We hired Tim for our wedding this past weekend and needless to say, it was more than anything we could have ever imagined! We connected with Tim back in the fall, and instantly clicked after hearing he worked out of a small shop in a small town that I had gone to high school at. From start to finish, both Tim and his team went above and beyond-from accommodating to our friends who were vegan (they made stuffed mushrooms), to doing check-ins, with us to make sure things were okay. I would hire Tim over and over again. Long story short, Tim catered my wedding. We initially were supposed have Tim and his Grill as well as a second caterer. Well, the second caterer cancelled on us right after we said "I, do". Tim caught wind of this and immediately told me "don't even worry about it. We will make sure everyone is fed." He wasn't kidding. Within minutes of hearing our our other caterer cancelled, Tim sent his son to the market and his son returned with something like 10-15 tri tips, probably 30 more lbs of chicken, and whipped up enough Mac and cheese to feed the entire event. ABSOLUTE MUST HIRE. These guys catered my brothers wedding. When they arrived (probably early would be my guess) they were super cordial and talkative, and walked us through all the meats and sides they were planning on making. My husband and I enjoyed chatting with them and were excited about the food - which was AMAZING. The biggest reason for this review though is how they saved the day - the bbq was just one part of the wedding food. The second option, a taco truck, canceled after the ceremony was complete! I'll save my comments on that for another time, but what was amazing is how the BBQ guys responded - he said "don't worry we got this" and rushed into town and bought probably every pound of meat possible. I was so impressed and happy for them saving the day - but honestly the food was so amazing that I think it was a blessing in disguise. 5 stars for taste. 5 stars for service, 5 stars for enthusiasm and geniality. 5 stars doesn't even do Tim justice. He literally saved the day at our wedding. We had booked Tim along with a taco truck for our guests, and the taco truck didn't show up. Tim made a last minute run to a market and cooked up some additional tri trips. We had only asked Tim to feed 100 people and he ended up not only feeding our entire wedding but had plenty of leftovers as well. Tim is simply THE BEST. My husband, Austin, and I were married this past June in Cloverdale and Tim catered our wedding. The food was delicious and many of our guests raved about their dinner (we had a lot of tables go back to the buffet for seconds!) Tim is a super hero! He literally came to the rescue when my last minute search for a wedding caterer led me to his site. He is cheerful, very friendly and incredibly accommodating. He worked really hard to be available for any questions or concerns I had, and even met me at the wedding venue to get a lay of the land so everything would go smooth at the reception. I've been lucky enough to try three different sandwich plates from A Guy and His Grill. Unbeatable value! The chicken, tri-tip, and pulled pork were all great sandwiches for those with a healthy appetite! But the pulled pork is my favorite. Heaps of tender pork, delicious sauce, great bun. The beans are off the hook! The cornbread and potato salad are also homemade and are really good. I highly recommend treating yourself to one of Tim's sandwich plates. I have used a guy and his Grill for two catering events and I was blown away each time. Food is PHENOMENAL and the customer service we received each time is top notch. HMMMMMMM, SMELL THAAATTT...it's the smell of delicious awesomeness. I decided to have lunch today at the Farmer's Market at the Veteran's building, and I chose to try "A Guy and His Grill" cause I've seen his tent before and was already intrigued by the name. I ordered tri tip, potato salad and porky beans. The potato salad was okay to me, but man oh man, the porky beans!! There's pork mixed in with the beans coated by the sweet bbq sauce mix. It tastes pretty darn good on a cold rainy day. The tri tip was on point! It was cooked just right and sliced just the right thickness. This was a full-on meal, and I was satisfied. Now I just want more tri tip! (oh, and try everything else, of course). What I am MOST impressed is that this is a one man shop. Tim (the owner/cook/foodie) handles everything, from taking orders to cooking to assembling to receiving payment. Mad respect! Don't be impatient with him when you order from his tent. It'll be worth your time and monies and your stomach will thank you. I was able to briefly chat with Tim for a moment, and he just loves food and seeing people being happy while eating food makes Tim happy. He's a jolly fellow with food to offer! Plus he has a square and accepts cards, which is super convenient (cause let's be real here...how much cash do we have left after buying all the local veggies and fruits). This man is a beast on the grill! Showed up kinda late at the farmers market, all he had left was pulled pork. I got the sandwich. Man, it was epic. That orange sauce, it was like nectar of the gods. I have no idea what is in that sauce, and I don't want to know. There are some things man was not meant to know, he was meant to accept and consume. Tim's pulled pork and sauce was in that category. The beans? Yep, fantastic with huge chunks of meat. I assume they are magic beans because I ate them 8 hours ago and have not farted once since. Next time, more beans! I will come earlier next week to the market and try the tri tip. Maybe some chicken if he has it too. And cornbread. And whatever else he makes. I eat a lot of bbq. I love bbq. I happened upon A Guy and His Grill at Russian River over the 4th. He had pulled pork sandwiches and chicken. I stared as people walked by with piled high sandwiches of pulled pork. I finally went and ordered a chicken sandwich. To die for. The chicken was cooked to perfection and so super juicy. I mean, I've never had chicken like this before. It's usually undercooked or overcooked and dry. This guy does it so perfectly I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Tim made most of the food for my annual backyard dinner party for 32 people, and it was fantastic. Tim was wonderful - fun to work with, and super-accommodating in adding menu items to suit my veggie and gluten-free friends. He made grilled zucchini and yellow squash that was gorgeous. Tim cooked at our baby shower (party) for close to 100 people. The whole catering experience, from start to finish, was absolutely incredible. To begin, Tim is an awesome guy. He went over every little detail with us before the event and executed everything to perfection. He was on time, his staff was alert and courteous, he cleaned up promptly.
