I appreciated the effort, but the second steak was just as tough. It looked like a different cut, but it was still nearly impossible to chew. To their credit, they gave me a discount, which I appreciated. However, I still ended up paying for food I couldn't eat. I left hungry and had to go somewhere else for lunch after spending about 50 minutes there. The service was polite, but the quality of the meat was unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that promotes itself as one of the best.

There are certain items here that I would most definitely come back for and that has got to be the arroz con leche, plantains, and the carne asada. First off the arroz con leche was just the right amount of cinnamon sweetness and viscosity from the rice. A perfect hot drink for those cold days. The plantains were surprisingly much better than a lot of other places due to its crispy texture complimented with the creamy white sauce. Lastly the carne asada with rice and beans that my barber recommended. Usually when I order carne asada from a hole in the wall, they always overcook the steak even though I tell them medium rare, but not here! The steak was a perfect medium with a very prominent grilled char flavor. The rice had a yellow-ness to it and somewhat of a chicken flavor which was perfect with the beans. If you love spicy I'd definitely douse it with some of their green chili sauce. We tried other items on the menu as well but those did not stand out as much. I'd say the items I listed are the perfect pair of beverage, dessert, and entree. I definitely have to try their freshly baked breads next time cause the smell is just too tempting!
