My family has been customers at gold optometry for 6 years or longer. Their optometrists are wonderful and very professional. Especially one of the permanent optometrists, takes her time to obtain accurate eye sights as well as look for any possible health concerns regarding your eyes. Only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 1. Sadly, things have changed sadly on the front side. Recent 3 separate visits by my husband, my daughter and me left such a bad impression, we will no longer fit our glasses or contacts lenses here. On my visit, the salesman have quoted a price of the contacts lenses at higher price, then faked it as if he was giving me a discount. I have alway gotten my lenses for past 5 years at same price. And he acted as he was offering me a favor by giving me at same price. I would understand if he justifies the price change for inflation reason but he tried to doubt my self of the past price. What the heck? I felt so annoyed about his condescending attitude the whole time. Two other incidents with my husband and my daughter are so unprofessional, there not enough space here to write about it. There are many other Korean optical in Korean town, I recommend you try other ones. read more

The service here is great. I don't suggest buying a brand name sunglasses or frames here, because I can always find a better deal else where. But the service is just great so getting an ordinary glasses is perfect here. They do the fastest job and have the magic skills in adjusting your glasses for a perfect fit! I also love to get my nose pads attached on my brand name sunglasses which are specifically designed for Western people feature. They do an awesome job. read more

Ive been to other places and paid much more for awful glasses, but i'm highly impressed by this place I have very bad eyesight in my left eye right eye is somewhat okay and I also have stigmatism. The eye doctor was so caring and professional she explained everything I needed to know, week later I picked up my glasses and a older gentleman made sure the glasses fit nicely and also explained that it would awhile for my eyes to adjust to the new lens and to give it some time. I'll never return to this place again. My family has been customers for 20 years, but recently the owner of the LA branch came to Garden Grove and has turned this place into a mess. The bald grandpa is extremely rude, and after placing the order for my glasses lens incorrectly, he did not apologize. I had called four hours before to confirm that everything was ready, and they told me yes, which is why I drove the long distance to get the lens on my glasses replaced. As soon as I arrived, they told me they had just checked now and realized only one of the two lens had been ordered. I was frustrated at their mistakes and inefficiency, rightfully so. Rather than apologizing and explaining how they had messed up, the grandpa began to yell and literally point his finger at me. He said they hadn't committed a crime to die for, so I shouldn't be angry. He said he has way too many customers and no time to check that orders are placed and received correctly. He said I have no right to be angry at him because he has three children my age--he obviously thinks his status as a parent deems him worthy of respect, even though his actions and behavior did not earn him any. If you want to be treated with disrespect by the employees of this business, feel free to be their customer. read more

The worst service ever. Ordered 2 pairs of glasses and was told to pick up in a week. I called 3 times to check on the status. Each time I was told by this guy name Henry saying he'll call back but never did. I called once more and was told it is ready. I drove 20 miles in the rain to pick up but it wasn't ready. I had to wait an hour and half. The next day, I realized there was no transition (turns dark in the sun, which I paid extra) was not there. I took it back and was told it will be another week. I called twice and after 2 weeks later, I was told it is ready. Went to pick up and one of them still is not ready. The guy name Henry was not even apologetic but tried to say it was confusing because there are two. This is totally unacceptable service. Do not go there!!!! read more

Came here just to see if they take my insurance for eye exam and prescription around 4:30 on a Monday. They were able to help me really quick and i was going to set an appointment but they said i could do it right there and then. The eye exam took less than 30 minutes, then i looked around for glasses. They have all the new trendy eye wear and tons of luxury brands. Because they took my insurance (vsp), i got a Prada glasses for so cheap. It takes about a week to get the glasses witb new prescriptions and i left in less than an hour. After almost 8 years of coming here, this place has yet to disappoint me. Although communication at-times could be difficult if you do not speak Korean, the workers will still try their best to stay professional and provide you the product you came for. Not to mention, the store also has a waiting area where adults can sit on a comfortable leather couch, all-while the kids can have fun in the child-safe playground set. Most importantly, cleanliness is evident in all parts of the store which suggests that the quality of the product you're buying has also been held to that same degree. This place is overpriced and they are very shady about their business. They are very difficult about insurance and never consistent. I came here awhile back and gave them my insurance info which I have used here for years and they told me they didn't accept my insurance anymore. I was confused and came back a week later because I really needed contacts and they accepted it this time. I never realized how much I was overpaying for my contacts and glasses till my friends told me that the optometry across the street would have cost me literally half of what I spent at Gold Optometry. I went here about a year ago, but it was the worst experience with a licensed professional I've ever had. The people in the front were nice enough, but I didn't like the optometrist doing my eye exam because she seemed stuck up and criticized my medical history. When I told her my medical history, she started admonishing any medication I've been taking and how they're all unhealthy for me, directly contradicting my family doctor and all the specialists I've seen. The issues were outside of optometry and not within the scope of the visit. I won't be coming back or recommending this practice to anyone. read more

I've been coming here all my life because my mom just took my sisters and here since I could ever remember but I never realized how horrible the service was until about 4 years ago. They have been telling my entire family and me that we could get eye exams only every 2 years and my mom accepted that, but when I called my insurance company, they said that I could get it once every year. Also, the opticians are miserable, rude, and completely disrespectful. They argued over the glasses I wanted by saying that "your vision is so bad we can't make normal glasses lenses for these frames" and that "the glasses are too cheap. get more expensive ones." they completely ignore you sometimes for no reason at all. also, i ordered lenses from Walgreens because I noticed that they had been waaaaaaaay overcharging me throughout the years and they denied my prescription, claiming that my prescription is "too old" and that i needed an eye exam, even though it hasn't even been a year since I last had my eye exam. I also have noticed that the last prescription was not accurate because everything was blurry in one eye, and when I went in for a re-check up, they basically said that I was wrong and that my vision is perfectly fine. obviously, I would know if my vision was blurry. Service is horrible here, and it is DEFINITELY worth it to drive further to get better service. I COMPLETELY agree with the other bad reviews on this place because the opticians ARE pretentious, snooty, and miserable, and all they want is for you to come in quickly, get what you want, and they don't feel wrong about basically telling you to leave once you've paid. Went here 2 times (first when I was in college) and just recently. Need glasses for cheap? They got it. Need designer frames to polish off your look? They got it too. I heard about this place from a co-worker of mine (who's white btw but who knew she'd recommend me a Korean optometry store..hehe..). Their selection of glasses is pretty plentiful. The less expensive glasses are on the left of the store and the designer glasses are on the right. Fendi, Prada, Armani, Burberry, Chanel, Oliver Peoples, Bvlgari, Gucci, etc are all available. I was pretty poor when I just started college and I had no insurance so I went here and was able to get 2 pair of glasses for $60 (frames/glasses combined). That's $30 a pair! AWESOME HUH? The price may have gone up but I still think their prices are pretty good for their selection. A lot of stores don't have a big variety when it comes to less expensive frames. They have an optometrist there if you don't have one and I believe the eyeglass exam is $30-$40. They've switched twice now but I think this Dr. is here to stay. Nice guy..funny..and speaks English! The sales people there look intimidating but actually are very nice and helpful. They found out I wasn't Korean so directed me to the guy there that speaks the best English. They took the time to help me out and I tried on tons of frames. Especially the second time around because I knew I was going to drop some serious $ on these and wanted to make sure I picked the best one. *Whispers*... They hook you up with the prices if you pay cash (on the nicer frames). I never bargained but I did tell them what I was looking to spend out the door and I scored my Fendi with frame/eye exam for $320. They added anti-glare and scratch-free on to my glasses for free. Glasses were ready in 2 days. Not bad. I came back and the guy took at least 15-20 minutes to make sure my glasses fit perfectly because of my Vietnamese-I-have-no-bridge nose. =) I took my dad here to get glasses and he liked the place a lot too. He got the basic glasses and they were really nice to him and treated him like any other customer who would of bought more expensive frames. I like service like that. I've been to others where if you didn't buy the premiums ones..they treated you like a pest more than customer. Ew huh? I like Gold. =) read more

I had visited this store on 12/14/2019 in order to replace the old lens. But Mr Park was not professional for Optometry. I requested the reading area for my lens to be wider. Even though I have problem for far-sight, I requested the focus of the lens to be upper area and I received it on 1/16/2020. But he made the regular lens for me and I requested to fix it. He said it takes a long time for approving from Insurance company. He said he'll call me after fixing it. I had visited there in order to check the status 2/10/2020. But he showed me the glasses not to be repaired. He insisted he fixed it but my old one is better for me. That means he charged without replacing it. I spent $520 (from Insurance) and $250 (from my pocket) for only replacing the lens only. I suggest please never visit this store. I'll keep on visiting the Lenscraft again. read more
