Pastrami sandwich was good, but expensive and the structure of the sandwich fell apart so quick it became difficult to eat. I think my rating would be way higher if more effort was put into the construction of the sandwich to complement the pastrami... Like the bread and toppings just didn't do anything to help the meat (which was delicious on its own). I do like that you can choose the kind of mustard you want as well as the cut of pastrami (lean, fatty, both, etc.) For a simple and quick pastrami sandwich, it does the job but I don't think it's worth the Michelin recommendation... It was prepared with just enough mustard (you can ask for extra if you want) and stacked high on rye bread. The sandwich exceeded my expectations. When ordering, the staff were very helpful and happily explained the sandwich options and combos. They suggested choosing medium fat for their Montreal smoked meat for first-timers (which I was), so that's what I ordered. Ordering was fast and efficient, though the restaurant is small, with only two sets of tables and counter seating around the perimeter. When we arrived around 1:20 PM on a Sunday, all table seating was occupied, with only a few stools available at one of the counters. After we took our seats, our order was ready within a few minutes. We ordered three Smoked Meat Combos, which included the Montreal smoked meat sandwich, fries (very good--crispy, hot, and fresh), a small container of coleslaw, and a pickle. Would I return? If you're very hungry and can eat a lot, Small Plate of Smoked Meat (~$26) is perfect too, which includes enough smoked meat, slices of bread, and mustard packets for 1.5 sandwiches. This was at the thick of the COVID pandemic though; tables were closed so I had to enjoy it in the car, and i recall it was a filling gravy drenched smasher delight requiring a fully empty stomach. Guess nothing says Montreal like smoked meat and poutine eh. The couple other visits since yes the tables were finally open but now the walls are covered with the aftermath of their Michelin Guide recognition. Sit down finally (if there is even a table open amongst the busyness) and helped myself to their smoked meat sandwich. This was the best smoked meat sandwich I've ever had, and its not even close. The medium fatty smoked meat was the perfect blend of fatty and lean, seasoned to perfection, and along with the classic mustard and bread culminated into a perfect sandwich. The poutine seemed a bit small and lacking in fries. Most likely they are doing sizeflation and having the container being smaller. The fries had a good amount of gravy and cheese curds.
