Necklace set purchased. List price as shown but was able to get it for $60.
Liz S.

I came here because they have some great jewelry stocked in their windows and the prices are semi decent. I bought a beautiful set here for about $60, marked down. However, my biggest complaint about this place has to be the staff. When I bought the necklace, I wanted to show my father before purchasing. I told her it was for my engagement party and that my dad wanted to see it before I purchased it. She refused to have me photograph it until I basically explained my entire situation. It's such a ridiculous policy, considering that all their jewelry is stocked in the windows and anyone walking by can take as many pictures as they'd like. I'm all about small businesses protecting themselves but this policy is somewhat ridiculous. Another time, my friend was looking for a bindi in a specific color and one of the girls at the shop refused to help her look through her stock. She kept saying that the color she wanted wasn't in stock while it was sitting in plain view. My friend literally took it out in front of her and she agreed to ring us up for it. She really just wanted us to buy any bindi and was way too lazy to show us what was in stock. It's just quite strange that I have had such offputting interactions with the staff at this place. I do appreciate what they carry and it's nice to have a place with such good selection and quality for costume jewelry. But really, customer service is really lacking.

Really great, absolutely NO FRILLS WHATSOEVER place for threading, waxing, just about any kind of hair removal that isn't via laser. They also provide pretty extensive skin related services and I think henna...but I'm not totally sure. I've only come here for eyebrow threading because let's be honest - $5 brows done by gals that actually know what they're doing is an absolute steal. The staff here is friendly and will do as asked while keeping in mind what is best for your particular face shape. Their hair removal services most definitely warrant at least a 4 star rating, but I knocked it back to three because the signs posted outside completely lie about hair prices. This place is a wide room with hair removal and skin services to the right and a modest, no frills hair salon to the left. When I inquired about their "$20 wash & blow" special that was advertised outside (I asked with my long, thick hair up in a bun mind you) I was told, and I QUOTE, "it's $20 for boy hair". WTF is "boy hair"?! If I had a pixie cut I'd be somewhat offended by that term. It's also a HUGE pet peeve of mine when businesses advertise one thing, sans any sort of fine print, and then change it up depending on the customer. Sure - my hair is thick, long and naturally a blend of soft curly wavey curls and it's understandable that you want to charge me more than $20 to wash and blow it, but then write on the sign "for short hair only". Customers should NOT have to assume that prices are only for certain people and apparently for "boy hair" in this case...let's not even get into culture or languages because her English was fantastic. Also this is random and I'm not taking it into consideration as far as my rating goes, but this place is imis-categorized on Yelp, this ISN'T Flushing Meadows, it's Jackson Heights and the app says I'm too far away to check in even though I was sitting inside. Oof.

$5 for eyebrow threading. Where can you find such deal and professionals? It's great for its value.

I'm writing this review because I moved to PA and I miss my favorite eyebrow aunty!…read more Let's get one thing straight - she's the best eyebrow threader (that is best suitable for ME and a lot of my friends) in the Elmhurst/forest hills area. She knows what she is doing, however, she doesn't have enough space in her shop to do it comfortably. It would be cool if all the local regulars could help her start raising some money so she can provide a bit more, but in a perfect world. Anyways, I have tried at least FIVE different threading salons near my new apt and all of them SUCK. They're all desi (south Asian peeps) and they have the worst threading techniques. Not to mention they finish my service in less than 5 mins.... and charge me $10+... for eyebrows..... like you're not in Manhattan so bring your prices down. Sushila takes her time on me. She not only threads but tweezes my shiz to perfection. She has a steady hand, uses quality thread (from India) and will fix it if you don't like it. The people who gave bad reviews, there may be a language barrier or misunderstanding because she's great at what she does. I've gone to her for waxing and eyebrows - never had an issue. Also - nobody's paying me for this review nor do I know if she'll see this herself lol just really miss sushila because quarantine is killing a sis.

I hate to write negative reviews for small business but you do not want to come here for a mani or…read morepedi.. it seems like while they do offer the service, their forte are eyebrow threading and hair removal. I came here on a whim as I walked past but soo much regret. Originally wanted to get my eyebrow threaded but forgot I already prepaid for an eyebrow threading card elsewhere so I switched to a manicure because I hate doing my own nails. Chose my colour and sat down.. the lady who did my nails did not want to do nails and you could tell. Whenever I walk into a nail salon, the host is very friendly, engages with you and talks to you about your day. Nope... not a single word out of this lady. She was a bit aggressive when she was filing my nails.. kinda pulled my hand like a mom pulling her kid to come this way. Like... you're in the service industry, what... Filing was not straight.. you can see that from my picture. I asked her to fix it because I could've done it myself if I wanted something so imperfect but I think she was annoyed.. she did cut my nails, filed, buffed, apply cuticle oil, cut my cuticle and gave me a small hand massage. Colour.. yikes.. the colour was sheer to the point where it doesn't look like I have anything on. I think she should've done at least 3-4 coats but only did two.. colours are suppose to be opaque but no.. I came home and luckily had a colour that was similar enough to paint on top. Overall, not returning for nails. Probably wouldn't even return for brows.. the place is tiny.. uncomfortably small but if you're really on a whim, give their threading a try as I do see a lot of people come in for that. Not recommended for nails.

This is a neighborhood gem. The owner has had this location since 1976 and can always be found…read moreright up front interacting with customers. I love this! I just had a wonderful facial with Ramona. She was extremely detailed, gentle and professional. She didn't try to sell me a bunch of unnecessary services but offered her advise when asked. Yes they do 2 facials at a time but they only move back and forth while you steam or while you lay with your finishing mask. They don't stop working on you to work on someone else. I don't mind this since it's probably how they keep their prices down. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of time, product and work they do. I walked out glowing and their is nothing better for staying young than keeping your face clean. I would highly recommend this place and Ramona. I'll be back next month.

Although the person performing the facial did an okay job, the experience was terrible. They…read moreadvertise that the facials are an hour and a half long but they don't mention that it's that long because they do two clients at the same time. While one person is getting something down, the other person waits then vise versa. This is how they schedule them (t's NOT because an employee didn't show up or they tried to fit another person in). A couple came in after us and they were also told that they perform facials 2 at a time. Both beds are right next to each other in what can only be described as a wide hallway (people have to walk through to get to the back). She started on me first before my nephew arrived and was brought in for his treatment. While I was getting extractions, he waited under the vapor (for longer than anyone should). While he was getting extractions, I was left waiting with a mask on. My nephew is a teenager with hormonal acne so I knew I was going to have to wait a long time before she would finish with me. After about 15-20 minutes, I used the excuse that I needed to use the bathroom to get up. While in the bathroom I noticed that the band she used to pull my hair back was stained. I can't confirm what the stains were but I have an idea of what it could be. I would have never seen it if it weren't for the fact that I got up to use the bathroom. When I returned, I watched her do extractions on my nephew for a few minutes. She used a tool I didn't recognize (it looked like a razor with a point at the end). Never once did she ask him if he was okay or he needed a break or anything at all. After waiting another 10-15 minutes, I finally told her I had to leave and she put my nephew under the vapor again while she took off the mask and finished my facial. My nephew was there for a total of TWO AND A HALF HOURS. Again, it's one thing if the 1.5-2.5 hours were all focused on you, but it's not. Half the time you're waiting for your turn. There were other things I had issues with but I think this is enough for one review.
