I was walking on the upper Coxwell ave area, hungry. Then I was attracted by the cool storefront and peeked inside for the menu - Poutine, massive line-ups of sandwiches from chicken, cold cuts, vegetarian and AAA Flank steak? And local beer? My instinct told me they would offer something unique! I wanted to try both poutine and sandwich, but each portion is generous and also a bit pricey side. So, my choice: AAA Flank Steak sandwich, and I was very happy! They asked how well I want the meat to be done. Medium rare. Perfectly done. Portobello, Arugula, Chimichurri, Garlic Aioli. Generous amount of meat, perfect balance with Arugula and seasonings. Loved this. Although I could not try their collection of local beers - as I was on duty - I felt their commitment to the local community - gave me a nice impression. Will come back - want to try poutine, but there are many sandwiches that I want to try. This place makes me so indecisive! read more

Heard great reviews of this place so had to give it a try. The cashier was so friendly and there was a regular customer who told us that anything and everything is amazing. We got the AAA flank steak, classic fried chicken, and classic poutine. My favourite was the fried chicken which was crispy and juicy and the honey gave it a sweet touch. My friend's favourite was the steak sandwich because of the char flavour. The standout was definitely the poutine - the gravy was so flavourful! There are a few 4 person tables, a 2 person bar table against the window, and a small outdoor area as well. read more

A friend took me here. I ordered cubano. Toasty crispy bread. Yummy pork filling. The chopped pickled on it brighten up the flavor (perfect pairing). Tried the beef steak as well (which is the reason why my friend took me here). It was good, but I think chimichuri (in general) doesnt sit well with my taste bud. Fast service. Simple but delish sandwich. The bread is not heavy. Glad to have a chance to try it! read more

Stopped here because of the reviews, and was pleased with the food. We got poutin, tater totes, and a buffalo chicken sandwich. The sandwich wasn't overwhelming spicy and was pretty good. The tater totes were so delicious with all the flavors. For the poutin, I don't feel quite qualified to rate as this was our first time trying and we aren't from Canada. The service was fairly quick and there's seating in the place as well. read more

This is my local sandwich shop, first time i came here the staff were so friendly and attentive I thought I was at an expensive restaurant, I was caught off guard in a good way. My favorite items: Steak sandwich, its overloaded with juicy pink center thick steak slices with perfect sauce and bread ratio. Cubano if u want crispy no mess compact sandwich, lastly I get the kale salad. If its get too bright outside the place is cozy and dark. read more

Tucked into a small neighborhood street, this burger/Sammie shop boasted such good reviews I had to try it! We were visiting from out of town and wanted some local cuisine. We stayed at a hostel down the street. The parking was so easy as it was right in front of the business. After 6pm on a weekday it's free so it was really easy to navigate. Our server was great and was so friendly. They had a busy day and ran out of poutine, but she was kind enough to ask the cook if he could make a last batch with whatever they had left. We had 2 Sammie's/burgers, poutine and tots. All heavenly. If I lived in the neighborhood I'd definitely come back. read more

Haven't visited for a few years but was close by so popped in for a Classic Chicken Sandwich Wasn't quite as tasty as I remember and was definitely much smaller, looks as if they're pounding out a thigh instead of the breast and it was a bit overdone; still a pretty good sandwich though which at $14+ it should be Had a Sleemans last time but they have their own lager now - good idea read more

Many great sandwich options as well as sides and salads. Tried the Korean chicken sandwich and the danforth fries. Very big, flavourful, sandwich and was very fresh and delicious. Service was pretty quick. Will be returning to try more of the options! Good amount of seating inside as well as outside. It was quiet and clean inside. read more

What a hidden gem along Coxwell. They have a wide selection on their menu, and I went with the classic buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. It did take a bit to get our food, around a 20-ish minute wait, but we were fine with that, and the server was very apologetic. It was a good portion given the price, and I can taste the quality ingredients in the sandwich. It was definitely messy to eat, but that's what ya get with coleslaw in it. I also love the chipotle honey in it. Overall, good food and good quality. I will be back to try out all of the other sandwiches. read more

A bit pricey but good portion size and good quality. The chicken sandwich had a generous amount of meat (versus bulking up with the breading) and a nice tangy sauce. I would have wanted a less chewy bread and more veggies, but I'm knitpicking. The shrimp roll was pretty good - lots of plump shrimp, albeit would have wanted a bit more kick. The buttery bread though was amazing - really soft and tasty. Overall, a satisfying experience. read more

After our favourite Cuban sandwich restaurant, closed last year, I missed having a good Cubano. If anyone ever saw the movie Chef, with Jon Favreau, they might recall this famous restaurant in Miami, The Versailles. This was the place, in the movie, where Chef Carl Casper, finds his passion, in these sandos. We had actually gone to this very resto in Miami, years ago, where I also discovered this wonderful Cuban street food. So what has this got to do with this place - EVERYTHING! We have tasted many restaurants version of the Cuban in the GTA and to be fair, not one of them, so far, has come close the the Versailles in Miami, until Knuckle Sandwich. Ya, ya, you might think the ingredients are pretty basic and "plancha" is where the magic happens, but I disagree. The pork shoulder, the ham, the Swiss cheese and sauces and pickle are where this all happens. The "plancha", just seals the deal. It is all about layering flavours to achieve this harmonious balance. THEY NAILED IT! Now onto other goodies. the smash burger was delish and perfect in every respect. the fees were hand cut. I did find them a bit too seasoned for my taste and will know to order them unseasoned next time. The service was terrific too. My only ask, is to please bring back the Po' Boy sando in any format. Peace out - JP read more

I had a BYO bowl that was beyond delicious! I had ordered the vinaigrette on the side and by mistake they added a small amount (aka the perfect amount) to the salad, so they wrote me a note and gave me a free drink on the house for the mistake! My favourite was the shrimp roll and the taters!! The shrimp roll was nice and refreshing with big pieces of juicy shrimp while the taters were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside... tasted amazing with the bacon, chedder and green onions... Quarantine Day 5: Would you ever buy yourself a knuckle sandwich? I did. Two of them actually. Luckily they did not hurt and they were tasty. The flank steak sandwich had really good quality meat in there. Could have definitely held its own on a salad. The buffalo chicken sandwich was a big behemoth. It was a tad bit spicy for certain bites but the pickles and the lettuce helped cool down. The chicken was still crispy after delivery which was awesome. The salads were surprisingly tasty. I think I could have eaten an entree salad of either one. The candied pumpkin seeds were crunchy and added the right amount of sweetness to the salad. The last side that we got was the poutine. Most of the crunch had left the fries by the time it got to us. It was still a solid poutine. The gravy wasn't too salty and there were a lot of cheese curds for every bite. Finally I appreciated that the UberEats order was all packaged up in sustainable containers - either compostable or recyclable. read more

Walked in and looked at the Menu board, had a difficult time deciding. Even though the menu is limited there is a good variety and multiple combinations of items to choose from. The cashier who happened to be the owner, George, was wonderful in explaining the menu items and helping me choose. Hubby and I had the following: Fried Chicken Sandwich - This is a massive sandwich! The chicken hangs over both ends of the bun. Nice and crispy, crunchy batter and the chicken is tender and juicy. You definitely get your money's worth with this one because you won't even need any sides to get full. I cut it in half and ate it for dinner later and the outside was still crunchy. Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich - They cook the roast beef rare then dip it in the au jus which cooks it all the way; it's on the bland side. Next time will ask for the au jus on the side so the bread doesn't get soggy. Should also order a side of one of their aiolis (basil, garlic, chipotle) and or use their Sriracha ketchup. Butternut Squash Soup - owner said it had a Thai twist. Savoury and delicious, you can taste the coconut milk and ginger. Kale side salad - if you like kale (hubby hates it) you will love this salad. The paper thin, crispy prosciutto on top was scrumptious! Fries with Sriracha ketchup - weren't oily but a bit dry, the Sriracha ketchup really helped make it a tasty side. Owner, host, server (same person) and kitchen staff were hospitable, sweet and attentive. Warning: the street in front is a very busy street and the only way to park is diagonally and head in. I would recommend coming with a friend to help you spot cars while you back up, or take the bus. Also according to Evo X there's free 1 hour parking on Lankin M-F 9a-5p if you don't mind the walk. read more

We went there last night because of a craving for a sandwich. The place didn't disappoint us. I had the fried chicken sandwich with spicy buffalo sauce and the g/f had the shrimp po-boy. The chicken was cooked nice and tender. The buffalo sauce gave it the right amount of heat. Not too spicy but not that weak either. The shrimp po-boy was very tasty too. We also ordered the tots and Danforth fries. The tots were crisp yet still soft on the inside. The Danforth fries was a nice mix of flavours added to nicely cooked fries. This is a place I would recommend trying !! read more

This wasn't what I expected as a buttermilk fried chicken Sandwich at this price range. It was just a soggy untasted mess. No crunch, no bite. I'd rather have a kfc sandwich over this. I wouldn't get this again but the other food could be more interesting read more

I was so excited to try this place after reading the glowing reviews, but sadly, I was truly NOT impressed. I find the sandwiches lack in juiciness and flavour.............kind of underwhelming. I ordered the steak sandwich and its supposed to have chimmichurri in it. Couldn't even taste the chimmichuri. Chimmichurri is supposed to be very garlicky, oily, herby, sometimes spicy, a bit sour... I couldn't taste it at all. The sandwich was a bit too dry for me. We ordered the chicken sandwich too. It was very crispy, but I wish the chicken was more seasoned... kinda lacked the salt. This too also kind of lacked juiciness. Maybe more sauce on the buns? Maybe it's because I took the sandwiches home? Ate it 10 mins after receiving it? But its shouldn't be that way. I've had taken home food from places like this before, it really shouldn't be this way. The only saving grace was the french fries. It was good. For an almost $40 meal, it felt kind of sucky eating a subpar meal. It's like I wish I just decided to get something else, I felt kind of sad afterwards. Maybe my experience is just not great! Hopefully others will have a better experience. read more

This place is so low-key and super easy to miss, but when you stumble upon it, it's really magical. I'm sure all the other sandwiches are delicious too, but this review is going to focus on the fried chicken sandwich, which is simply marvelous. Imagine a giant piece of well-breaded chicken, topped uniquely with poblano slaw, chipotle honey, and garlic aioli. Then go and try what the sandwich tastes like compared to what you thought. And let the sandwich exceed your expectations. The whole thing is juicy, flavourful, and very enjoyable to eat. To top it all off, the fries are excellent too, and super well seasoned. They make a great accompaniment to the sandwich. The customer service is awesome also, which really puts this place over-the-top. You need to go. read more

Great spot on Coxwell near O'Connor. Everything is made in house -- sandwiches, salads and some great sides. Lots of good looking local micro-brews on tap. Friendly staff who really know their fare. Pretty casual -- you order from the board, pay, and then take a seat. They bring it out to you when ready. We had the Chicken Sandwich -- so flavourful and topped with a great slaw! Hubby had fries and I had the tater tots as sides (talk about a blast from the past and great!). They make their own ketchup and have a spicy version too which went great with the tater tots. The food was great quality and I totally recommend if you are looking for a more casual lunch. Think I might have to try the Shrimp Po'Boy next time or perhaps the Steak and Cheese Sandwich. :) read more

I would like to update that the business owner reached out to me to apologise for my experience and even offered a free meal or a refund which I didn't expect. Though my experience still stands, I definitely appreciate this gesture. My original review was not to discourage anyone from going to Knuckle Sandwich, I was simply being honest. The level of customer service provided was great and that is the sole reason for the 3 star rating. I will add that my boyfriend seemed to enjoy the food just fine so it easily could have been a one time mishap. The sauce on the sandwich did taste quite good but it was difficult to judge flavors when I began feeling sick. Again thank you to the business owner for reaching out! read more

This is a long overdue review. Delicious food. Unfortunately, they do not appear to have my personal favorite, beef steak poutine, any longer. That was the first time that I had ever had poutine and it made me a poutine fan. Of course, every subsequent poutine experience elsewhere was judged against this first one here, and many came up short. So it's sad that it's off their menu. read more

We were craving fried chicken and i had heard good things about this place, so we ordered from here via Skip The Dishes, and i have to say my partner and i were really impressed with the food, we ordered a really delicious Fried buttermilk chicken sandwiches and some crazy supreme tot's or something like that, the tots were bought mainly on a whim, we weren't expecting much to be honest, we just wanted the sammies, but man, these tots were killer, my girlfriend and i were swooning over them, loaded with cheese, sour cream, big pieces of bacon and green onion, these tots were just to die for, we absolutely loved them!! I have ordered on Uber Eats from Knuckle Sandwich. I have had almost every sandwich from this restaurant, always delicious, fresh and tasty. Today I took my youngest, Gabby for her 24th BDay because she wanted a good sandwich in my area. We ordered the Cubano for and the Steak for me with fries and gravy. Everything was amazing, great portions and fresh. My steak sandwich was seasoned well, the chimichuri flavourful and the steak cooked to perfection, medium rare. Me and my fiance decided to check this place out due to the good reviews, and the fact that they are fairly new. Came at 5:30PM on a weekday and around 6PM, the place got busy pretty quickly. I ordered a grilled cheese ($6), and my fiance ordered their beef brisket sandwich ($9.50). We also got fries ($3.50) Beef Brisket sandwich - is a must try! The beef was sooooo tender and juicy, and the meat was delicious! My only complaint is that the price is a bit on the expensive side, it's almost $10 for an average-sized sandwich. Grilled cheese - for $6 the grilled cheese is huge, and I found this delicious as well. The cheese was nice and melty and wasn't too sweet. The bread was thin. I did enjoy the grilled cheese. It tasted great. Fries were tasty and not too salty. We enjoyed all the items we ordered. Wait time is at least 15 mins but the wait is worth it. We got bored waiting, so we asked for their wi-fi password in which the server was happy to give. Password's their phone number. Over-all this is a good place to try one-time. Prices are a bit on the expensive side for the amount of serving you get. Review 64 of 100 read more

My girlfriend suggested this place the other night.. We don't live in the area, but seeing some of the reviews on Yelp, and the post from BlogTO, we wanted to give it a try. And I'm really glad we made the drive out to this place. I had the porchetta sandwich topped with a fried egg and a poutine. Btw: the portions are very generous! Tons of meat in the sandwiches. So much that the gf was getting full after just 2/3rds of the way through her brisket, so I happily took a couple of big bites to help her out (though, I'm pretty sure I saw her give me some cut eye as I did... She really hates sharing when it comes to good food) The quality of the ingredients was outstanding - you can really tell they put a lot of effort into getting the taste just right. It's not often you come across a sandwich shop that puts so much care into their product.. I highly recommend this one and will definitely be going back. read more

Great new sandwich joint on the Coxwell and O'Connor strip! Came here for dinner with my partner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is casual, has a fair number of tables and seats for individuals or small groups, with a few bar stools by the window. A large wall menu is on the right as soon as you walk in and you order/pay first and then sit down for your food to arrive. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which was delicious, crunchy from the slaw and crispy chicken, and very flavourful. My partner ordered the beef brisket sandwich which was also flavourful. Both were $9.50 each, which is comparable to other burger/sandwich places. We also ordered fries and onion rings on the side which were crispy and delicious with their Sriracha ketchup! Salads are also available on their menu. I'd definitely come back whenever I'm in the area again to try their poutine and other sandwiches! Public street parking is available from Monday to Saturday; free street parking on Sundays. read more

The first time I went to Knuckle Sandwichn was closer to when it opened, before they changed their menu. At the time I had the Porchetta sandwich and got an egg on top. It was great. Any sandwich with an egg on top is great. Well, as long as it's a runny egg. The menu has changed since, and the Porchetta is no longer on the menu. I like that they are a sandwich shop that switches things up, so I don't mind. I think the fried chicken sandwich has always been on the menu... This time I got the butter milk fried chicken sandwich. It was a pretty delicious sandwich. I would get it again. The sandwiches might be a little pricer than some other sandwiches in the area but they are definitely a good size. I'm feeling full and I didn't even get a side with it. And if they are using ethically raised meats than it all adds up. Speaking of sides, I am curious to try their poutine as it looks pretty good. Bonus points for being right near the new LCBO on Coxwell. read more

Went in 7ish for a bite to eat after work, picked up an Arugula salad for the wife and I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and basic Poutine all to go. The large salad was $9.00, opened the box to find there was some Arugula leafs with around 5 small pieces of goats cheese and maybe the same amount of walnuts, the salad dressing was....well....lacklustre, overall, very disappointing . The Shrimp Po boy had a lot of fresh veggies in a toasted bun, however, I know why it was Po, they only had shrimp placed on the edge of the sandwich and they were very bland. Finally, the Poutine, I saved the best for last, great fries and gravy, again, could have used some more cheese curds but the overall taste was excellent. Nice to see a new establishment in the neighbourhood, hope they make the much needed changes in order to succeed. read more
