I checked out Go Vegan while looking for a vegetarian/vegan spot, and with the great ratings, I had to give it a try. First off, service was great. Everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome. We ordered a few dishes to sample. The fried "fish" was a bit overcooked and came out pretty dry. I've had vegan fish before and this one didn't quite hit for me. We also tried the vegan chicken with lemongrass and chili, which had really good flavor, but it was a little too salty for our taste. The chow fun was the standout. I was in the area for plant bingo and decided to try this place out. It's in a strip mall that seems pretty abandoned so parking was easy. The seating is a bit low and quirky, but the service was super friendly and welcoming. My friend and I ordered Spring Rolls, Mango Salad, and Pad Thai to share. They brought out separate peanut sauce for each of us to enjoy with the spring rolls, which was a nice touch. The Mango Salad was my favorite bite of the day. It was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The Pad Thai was good but I don't think I would order it again. The portions were huge, so we had plenty of leftovers. The chrysanthemum tea was very refreshing! Wow! Very impressed with this mom and pop vegan spot that survived the pandemic. My hubz is vegan and is always looking for good plant-based eats so this was a real treat for him. The location is in a seemingly rundown abandoned plaza and but trust me the food is really good. Owners are very friendly, the menu is extensive, with decent-prices and so there's something for everyone. Ambiance inside is very/retro modern with space-saving red and black tables and chairs. We ordered a variety of food and highly recommend: -lemongrass chicken -Mongolian beef -Eggplant -Pad Thai -Thai fried rice Everything was freshly made and very flavorful. They even sell some of their vegan soy proteins and we got the chicken, beef and shrimp. I personally love the shrimp- super tender. I recently ordered some dishes for take-out & the food was ready quickly & still hot. I wanted to try some things I hadn't tried there before like: * Papaya salad - huge portion, great flavor! I've been going to Go Vegan for the last 8-9 years, and let me tell you, it is special. The owners remembered me even though I moved to LA. I keep coming back when I visit family. My go-to's are the kale salad, the drumsticks, bun bo hue (I think this is labeled a spicy lemongrass soup), the Korean sesame beef, their customer favored lemongrass chili chicken with vegetables, and the avocado smoothie (those of you who love sinh to bo). We stumbled upon this place when we took our car in to a workshop nearby. It just popped up on the map and seeing vegan, we absolutely had to go. It was also lunch time. My husband loves fake meat, and was he in for a treat! The map app took us from the back entrance and the strip mall is in tatters, it shows its long years of abuse and neglect. I'd also worry going there late at night, since it is Antioch and prone to crime. Bu the food was fabulous. The owner Nimm (sp?) and his wife, charming. The portions, generous. And, the price adjusted for inflation. Not complaining, just stating facts. We are glad we found a local place that serves up this very specific category of vegan pan-Asian fare. Keeping fingers crossed that the owners can move to a better location in the tri-city area, so they can get more foot traffic and recognition, and thrive. It's very good despite everything is vegan. I'm glad there's Asian vegan restaurant in Antioch. Mitigating my risk of a bad choice in real time, I saw on the Yelp app that this was a vegan spot close to Highway 4, and it had quite a high average rating of 4-1/2 stars. OK, things seemed promising, so I drove over to what looked like an abandoned mall. There were a couple of people waiting for their takeout orders when I arrived, and the number kept growing. I quickly ordered two items to keep my place in their queue. I LOVE vegetarian/vegan options sometimes more than the regular options, and their pad thai was just sooooo good with tofu. i love mine with hella sauce and peanuts. the dumplings in the wonton soup were a liittle too sweet for me, but it was yummy anyways with the cabbage and VERY hot/fresh broth. This is a Vietnamese restaurant where they have everything from pho to rice plates to desserts and nearly everything in-between. Their prices are alot cheaper than I expected for the amount of food you get. Make sure you come hungry, and even then you have a high chance of taking home leftovers. I will absolutely be back. I found this place on happy cow and am so glad I tried it! It doesn't look like a whole lot on the outside because of the vacant shopping center, but it's what's on the inside that counts! I've been vegan for 5 years and just this past year went gluten free because I realized it makes me so sick and usually have a hard time finding vegan & gluten free options, but not here. They truly have something for everyone. I asked an employee what they recommended for gf and he was very patient and helpful. I also got the avocado smoothie (per someone on here recommendation) and wow it was delicious and SO creamy. I barely put a dent in my main dish so you can definitely split a main dish with 2 maybe more ppl depending how much you eat- it'll easily last me 4-5 servings. I really appreciated that they had gluten free options for smoothies, appetizers, main dishes, and even desserts!
