For entrees, we chose the salmon and the chicken, of which they have plenty of variety. For vegetarians/vegans, there was a stuffed mushroom option. Throughout the process, Sue was so attentive, hands-on, and flexible. She worked with us on making trade-offs to fit our budget, made many selfless suggestions that helped us save money, and even joined us at Encore to choose our rentals. She went absolutely above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible, and all her staff were just as wonderful. Jasmine organized an incredible tasting for us and helped us cater to all the dietary needs across our guest list when selecting our menu. The food at the tasting and on the day of our wedding was absolutely incredible. Our guests are still raving about it months later, and so many people have said it's the best wedding food they've ever had. The family style service was also a big hit among our guests, and service during dinner was impeccable! The special touches for the bride and groom really set Trends apart as well. They did everything possible to ensure my husband and I found time and space to eat throughout the day, Jasmine had our signature drinks ready for us as soon as we walked down the aisle, and the team even packed a to-go bag with leftovers for us to snack on at the end of the night. We used Trends for the catering at our wedding and it was amazing! We had multiple guests say it was the best wedding food they had ever had! I really loved that they offered family style food. It made it feel like everyone was family and gave people options to try different things which is how I like to eat so it was perfect for my wedding! The mashed potatoes were some of the best I have ever had, and we loved the vodka pasta dish! We also loved the tri-tip with pinot reduction and crispy shallots. Lastly, the Vine Hill House Salad was just delicious and the candied pecans in it were spectacular. Susan is amazing, so organized and offers many different options to choose from when picking your menu. She had this incredible cheese grazing table for cocktail hour, endless passed appetizers, and her team made delicious cocktails. Her team also did a great job setting the tables and serving our dessert. I always wanted my favorite ice cream (Screamin Mimi's) and her staff was willing to scoop it for my guests. We really felt she went above and beyond to make sure we got everything we wanted and she delivered the best experience. Trends is the best catering in Sonoma County! They are incredible to work with at all times during planning and the wedding. We worked with Trends for our June 2017 outdoor wedding. They truly helped us in more ways than just catering. They were big influences on what rentals we needed and worked with our planner to make sure they had what they needed for our site. Our site didn't have an outdoor kitchen and had limited power supply, but Trends being local to the area for so long, had done weddings there before and knew exactly what to do and what foods to recommend for the situation. Sue was easy to get a hold of and a wealth of knowledge. She really kept us focused and was willing to work with us and get things into budget. The tasting day was one of my favorites and her team had prepared full plates of food - we did not leave hungry! She helped us to create the Pescetarian menu we had hoped for and was very supportive of our decision to do so. What can I say about Susan?! She's the best! After I had looked into a number of catering companies, my venue owner suggested I meet with Susan. "You two will really get along," he said. Well, he wasn't kidding. Susan and I are both type A people. I was planning my entire wedding, and I wanted to play a big part in deciding how to make the food "us." Susan was one of my favorite parts of the planning process. She jumped at all my ideas, would add her two-cents, and from there we'd develop a plan. She's quick to respond to your emails, like, very quick! We found that bouncing ideas off each other was a lot of fun! She understood that I didn't want a cookie-cuter wedding, and she delivered! Her food was made AT the venue - not "seared" at the venue. Our guests RAVED about the food! This is hard to come by at a wedding. And because we were off taking pictures & talking with people, we didn't get much to eat - so she surprised us with a huge bag of food to take home at the end including 1 plate of each dish, not just each entree, but even the hor d'oeroves! She not only agreed to make enough cookies for a cookie bar (instead of a cake), but she used my mom's "famous" recipe! That really touched my heart. She met with me whenever I wanted, and let me tell you this wasn't because she wasn't busy. She was SWAMPED! She was constantly off running to another wedding, or meeting with a bride but she still was able to prioritize me & my wishes. This is what brides want, or at least me - a vendor who can be there when YOU'RE available vs the other way around! The only sad part is that my wedding is over. We had Trends cater our wedding on 4/22 and we couldn't have been happier with their performance. We've repeatedly been having our guests tell us over the last 2 weeks that our wedding food was the best wedding food they've ever had so that's been great to hear. We were introduced to Susan through Vine Hill House and after meeting with her once we knew we had found our caterer and didn't need to meet with others. We shared with her our vision for the wedding day food and she immediately understood what we were looking for and started coming up with great ideas that matched the theme we wanted and it was clear that we were on the same page. We made a number of last-minute changes but nothing threw Susan and her team off and they were completely accommodating on all fronts. Susan is really fun and on point, she was a blast to work with but the most important thing was the quality of the food and the service her team delivered on our wedding day. We did passed appetizers and then a family style meal and got rave reviews on every dish, especially this really cool meatball appetizer that they did that came on a stick with some pieces of pasta on top of it, it was really delicious. To be honest, I've been waiting till after my wedding to write this review, but I knew from DAY ONE Susan was going to get 5 stars and let me tell you why. I emailed her one day with a vision in mind, she was out of town, but she emailed me back right away to tell me how excited she was and loves trying something new and that she would get back to me when she got home. She followed through, we emailed for a few weeks about the type of dish I wanted (Southern but classy BBQ) and she created this AMAZING menu. We met, and it was love at first sight. She is hilarious, down to earth, passionate, hard working, and took my vision and created a master piece. The food was out of this world.... I explained my concerns were all the hungry fireman coming to the wedding and she assured me, no one would go home hungry, and THAT WAS A FACT! People are STILL talking about the food. The best part wasn't the food though (although it's a close second), it was the hospitality! Susan's whole staff is so accommodating even when we wanted to pass bottled beer in koozies (and trust me it sounds like a good idea at the time) but it was not the most 'stable' trays they passed that evening... but they still performed with excellence! Everyone was so quick, and polite and FUN and just amazing. I used to work for a VERY popular and known catering company in Sonoma County, and they don't even compare to the hospitality and service we got from Trends. I should have written this review 6 months ago after Susan and her staff catered our wedding, but better late than never. Not only is her food amazing - yes it's been 6 months and almost every time we eat a meal with someone who was at the wedding it gets compared to her food and almost never matches up - but she is a lifesaver! It rained on our wedding day, and not just rained, but monsooned. Susan and her staff bbq'd under tents, went through at least 3 or 4 changes of clothes, served absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked food, scared away a skunk, and helped make our wedding day absolutely perfect. The best part is that they all did it with huge smiles on their faces. Every time I went into the kitchen (that looked more like the deck of a ship in a terrible storm) they kept telling me they were having a great time. Susan is more than a caterer. She is a champion. I would hire her for any event, and honestly consider her a friend. Perhaps one of these days she'll even teach me how to cook perfect fish in a rainstorm! read more

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience working with Trends because it is such a personalized company that really looks after every detail, from the food to the linens, to the presentation and the service. When we went in for our initial tasting, we were blown away by the food. The polenta squares are to die for, and the rocky road brownies are heavenly! We thought to ourselves, this food tastes so good but there is no way it will taste like this when cooking for so many more people. Man, were we wrong. We had guests from all over - New York, Boston, LA, and everyone is still talking about how amazing the food was at our wedding. The service was also impeccable. Our glasses were always full and we felt totally taken care of. In fact, when we were taking pictures, Sue personally made up a plate of appetizers for us so that we wouldn't miss out! The day before our wedding, we had to change venues due to rain, and Sue was with us every step of the way, brainstorming the plan of attack. We ended up going between two venues, both of which were places Trends had never worked, and everything was pulled off flawlessly. When my (now) husband and I began planning our wedding, we made two extremely wise decisions that basically guaranteed our wedding would be awesome. First, we chose our Venue, Vine Hill House, which is owned and operated by a man named Dan O'Connell. For organizational purposes, I reserve my gushing over Dan for my review of Vine Hill House, but suffice it to say, he is the wedding guru. He, in turn, led us to Susan at Trends, who we quickly learned is the food guru. Anyone who has planned a wedding knows that the bride and groom are not going to agree on everything (or, in some cases, anything). Deciding to book Trends as our caterer was the quickest and easiest decision we made: it took roughly three seconds, or the amount of time it took to sample our first bite of Susan's food at our tasting. Each morsel was not just delicious, it was outrageous. We were unabashedly licking our fingers and plates, eyeing the ground to see if we had dropped any crumbs. On the drive home, we decided it was the best food either of us had ever had, and that if we were ever on death row, we would have to arrange for it to be served as our last meal. I feel terrible admitting it, but other than at my own, I've never really enjoyed any food I've had at a wedding. The term I've probably heard used most often to describe wedding food is "decent" (if it's good...bad can range anywhere from "bland" to "utterly revolting"). We REALLY wanted our food to be delicious and satisfying -- sophisticated comfort food. We wanted our guests to feel like they were at their favorite restaurant. How do I begin to describe the insanely delicious food Susan served at our wedding? The best testament is the feedback we received from our guests. Literally everyone we talked to told us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. Many removed all qualifications and simply said it was the best food they'd ever had. Period. A sizeable group of our guests became so obsessed with the mac 'n cheese we served as a side dish that they started circulating mass e-mails about it, desperately seeking the recipe. A member of our wedding party who happened to know someone on Susan's staff managed to get it (or at least some version of it...hopefully I don't get in trouble with Susan for admitting that). Nearly a month after the wedding, I still get an e-mail or two a day regarding "WORLD'S BEST MAC N CHEESE." Several people I know are serving it on Thanksgiving. In addition to her incredible culinary skills, Susan is, as a person, an absolute delight to work with. She is extremely experienced and a total pro, which enables her to maintain this calm, light-hearted aura while overseeing ten million things at the same time. She also has a great sense of humor, which I personally find to be essential to surviving the wedding planning process. In addition to the compliments we received about the food, we also heard nothing but positive things about Susan's catering staff. So many of our friends and family noted how attentive, friendly, and quick they were. No one ever had an empty glass of wine, which, in and of itself, is enough to make most guests competely happy. Delicious food and amazing service!!! We used Trends Catering for our wedding on 4/30 and the food is amazing and people from the wedding are still telling us how delicious it was! It is SO satisfying to hear your guests had fun, but also loved the food. This will happen for you too if you choose Trends :) All the food was cooked on site at the venue and came out fresh and hot. We did family style and I can't tell you how many people told me they loved not having to choose between the amazing tri tip in a pinot noir reduction or my personal favorite, chicken breast grilled with pancetta and fig. There are too many amazing sides to choose from, but another personal favorite was the pesto pasta. This was a hit with EVERYONE! Vegetarians included :). Trends is a green caterer, with all the food being local coming from a 100 mile radius and everything is seasonal! This makes a huge difference in the taste of your food and something that is so important when choosing a caterer. You also got to chose all your linens for the tables, bar, glasses and flatware with Trends, making the process so simple for you and efficient with it all coming from one place. I chose some amazing rose gold flatware and it was included in the price! It looked phenomenal with my blush/peach linens. I have to specifically mention the staff too. All of the bartenders and servers were some of the nicest people I have ever met or worked with before. They were there to help in any situation, always attentive, and anticipated your needs. Sighhhh....our wedding is over, and I am already trying to think up ways that we can work with with Trends Catering again. I am really lucky in that all our wedding vendors were phenomenal, but Trends Catering is one that will always stick out in my mind. Oh Susan, you seriously rocked our wedding planning world! From my very first e-mail exchange with her, I could sense she was a pretty incredible lady. She was so friendly, warm and told me not to worry about my budget concerns....we would find a way to make it all work. Wow! How refreshing! My husband and I set up a complimentary tasting with her and brought along my mom and dad. It was a beautiful day, and we sat at a lovely table she had set outside, with wine, a full-on delicious meal and dessert. We sat for a couple hours eating and chit-chatting away as if we were all old friends. At that point I knew, we HAD to hire her for our wedding. The food was delicious, her design sense was completely on-point and her fun, down-to-earth, approachable self made the decision one of the easiest in the whole wedding planning process. Over the course of the year in planning our wedding, Susan was uber patient with me and my many ideas....we also had quite a few off-topic e-mail exchanges to discuss what we thought of each week's American Idol performances. ;) That's the thing about Sue.....you instantly feel comfortable with her and know you're in the right hands when she's catering your wedding. Fast-forward to July 7, 2012: Trends Catering seriously knocked it out of the park. Everything came together so beautifully. I was in such awe when I saw all the tables set. The entire waitstaff and bartending staff were AMAZING....so friendly and professional. The food was just as delicious as it was during our tasting! We did family-style service, which was a real hit with all our guests. We received so many compliments on the food, and people are still asking me where they can get her delicious oven-baked polenta. :) What I really liked is that they make all the food on-site, rather than cooking it in their kitchen and bringing it over in warming containers. AND, Sue packed us up an awesome to-go bag of everything so we could eat later in our room too. :) I could go on and on and on and on about what an incredible job Trends Catering did. We tried several caterers and both sets of parents and we all unanimously picked Trends. The food tastes like it's cooked from the heart and it is. Susan is deeply involved in her business and it's very obvious how much she cares about what she's doing. Susan was fabulous to work with and very responsive. The food itself is incredible. I'm still dreaming about the Thai chili quesadilla appetizers we had passed around. The family-style service was also a big hit for everyone! Susan's staff were really on top of it - we never saw a line at the bar and the servers were thorough, efficient, and friendly. They also did a great job of checking in with me and making sure I was eating and had what I needed! She listens to your needs, and she stands behind what she says. She really cares about doing things the right way, which is evident in so many of her decisions. She met with us multiple times, responded to emails promptly, and made adjustments where we requested them. Trends are real professionals. We tried to go with experienced vendors whenever possible. Trends is a shining example of why it pays to go with an experienced group. The planning was great, but the execution was even better. They didn't miss a beat on the big day, providing all the food, staff, decorations, and more. We didn't have to lift a finger. The food is outstanding. We had wonderful passed hors d'oeuvres, a nuanced and delicious family style dinner, an absolute knockout dessert table (her famous Rocky Road brownies, wow). Even the drinks were special. We got married July 13, 2018 at the Vine Hill House in Sebastopol (highly recommend) and Susan catered our wedding. AMAZING food! We did family style with steak, salmon and assorted sides. We got so many compliments on the food, we were very happy! Presentation was gorgeous and food came out hot to every table! At the end of the night we took home a "picnic" dinner so we could have a late night snack after our wedding, bottle of wine included. This is the first Yelp review I have ever written, and the only reason I am writing it is it to share with everyone what a treasure Sue (the owner of Trends) is. My husband and I got married at the Vine Hill House in October 2010. Oh, how we wish we could live that day all over again! From the first time I talked to Sue on the phone, I had the best feeling about her. She was warm, friendly, had the best ideas. Her personality came through in everything, and her descriptions of food were tantalizing and creative. My husband's parents live out-of-state, and we wanted them to be a part of our wedding planning, so I scheduled the tastings for a weekend they would be here. The weekend my husband's parents came out, we headed up to Sebastopol. We had a tasting with another catering company on Saturday (a very reputable company), and our parents so impressed by the experience, they didn't know how it could be topped. The tasting at Trends (the next day) was so personal; I could tell everything was done with so much love. We sat down, and Sue made us feel right at home; It was so comfortable. Our parents still talk about the tasting and how much fun we had to this day! We laughed so much... and ate... I haven't even mentioned the food! From the mint lemonade served in mason jars, to the delicious wine, the flavorful appetizers, and the amazing chicken, pasta and veggies. We were so impressed. I will never forget when we got in the car to go home, my husband's dad turned to me from the front seat and said, "There's no comparison... that's your caterer." We couldn't stop talking about it! There was no competition... Trends was our caterer. The year prior to our wedding, I felt so relieved as Sue had everything taken care of... I knew the food was one thing I didn't have to worry about, or think about! Sue was such a joy to plan with, my mom and I had so much fun with her. The day of our wedding, I didn't get a chance to look outside until after I had put my dress on and had my makeup all done. It literally took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes to see how beautifully everything came together. Trends Catering (and especially Sue) are not just caterers, Sue is an ARTIST! The beauty she puts into making food, and the love that she puts into everything she does is amazing. (Just check out the pictures of the crudite table above... incredible!). My husband and I were SO impressed by how well Sue and her staff took care of us and our guests. The servers were following us with food and drink wherever we went, making sure we had enough to eat as we took pictures and mingled. I thought I would be too nervous to eat, but once I tasted the Thai quesadilla... oh my goodness! We wish we had the recipe to recreate the exquisite taste! It is honestly one of the best quesadillas I have ever eaten (and having lived in San Diego, I have had A LOT of quesadillas!). Not only was the food delicious, but it looked like art, served on a basket of woven cucumbers... so creative! When we sat down to our sweetheart table there were two plates brimming with food that looked too pretty to eat! The chicken was so moist, and the fig on top was delicious. We have heard of bride and grooms that are so busy talking, they never get to eat. We felt so lucky to have been able to share this delicious meal... our first meal as husband and wife! But what we were most amazed about (can it get any better?!?!), and what I still can't get over, is how Sue handled a fiasco we had with our cake. We had ordered a cake from a bakery in San Francisco, which was delivered when our wedding started. When it arrived, the cake (whipped cream frosting), appeared moldy and Sue's pastry chef said she would not serve it. Sue went out of her way to call local bakeries, until she found one an hour away that would accommodate the number of people we had. She personally drove to pick the cakes up, and THEN had her pastry chef decorate the cakes so they matched our wedding. The best part? Our guests (and my husband and I) had no idea anything was wrong, and my husband and I were only told about it once everything had already been handled. Now how is THAT for professionalism and going above and beyond?? The bottom-line of this review? Our wedding day was the best day of our lives... and Trends Catering (and especially Sue!) had a huge part in creating such a spectaculiar day for us. Sue was not just a caterer (or a vendor), but became a friend throughout the process. She created such beautiful memories for us! Susan and her team are the absolute best! They catered our recent June wedding. During our tasting she sat down with us, talked about the meal and made fabulous suggestions to go with the dishes we really enjoyed. She really got to know us as a couple and made us feel like a member of her family. We had a few bumps with picking out linens/glassware and Susan's ability to meet at our venue for our 3 month meeting due to weather (who knew it was going to flood right before these meetings and Susan got flooded into her home, but luckily the weather got rain out of its system before our actual wedding day). Despite this Susan was on the phone and made the bumps feel seamless! She takes amazing notes at every meeting and always comes prepared. She is responsive to emails and any changes that need to be made. And most importantly, her food is wonderful! read more

I can not begin to describe how much I love Trends Catering. I got married in Santa Rosa in October of 2009. The most important aspect of the wedding for me was the food and the wine. I chose Trends for several reasons. I pride myself in being a "foodie." I like sustainable and organic products. When we chose California for our wedding, I wanted local and sustainable California products. Susan at Trends told me that she could deliver this. This is reason number one. Reason number two was Susan herself. She is kind, outgoing, and willing to do whatever she can to make the food amazing. Boy, was it amazing! I wowed my guests with a cocktail hour fit for a king. We ate shrimp, spicy beef on wontons, tuna tartare, and had the most amazing meat and cheese station. Susan suggested so many special touches that made my wedding unique. Instead of having the traditional 'surf and turf', we had scallops and hangar steak. She was able to make vegetarian dishes for the vegetarians and scallops only for the non-meat eaters. We had an ice cream bar, which was for my husband. We even had a taco truck come at the end of the night and deliver tacos to my guests. It was the most special night ever and the food was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly and delivered as planned. AND, she packed us a to-go bag with wine, cake, and food for later because of course, I didn't eat that much at the wedding. She hand decorated the bag. I can't describe how thoughtful she is! I would pick Susan at Trends Catering because she is a "mom and pop" establishment. I like supporting small businesses and I like hands-on service. Susan and her staff are all hands-on. I would also pick her because her food is amazing. She uses locally grown and produced products, which was important to me. She puts thought into everything. She has professional staff and a fabulous chef, who decorates the plates perfectly. Everything is thoughtful, without being pretentious. I miss seeing Susan. She made my wedding so special. If I could do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing! read more

Susan and her team at Trends are exceptional. They catered our wedding at the Vine Hill House this past weekend and we could not have asked for a better experience. The food was out of this world--several guests said it was the best wedding meal they'd ever had. The tequila prawns, cheese table, Moroccan tarts, and tri-tip with fried shallots were standout hits! The service was extremely professional but equally warm and friendly. We never worried about a thing from the time they arrived; they even reset all the tables without a single complaint when we realized we'd forgotten to give them the burlap runners we'd made as they were doing the initial set-up. They also present their food beautifully and add in little decor elements like chalkboards listing out the apps that really elevate the experience. Trends truly helped make our wedding day beautiful, fun, and relaxing...and again, the food was DELICIOUS! Finally, I want to say a few things about Susan in particular. She is such a special person and she is the reason we chose Trends. She prepped beautiful and delicious food for our tasting, but even more than that, she spent a few hours with us getting to know who we are and helping us getting to know her. She is passionate about her company, food, and giving her clients the best possible experience (she is also a huge basketball fan!). Trends catering did our wedding at Trentadue Winery only a few weeks ago (April 10th) and what forced me to write this review is that my family is still talking about the amazing food, service and atmosphere Trends brought to our wedding. We are living in Oregon and finding vendors a state away was not easy! However, using Trends turned out to be one of the easiest and best decisions we made during the planning process. Not only did they bring amazing drinks (ginger-mint lemonade is amazing) (and we were at a winery for crying out loud!) but the food is something we are all still dreaming about. Food that I didn't know my family would eat, like polenta or Thai quesadillas (we are usually not adventurous) are things we wish we had gotten the recipes for. I come from a family of picky eaters, but there were no sad faces or complainers making snarky comments. Rather from diabetic grandparents to a gluten-sensitive groomswoman, the food couldn't have been any more perfect. My husband and I looked at every caterer on the required list and when we talked to Susan we knew immediately she was fun, outgoing, a good listener and overall everything we wanted in a vendor. We highly recommend using her, not only because of her amazing staff and food - but also, she got all of out rentals, is very reasonably priced for the area, and coordinated with our vendors every step of the way! read more

WHY CAN'T I GIVEN THEM MORE STARS???? We just hosted our daughter's wedding at Vine Hill House and Susan was our caterer. The food was AWESOME, the service was spot on. I NEVER had to worry about anything happening on time or being poorly presented. Prior to the wedding Susan was ALWAYS easy to reach and delightful to work with. This was in direct contrast to my LAST experience (when my son got married). We chose family style service and all the food came out on time, hot and correctly proportioned for each table. My husband and I chose Trends Catering to cater our wine country wedding after interviewing and tasting at a number of Sonoma County caterers including some of the "big name" catering companies. Susan, the owner of Trends, is absolutely a wonderful and geniune person to work with. She thought of literally EVERYTHING. Her chef is wonderful and creative, and her presentation is truly artwork. We had so many comments from our guests not only on the quality of food and the beautiful presentation, but also on how kind and helpful her staff was (like running to get soda water when one of our guests spilled red wine on her wrap). Our health club had an anniversary party last night and Trends Catering provided the food. The guacamole and chips were outstanding as were the quesadillas.
