No CAESAR dressing in my Chicken CAESAR pita.
    Krista L.

I've wanted to try out Pita Pit for a long period of time and chose today to be the lucky day. I've got to say, I'm quite surprised...at the lack of common sense the Kennedy & Progress in Toronto location lacks... majorly. I decided to try a classic; Chicken CAESAR pita. Once I was asked what toppings I would prefer, I asked "What does a Chicken CAESAR usually come with?". "Oh you know, lettuce, bacon, chicken, parmesan cheese, and caesar dressing." After much deliberation, the choice was made and I opted for what it usually included. Or so I thought. When I walked back to the office anticipating my Chicken CAESAR pita, I noticed within the first two bites that CAESAR dressing was nowhere to be tasted... After finishing half of the pita, still no sign of CAESAR dressing in my Chicken CAESAR pita. Unsatisfied, I threw out what was left. I sit here in regret, with my tummy still rumbling and $9 poorer.

It was prepared with just enough mustard (you can ask for extra if you want) and stacked high on rye bread. The sandwich exceeded my expectations. When ordering, the staff were very helpful and happily explained the sandwich options and combos. They suggested choosing medium fat for their Montreal smoked meat for first-timers (which I was), so that's what I ordered. Ordering was fast and efficient, though the restaurant is small, with only two sets of tables and counter seating around the perimeter. When we arrived around 1:20 PM on a Sunday, all table seating was occupied, with only a few stools available at one of the counters. After we took our seats, our order was ready within a few minutes. We ordered three Smoked Meat Combos, which included the Montreal smoked meat sandwich, fries (very good--crispy, hot, and fresh), a small container of coleslaw, and a pickle. Would I return? Yes, if I were in the area again. I'm from Mississauga, so it's a bit of a trek. If SumiLicious opened another location in Mississauga, I'd be a regular customer.

But this place has perfected it! Who knew perfectly cooked smoked meat in between slices of untoasted rye bread and a small amount of mustard would be such a dreamy combination. Montreal smoked sandwiches can be found in our very own backyard here at Sumilicious. The poutine is everything you want it to be! Was so impressed with the place, we decided to order a whole turkey for thanksgiving..it was alright, don't think we will be doing that again though. You pay by the pound after the meat has been cooked so it shrinks in size but still ends up being quite expensive. But I will stay the staff care so much about their products. They take great pride in what they make from the smoked meat to the turkey. Upon picking up the turkey, took the time to give me specific care instructions on how to store and reheat the bird. Come check out Sumilicious.

I had flagged this eatery for a while. It was nice to drop by at long last and do a return visit, too. Mamajoun is roughly one block west of Warden Avenue, on the south side of Ellesmere Road. I had no problem finding a parking spot in the plaza. I backed into a spot practically in front of the main entrance and walked in. I was warmly greeted by Mihran, who owns the eatery with his wife. He was so welcoming and took the time to chat with me. I have had a papajoun wrap in the past, which is a flatbread with ground beef, onions, garlic, and red pepper paste. He let me know that his dough recipe came from his grandfather, which makes the dough so light and malleable. I had traditional Armenian toppings in my wrap, such as tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and pickled turnips. If you are getting your wraps to go, he carefully packages them such that they still remain hot and toasty for thirty minutes. I ended up driving back to Markham and enjoying my wrap in downtown Markham. It was warm and yummy. When I first walked into the eatery, I was looking at bags of mante. I smelled the bag and it automatically made me hungry. He enjoys serving several beef mante in chicken broth, with tomato sauce and yogurt. He let me know that the chicken stock in bottles at the nearby Costco was what he used and they were of high quality. Good to know! I ended up getting some tomato dill soup from Farm Boy and put my mante in them. It was amazing! His instructions to bake them in the oven at 400°F for five to eight minutes and place them in soup is amazing. I asked if folks simply popped mante in their mouths like popcorn. He said that it was a perfectly acceptable way to enjoy them. The pack of zaatar that I picked up was excellent. Mihran said that I could freeze them. When I wanted one, just take one out of the freezer and let it thaw for fifteen minutes. Each zaatar tastes so fresh and yummy. I paid for my items both times with a credit card. This place does not accept American Express. I feel that most businesses don't these days. I thanked him for all his help and taking the time to speak with me. He said that the feeling was mutual, which was nice. Everything that I have eaten at this place has been flavourful and delicious. I'm a fan. Great food. Great owner. No complaints. (201)

They assisted in getting a high chair for my baby and helping me find seating while pushing a stroller which helped greatly. The presentation of food was also amazing. I just found both my hot drink and food I ordered lacking in flavor and just average. I ordered the hojicha latte and the Wanoka omurice. Both I could barely taste anything and I know hojicha should be a rich, earthy/toasty/nutty green tea flavor but I couldn't taste any of it, just mostly steamed milk. However my friend really enjoyed her matcha latte so maybe some drinks are better than others or dependent on who makes it. The omurice also was average, the texture/consistency was great but just lacking in flavor. I also ordered a tuna onigiri that also was lacking in flavor and nothing special. However, I did find their desserts to be really great. Found their tofu cream cheese cake and green tea chiffon cake really delicious. Their prices also were a bit overpriced. Perhaps it's best to go to this place for drinks and dessert and skip out on their food.
