I REALLY want to like Divina. Like really really…read more Two weekends back, I popped in as a walk-in after my morning run. I was attended to right away and my nails were nearly perfect. The manicure was done carefully, but quickly, and it lasted me the entire week (which never happens). I was so happy that I made an appointment, on the spot, for the following Friday to return for the works: manicure, pedicure and eyebrow threading. I came in a few minutes early for my Friday appointment and when I came in was told that there was someone ahead of me (not started) and I reminded them I had an appointment. One of the techs reluctantly started a pedicure soak for me and told the young lady that was a walk in they could not attend to her. From when I was seated, to when the nail technician finished with another client and started on me was 25 minutes WITH AN APPOINTMENT. They had one nail tech working that day and several eyebrow and facial technicians that just sat there. I was not even offered a water or anything for the inconvenience. The technician was nice, and definitely just doing her job, so I don't blame her, but she was incredibly quick and made no effort to engage with me. She clearly wanted to get home and zoomed off immediately after she finished the last coat. The manicure looks good, so I think her work was done well. Its not the employees fault, but this salon is poorly run. They are understaffed and do not cater to clients. They were not accommodating or honest about the timing of my appointment. they made very little effort to rectify their mistake of missing my appointment, or give me a chance to leave/tell me they simply couldn't honor my appointment. I appreciate honestly and consideration and the complete waste of time was not appreciated.

I first experience her as a customer years ago, and I'm so thrilled to see that she's been going strong. I recently came from an appointment and she is as good as ever. She's since made some updates to the place: it's more modern and there are only two chairs in total. The doors remain perpetually locked until she lets someone in. Brilliant safety move. There is also a small bench for folks who are waiting their turn, but it's a tight space overall. Threading is now $7, which is still substantially more than less aesthetically pleasing spots down the road, but HIra is charming and still does a good job with her sharp corners, precise trimming, and does a good job with maintaining edges, shape-ups, and balanced brows. There is a small bathroom in the back, as well as a private room for additional procedures. Ventilation is a bit on the stale side, but one won't have to wait too long as she churns through folks quickly and efficiently. Credit card is accepted, but like any quality place in NYC, cash is preferred. Do this and collect one of her loyalty cards for a future local's discount.

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the pricing is still high relative to some of the nail salons I used to frequent in Astoria. Like some others, when this studio opened up there were no reviews and in addition to never seeing anyone leaving/entering, I never thought I'd give them a try. But I am so happy and grateful I decided to give it a shot. Not only are the prices unbeatable ($79 for Hybrid full set with the Groupon!) but my lashes are perfect. And not just perfect-looking. Sonu was so meticulous and handled my lashes with the upmost care. I take my lash health very seriously and after looking closely at her work, there was a perfect 1 lash to 1 fan ratio. When the extension falls out, I can see there are no clumps or more than 1 of my actual lashes. AND ALSO - I got my eyebrows threaded in the same appointment! The service was 10/10, Sonu was incredibly kind and I'm just so happy I finally found my lash spot. Please come to this lash bar! You won't regret it.

I initially thought I would do the Natural Lashes which is what I've typically done with other lash technicians. The lady on the phone explained to me that the Natural Lashes are typically J curls and 11mm in length. Since I usually do C curls, she recommended the Glamour Lash Set instead. I paid a $30 deposit as this is a requirement in case you no-show or cancel within 24 hour notice and paid the remaining balance of $70 via Zelle after getting my lashes done. Note: if you pay with credit card, you will have taxes & fees added so make sure to bring cash or use Zelle. Also, tip is only via cash so come prepared. My lash technician, Lola, did a great job! My lashes have more volume and still look natural, but just more enhanced. She also has such a light touch (either that or I was super tired) because I definitely fell asleep for a bit. I didn't have any stinging or eye pain either. Good try; will definitely consider coming back if this set lasts long!

When I reacted because it hurt, she initially dismissed my concerns and acted as though I was just being sensitive. It wasn't until my toe started bleeding that it became obvious something was wrong. Even then, she minimized the situation, saying it was "a small thing," despite my toe bleeding continuously for several minutes. She tried to continue the pedicure as if nothing had happened. I had to tell her to stop because there was no way I could continue while my toe was actively bleeding. It wasn't until I said I was done with the service that the technician finally apologized. What was even more disappointing was the lack of concern from management. While I was sitting there holding a cotton ball against my bleeding toe, the manager never came over to check on me or ask if I was okay. When the technician told the manager that I wouldn't be getting the service, the manager simply responded, "I know," and walked away. The only thing the manager eventually offered me was a Band-Aid. Accidents can happen, but what made this experience unacceptable was how both the technician and the manager handled the situation. Instead of showing empathy, taking accountability, or making any effort to address what had happened, they minimized the incident and seemed unconcerned. Customer care and professionalism were clearly lacking, and I cannot recommend this salon.
