Chicken avocado wrap (w. spring mix)
    Matthew H.

Fresh, quick, healthy! Came by for lunch takeout as I was lucky to have a day off - they are only open weekday lunches. Seems like a popular spot for nearby staff on their breaks grabbing takeout. Plenty of seating inside and noticed it was clean and bright. Super friendly as well! I guess they noticed it was my first time there and asked if I needed any help with the menu. Plenty of options for both the main sandwich and salad selections. Got the chicken avocado wrap with the spring mix. For 11.75, I was happy with what I got. The wrap was tightly packed and held well throughout. Chicken was not dry, and went well with the avocado, peppers and tomato among other toppings. Salad greens were fresh and was a generous portion. Parking might be harder to find during peak hours but otherwise its pretty easy to find just off Woodbine & 7. Will be back!

FOOD: Great place for getting something healthy and fresh! They make their own sauces and they have many from which you can choose! They offer a wide range of meat, vegetarian, and vegan options! They have many toppings and salad options. You can get a sandwich, soup, salad, or salad and grain bowl. Everything is made from scratch with nothing added which I love! It tasted really healthy and loved it! I got the salad and grain bowl which came out to $11.30. I got to pick a grain and salad base of my choice. It also came with 5 Veggie toppings that I got to pick and protein is extra. STAFF: Super helpful and friendly! Explained the menu and was patient! Great service!! SPACE: Medium sized store with limited spots to sit and eat. Modern looking store but parking is difficult during peak hours as it's limited. I wish they were open for more hours especially dinner time as well!

This is the newest location of Porta Via. I am happy that they opens up in Markham, as now I have another options if I want to have a healthy lunch option. Soup and Sandwich at $8.75 and with an extra soup $10.75. There are usually 2 soups to choose from one Vegan and the other is usually vegetarian.. great if you has special dietary requirement. There are quite a good selections of panini and you can get the kind of bread you would like... Salad/Beet Soup/Beef with Brie on Francese Bread - Salad is smallish... the vinaigrette dressing is quite nice and tangy - Soup is beet puree seasoned with a hint of black pepper, really simple - I love my Francese Bread, so crusty... the in house roasted beef is quite moist and lean... - It will be more perfect if the sandwich has left in the grill a little longer The deco is clean and simple. The disposable metal look alike plastic utensils would be nice if they are real utensils for eat in patrons. A little pricey than my usual lunch but I guess that's the price one pay for good and healthy ingredients! Luckily they accepts all credit cards.. at least I still can pay for my lunch!

I was introduced to Porta via by a coworker who said that there were lots of healthy fresh food options close to work. Bonus to even have vegan options!!! Everything is so so so fresh and the portions here are amazing! I never go back to work feeling hungry or grossed out or greasy after having a meal here. I love their tofu wrap - it is a bit spicy but you can always ask for a different spread/sauce. They even have complimentary coffee. The staff here are also incredibly friendly. A must visit!!

Looking for something lighter nap stumbled into this little gem on woodbine. Atmosphere is nothing to rave about but for the size of the establishment t there is a good amount of seating if you want to dine in. For take out, they are very efficient in getting you sorted about. Start to finish I was in and out in under 10 min. Ordered a the quinoa/kale/rice base with feta, cucumber, tomato, olives and pumpkin seeds. Added spicy chicken as my meat option on top and topped with balsamic as the dressing. You can opt in for a soup in your combo that saves you a dollar vs buying it separate. I went for the tomato soup and it was a nice creamy soup with a touch of spice in it. All in, wasn't the cheapest salad out there at $17 but it was delicious.

New gem!! Super fresh and delicious!! Price is great with a soup and sandwich only $13. Definitely a healthier choice around here.

    All freshly made!

In a nut shell...you feel good about yourself when you leave this place. Everything is fresh and the service is outstanding. All the spreads are home made! Try the striploin and mozzarella! It's like biting into a cloud...

I can see why they have been in business this long. I ordered a regular size veal sandwich and added mozzarella cheese. Total bill came out to $10-$11 or something. A little pricey but "OMG" was this sandwich special. The employee (I gather who was also the owner) gave me suggestions and upon choosing the veal, I saw him bread it and cook it upon ordering. That's beyond fresh!!! The bun it came on had a hard crust and soft in the middle. The cheese melted upon opening the sandwich....Mmmm.... Cheese melt!! They well deserve this 5 stars And I will be back for more. I definitely recommend this place for your Italian sandwiches!!

A couple of Saturdays ago, I had the weirdest veal cutlet sandwich that I have ever consumed. This experience made me crave real veal in a yummy sandwich with marinara sauce. My usual go-to veal sandwich place is California Sandwiches. I have the option of hitting Ajax, Vaughan, or Toronto to get my fix. I need at least half an hour to get to any of these locations. I found East Street Sandwiches on Ritual. My eyes zoned into the veal sandwich immediately. I added mushrooms to it, which is my usual way that I like it. I saw arancini on the menu. The last time I had some was last year and it was horrible. The rice was so hard that I peeled it off as if it were the shell of a hard-boiled egg. The filling wasn't anything to write home about. I ordered the meat and peas arancino here, hoping that it wouldn't suck. I had plans to hit Richmond Hill last Wednesday anyway. It was perfect to grab some takeout for dinner before heading home. The eatery is tucked away in a small plaza with Fat Bastard and a few other places. There were guys cleaning the parking lot, so half the spaces were taken. I waited for two cars to leave this parking lot so I could park. One got out quickly. The person in other one looked so confused and was so inexperienced as a driver that I had to wait until this person got her act together. I then backed into a spot and headed inside. The most comforting detail that I saw on the window was that this place has been kicking around since 1978. If a place has been in business for that long, the food must be great. I headed inside. I was greeted by Bruce Springsteen on the wall. It was cool. An older gentleman was behind the counter. He was so nice. I indicated that I had a Ritual order. He handed me a paper bag with my items with both hands. I thanked him. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was pleased to see a human being. I looked so forward to eating my food, wished him a great evening, and headed back to my car. I had one other errand to run. After I was done, I headed home to chow down. I had my veal sandwich first. Delicious! The veal as lightly breaded and had marinara sauce. I tend to like lots of sauce. This place doesn't smother the veal with tons of it. At first, I was concerned. However, the marinara sauce was so bright and flavourful that having less of it actually works perfectly. It was the first time eating a veal sandwich neatly. The bun was perfect. I normally look like a kid eating it without a bib. Not here. Yum! The meat and peas arancino was fantastic. The rice was lightly sticky and so good. I normally don't go crazy over rice, but I loved it so much. It's a decent size. The filling was yummy. The only negative that I can think of was that I did not see any peas. Maybe they were pureed? I couldn't tell. It wasn't horrible, as the flavourful meat filling made up for not seeing any peas. I am no longer afraid to get bad arancini now that I have found this place. Such a gem in Richmond Hill! It's much closer to get my veal sandwich fix here. Huge fan! I'll be back for more sandwiches and arancini. (353)

It is a small cafe that serves coffee, snacks, and quick bites. The father-daughter duo who runs the store were always welcoming, friendly and personable. They also seem to know regular customers' orders by heart ;) I usually order a medium coffee which is $1.50 tax included. You can choose the regular coffee blend or roasted hazelnut blend. The hazelnut one is my favourite, and it smells so heavenly ^^ For lunch, I usually get a freshly made sandwich for $4 tax included. The portion is huge (for me!), you can add sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and other toppings at no additional cost. My coworker and I usually enjoy the egg salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, and chicken salad sandwich :) Secret menu item (well, not so secret anymore!) Beef patty ($1.50 tax in.) is not on the menu but you can certainly order it. I always have random beef patty craving moments lol. You can also have it stuffed apparently! My coworker was telling me how delicious a stuffed beef patty was lol. You can stuff it with the usual - sliced tomatoes, cucumber, plus other favourite toppings. I shall order that another time ^^ Not sure how much it cost but I'm sure it can't be too far off. This cafe also serves a specialty Indian hot dish everyday. I often hear them offer butter chicken served with rice for lunch (I think around $6 or $6.50... can't rmb exactly). Huge portions with great affordable prices. I'm definitely a happy returning customer :) P.S. Hours of operation - Monday to Friday from 8am to 3:30pm - mainly during office hours.

It looked nothing like the cheeseburger from Burger Factory that's posted online. The patty was not even thick at all! I received a thin patty which contained cheese but I had to get to the center of the burger to get a bit of cheese oozing out. The rest of the patty was essentially a Mc D caliber patty. If you look at the pic I posted, the meat to bun ratio was also totally off. The bun was bigger than the meat so I had bites where I was literally just eating thick bread and veggies. The cheeseburger photos show big chunky meat patties so I'm wondering if I got an employee who didn't really know what he was doing? I opted for a combo and got mac n' cheese bites as my side. These were exceptionally disappointing. I'm no mac expert but I'd be willing to bet a dollar that they use Kraft dinner in these mac n' cheese bites. Overly salty, overly processed. No dipping sauce, just came with two ketchup packets on the side. For a meal that hit me for over $20 I truly felt ripped off. This combo was NOT worth $20+. I had a double Shack burger from Shake Shack literally a week prior to eating here and that burger was MILES better and way more "gourmet" tasting than this one.

Very nicely cooked, they use a really good quality sesame bun which I think makes a big difference when you bite into the burger. Good toppings and the fries were nice and lite. Not too oily and salty as other places are. A great deal that is probably not around anymore haha. Shoutout to Matthew there for hooking us up with some free ice cream too as they were just about to close.
