor seating, but it is hard to find a table on the weekends since people linger around longer, especially if they are watching a show. There is free WiFi from the mall. The current owner Ariel took over the restaurant from his uncle just before the pandemic. It's already a good sign to know a restaurant survived that -- it must have its unique advantages. My first impression of this restaurant was that it made me feel very relaxed, as if I was truly in the Philippines, or on a tropical small island. Its decoration and the way it displays the food are casual and even a bit shabby, but still make me feel very comfortable, just like being at home. The restaurant plays 80's, 90's music. I heard it has karaoke from time to time, I do want to participate in that ! It has all kinds of authentic Filipino food, but our goal is only the Kamayan - Boodle Fight. I looked it up with AI, Kamayan means "use hands to eat", Boodle is just a lot of food, Fight is because you need to fight for your food. This feast is very appealing. All the ingredients will be spread on the table which is covered by banana leaves. The ingredients are colorful, the main proteins are seafood, like squids and fish . With a lot of boiled vegetables on the side. The rice is garlic rice and full of flavor. The restaurant will provide you with gloves to let you eat them with your hands. You can eat them directly or with their special sauce. The food is delicious, but what really stands out is the memorable combination of visuals and flavors. If you've never tried a boodle fight before, I highly recommend giving it a try .

I have passed by Edge BBQ & Grill at least once every week. It's on my way home. You know what's crazy? This store has changed names and hands over the years. It has always been a Filipino eatery. Lyle Foods. Honey's Kusina. LJ Kusina Express. And now, Edge. I was out and about on Tuesday. I wanted to fetch lunch from this eatery. I looked at my food apps. Edge was on both DoorDash and Uber Eats. I went with DoorDash, as I hadn't ordered from this app for months. I got these items: - Sago gulaman - Pancit mix (bihon and canton) I forgot that I had credits on DoorDash, which paid for my entire order. Nice! I got an estimated time of fifteen minutes for my order to be ready. It was enough time for me to drive over here from running errands. This eatery is in a plaza with a gas station and a bunch of eateries. I'm often here for bbq Chicken. I found a parking spot fairly close to the eatery. I backed into it and walked into the eatery. There are places to sit down and eat. It felt cozy. I got to take a few photos. Staffers were in the kitchen. I said hi to a woman coming out of it to help me. I let her know that I had a DoorDash order under my name. She seemed to not freely communicate in English. However, my showing her my order on the app helped her fetch the bag behind her. She was so careful with the sago gulaman, which was my drink. I let her know that I'd be careful. I thanked her and carefully left the place with my lunch. She was nice and said goodbye. I put everything safely in my car. I then drove home to eat. I took a sip of my sago gulaman. It was super sweet thanks to the brown sugar. I diluted it with cold water, which helped a ton. It had shaved ice, which kept the sago balls and grass jelly cold. The straw wasn't large enough in diameter get the sago balls through it. It's probably why I got a spoon. It was enjoyable. I may need to ask if I can get the brown sugar toned down next time. The pancit mix was excellent. It had thick (canton) and thin (bihon) noodles, with pork belly, cabbage, carrots, onions, and celery. The noodles were perfect. I loved the pork belly with crunchy skin and tender pork belly. The veggies provided a nice contrast with the noodles. I even found a snow pea or two. The portion was massive. I had half of it on Tuesday. I had the rest of it for lunch yesterday. It was yummy a day later. Thanks, garlic cloves! I'd like to give one of the all-day breakfasts (silogs) a try. I also want to try the halo halo. It's a great place for authentic Filipino food. I'll be back for more. (83)
