My first dining experience at Goatlandia was dinner last evening and it was everything I'd hope it would be! I was able to taste 5 different dishes and would most definitely order each of them again (see pics). Menu offerings will be continually changing to keep up with the freshest seasonal ingredients. What a creative, artistic blending of flavors and textures in each dish! The menu items last night reminded me very much of those served at Greens Restaurant. All the ingredients are very, very fresh and sourced from local growers and producers. The medley of veggies offered would be the envy of any gardener! Each dish was beautifully presented, looking as wonderful as they tasted. Servings were ample and even tho' they had a lightness to them due to the freshness of the ingredients, the food was also hearty. It's doubtful that anyone would ever leave the restaurant still hungry. The list of drinks included a limited but adequate choice in each category: wines, beer & cider and non-alcoholic beverages. I had a cherry balsamic shrub which was served without any embellishments but was quite tasty.
The physical space is rustic with a corrugated roof and natural wood--essentially a covered porch dining area. The seating (individual chairs not benches) was comfortable enough and I don't say that lightly since I have a back that lets me know when it's not happy with a chair. No complaints. The one long wall is decorated with a delightful collection of whimsical art--many are goat-themed. In addition to the covered porch there is a fairly large outdoor area with tables and the future plan is to have a stage for live music. When I dined at Goatlandia last evening it had been a pretty warm day and reached 90+ as the high. By 5pm there was enough air circulating that the covered porch dining area was comfortable but on a very hot day it could be difficult. I told my server that it would be great to install a couple of ceiling fans and she said they already had it on their list items to accomplish. And speaking of my server CeCe--she was wonderful; very welcoming, attentive, personable and efficient. It was also obvious that she and the other staff members enjoyed the working environment at Goatlandia Kitchen. During my meal the chef/owner Deborah came out to say hello and to see how I was enjoying my choices ("immensely"). The atmosphere exuded hospitality. I was generously treated to a complimentary glass of excellent Kinero Grenache Blanc and a delicious fresh corn puree in a kind of large shooter glass. I'm so lucky to be a short drive away from Goatlandia Kitchen and envision going back again and again, with friends or by myself.
