We experienced discrimination. They let us see their 3 units. And when we came back return the keys, they told us that we are NOT ALLOWED to apply/rent because we are a family of 4. I came to tour 3 properties and the staff was rude when I came back to turn in the keys. Instead of handing back my ID, it was tossed back onto the counter, and slid off to the floor. No one apologized or acknowledged it, which felt quite rude and dismissive. The interaction was disrespectful and unprofessional. Awesome property manager. After living in my apartment for a short time, I noticed two issues. First I noticed a window latch was broken. I called Godin and they gave me the phone number for their window guy so I could work out an appointment time that worked best for me. I called and they came out the same day and replaced the latch. Later I noticed the bathroom sink and tub drains were not draining like they should. They were not completely stopped but, not flowing normally. I mentioned this as I was paying my rent and the lady said we'll get that taken care of. She gave me the phone number for their plumbing company. I called them and they came out the next day. They even went to Godin and picked up a key with my approval. I came home from work and it was repaired and working perfectly. I can't imagine a better property management company. If I ever need another rental, I will definitely look at the properties they manage first. read more

I've moved several times. It's a horrid experience.... ...until I found Godin Properties. They have been nothing but helpful. Their office is close by and they respond to service requests rapidly. The deposit structure and rent are fantastic for the building I'm living in. Prologue: (skip to review if you don't care) I would first like to give you the reader as to my own previous experiences with property management companies so that it may better help leverage my opinion on property management companies. I am a recent college graduate and will be starting grad school this upcoming fall, I have lived in six different apartment complexes since I have started college and have dealt with some pretty nasty property management companies, one of which I had to initiate litigation on just to get back my deposit! and many others with miscellaneous smaller issues. I must say, however, that Godin Properties has been a great company to deal with. Review: As the first reviewer indicated, Godin Properties have been nothing but helpful, they are fast, reasonable, and don't seem to nit pick on minor issues, for the one year term they have been my property management company they have not once been excessively bothersome or have given me reason to question their management practice, what I like most about them is their website www.godinproperties.com it goes straight to their current property list and does not go through random pages of crap or filler it just indicates a lot of the important information I care about: monthly rental costs, deposit, included amenities, etc. They are also very reasonable negotiators when it comes to rental rate, most of their listings as of this review seem to be month to month and if you plan to stay at least a year don't hesitate to negotiate with them for a lower monthly rental rate. The only downside that I would say about Godin Properties is that they have very limited hours: 9:30am-12pm and 1:30pm-5pm, Monday-Friday that's only 6 hours a day, 30 hours a week and only on weekdays, so if you are on a standard 8am-5pm work schedule you will end up having to take off work to deal with them directly. They don't nitpick, and they respond when called. I have referred friends to this agency for years! I applied for an apartment nearly 2 weeks ago and never received a call back or response! If I was not approved or someone else rented the apartment, I should have been notified. So unprofessional and will never refer friends or family to this agency again. When I followed up and I was informed the apartment had been rented! Have respect for your applicants and treat them as you would want to be treated. Communicate!!!! Godin Properties is great. I honestly don't have any other rental management to compare them to (got my first apartment with them!) but I can honestly say I have been happy with them ever since. They rent out few properties in mainly in Long Beach, Lakewood, and nearby cities. Their office is on Wardlow and California. I first found out about them on Craigslist but they have their own website which I love; the website is as simple as it can be... its just a list of available places and all the essential details... number of rooms, what utilities are included, and rent/deposit! To view an available apartment you would need to visit the office and pick up a key and view it yourself. How simple right!? Straight to the point without all the mumbo jumbo alot of other rental management places do. When I got my first apartment there, the application process was very smooth... I moved in in 3 days! I'm not sure of other properties they rent out, but I was offered month to month rental agreements which is great, as a lot of other places in this city only offer lease. Rent is reasonable, and so far I have no complaints about my building; my neighbors are nice, place is safe, and everything is maintained nicely. For any maintenance, Godin is quick to help, like super quick! The only thing I am not so happy about it are the hours; they are only open M-F and the lunch hour is from 12-1:30, so going to their office to pay rent requires me to take lunch early or super late. Other than that, this is a great rental property management and I highly recommend checking them out :) read more

Wow, I am shocked at the positive reviews of Godin Properties. First of all they are never open, and when they are they seem too busy to want to help. I agree with Danielle, the customer service is the worst. I own a few of properties in the area and considered using them as my property management company, but with my busy schedule and commute it was impossible to get in to speak with anybody. They are closed on the weekends, and only open from 9 - 12 and 1:30 -5. How is a potential tenant that is employed supposed to view a property? They said they show properties on their lunch hour, but unless you live in the area that is completely unrealistic. When I did finally connect with them, I found the staff to be cold and impersonal. I was really shocked considering it is a 'family-run business'. It's a pretty dysfunctional family if you ask me. I submitted an application for a rental (me being the renter) and I mentioned to them that my brother would live there as well. They asked for an application from him after I was open about his low credit score. Never did they disclose that his low credit would be a deciding factor in making their decision, they made it seem that there was still a possibility for approval- (I am the renter not him). We turned in 2 applications and all other documents requested. At time of submittal I was told the apartment was still available. Next day I receive a call that they had approved someone else, I called them back and asked why I hadn't been chosen. Their response was "due to your brother's credit." I understand that they have a business to run but I don't appreciate having my credit run for no reason after I was completely open about his low credit score, had they mentioned that this would be a factor I wouldn't of submitted all of my personal information. They have sub par customer service, and seem to have little to no consideration for renters that are in need of finding their next home. read more
