The Go Chew truck did a special event for a Meetup Group I'm a part of, doing a special tasting 4 course menu all for $20 a person. I walked away very impressed with the truck. You can tell the chef has had ample culinary training as this is some of the best pan asian fusion I've had. It perfectly blended the essence of the different asian cuisines into well balanced and interesting entrees. THE ORDER First Course - 5 out of 5 - Fruit and Vegetable Salad. Deceptively simple but subtly complex. Slices of watermelon, mango, cucumbers, cilantro and strips of seaweed. The salad is kind of hard to describe what made it so tasty because I'm not entirely sure how it all worked. The fruits and veggies were all super fresh and there was a dollop of yogurt. I'm sure there was some kind of seasoning in there but it was subtle...but it all just show how worked. The strips of seaweed somehow brought it all together. The greens were kale (I believe), there were squares of daikon radishes, a topping of chicharon and another creamy side that I have no idea what it was. The mushroom here was the star. It was tender and flavorful and I just wish there was more of them in it. The chicharon was a really nice addition. The pork was AMAZING. It was tender and flavorful and clearly the star of the dish. The egg was a nice addition as it added a nice yolkiness when you broke it over the pork and noodles. I work on Olympic and Bundy and I would say on an average week I eat from roughly 4-7 trucks. Go Chew is BY FAR one of the most delicious things I've had, period. Top 3 for sure. I had a fried rice bowl with slow roasted pork that was cooked flawlessly and seasoned perfectly. It was mixed with some fresh broccoli and a carefully selected mixture of fresh herbs and then topped with a sunny side up egg. BAM! Seek this truck out immediately... seriously. read more

@gochewinc I can understand why people rave about this truck. The food is mighty good here AND it's cheap! AND the chef running it if cool to talk to. The food truck trifecta! I've tried the salad and the rice cakes. The salad, a meal in itself, had several things on it I couldn't identify and a tart vinegary dressing with a pile of meat on top. I thought it looked kind of busy at first but after a few bites I found this was not the case. Every ingredient worked and you got different flavor combinations in every bite. Very tasty. The rice cakes may be an acquired taste for some because of it's texture. But the extra spicy sauce definitely slapped me in the face hello! I do like spicy food! So if something with the rubbery texture of calamari and a spicy sauce doesn't scare you this will be a pleasant slap in the face! And the Graffiti paint job is pretty cool too! Happened upon this truck around midnight in the USC area, thinking it was another taco truck, and decided to give it a shot after being offered a sample of chicken, which was sooo good. (He also took a good few minutes cooking the sample from scratch, an act of dedication I wasn't expecting!) He was only serving tacos and sliders at that point, while I know that korean fusion street tacos are basically a trope now (I saw frozen "street tacos" at Costco), man, these pork and chicken tacos blew my mind a little. The pork was definitely not diet-friendly, but so worth it. Think fatty pork belly chunks on the bottom, pork, then a slew of delicious toppings (it was dark and I ate too fast to investigate, sorry guys) on crisped warm tortillas. It's a plus that he was willing to crank up the peppers; it burns so good. Charles has an impressive resume of fancy pants restaurants he's worked at, and is starting this "pop-up" food truck for 6 months for personal reasons. His experience in kitchen shines through in the sophistication of his cooking and the depth of flavors-- this is good food period, not just good for a food truck. So definitely give this place a try while it's still around. I'll certainly be back to try those rice bowls and tamales! P.S. He didn't seem totally sold on the idea of a set menu and willing to explore. Would probably be easy to convince him to whip you up something special if it's not a busy day. :) read more

I've never had a tamale before in my life, let alone one with an asian twist, so at first I was a bit wary to try it out. BUT GOOD LORD, these things are a flavorful yummy orgasm (take that as you will). I am making these things a staple in my food rotation. And since they are so cheap, why not? OMG! I had some of these tamales, they are CRAZY DELICIOUS!!!!! It's Asian fusion! I have tried the Korean which is braised pork and kimchi. The tamale dough (masa) has a hint of spiciness which I believe is mixed into the dough. I have also tried the Beefy Chinese which is absolutely delicious. Ran into this truck at the corner of Palms and Sepulveda today after having already ordered a sushi burrito from Jogasaki. The chef, Charles, was super nice and offered me a free sample of their chicken and pork. Both were delicious, so much so that I ordered a chicken bowl. It was so tasty, great jidori chicken over Korean fried rice for $6!! Hope I can track down this truck again really soon, because after one visit it's right near the top of all the food trucks I've tried. The truck doesn't look like much on the outside, but it's clear that Charles puts his focus on the food! Definitely check this truck out! read more

Go Chew came to my office building for the first time yesterday. After checking out the Yelp reviews, I decided that I had to give it a try. The owner was the only one running the truck so he was really busy cooking and taking orders. I got the pork bowl and I told him that I wasn't interested in the broccoli so he gave me a bit of extra pork. Honestly, before I took my first bite, I thought I was going to give it 3 stars. I had some issues with the small menu (pretty much only bowls available) and sanitation (same hand touching food and money without washing in between). However, I have to say that the pork was really delicious and the juices flowed down to make the rice extra flavorful. I really did enjoy the bowl. A couple of suggestions though: 1) Garnish should be edible. I love cilantro but the way it is presented (entire stems of it) is not easy to eat. It would be better chopped up or at least taken off the stem. 2) The pork came in large pieces and needed to be cut. It would have been helpful to be given a knife. read more

More vital than a "good dining experience" is "really great eating that is in itself a form of living large" and that's why Go Chew blows away 80% of the high concept L.A. Restaurants -- good as they are. The first time I walked up to the truck, I asked the owner for his recommendation and he said without hesitation "Pork Bowl". I had already been told that he buys fresh each morning and builds his menu around what was available that day. Iron Chef ingredients (Food Network TV show) comes to mind. Anyway, I tried the pork bowl and was immediately amazed by the complex orchestration of flavors, each distinct, each nuanced, each synchronized with the others. This was a real run through the jungle with an exotic array of leafy greens and stalks and buds, all individually seasoned. I felt like I was in a Ray Bradbury short story where a regular guy eats mystical food. It was that that good! So two days later Go Chew is back and I tell the owner/chef that the pork bowl was insane and what should I try today and without hesitation is says, "pork bowl, it's different today". And it was, like a different Mozart piece, but still by Mozart. Bottom line: there are not a lot of opportunities that immediately present themselves to your convenience, over the period of lunch hour, to live on a high plane of existence. You may not be what you eat, but you are what you do. Go Chew. read more

What a mess. Go Chew was planned to stop by my office building and I was excited to check it out because of the rave reviews on Yelp. It must have been an off day for this truck because everything from the food to service was interesting, to say the least. I really did want to like this truck...I like to support my fellow Koreans! First of all, Charles (the owner, I believe), was the only one manning the operation...so he was the chef, cashier, prep cook, etc. So he was handling money while he was cooking....eeek! After waiting about 10 minutes before he acknowledged us, a line formed of about 10 people. He ran out of pretty much everything by the time he took our order and it was only 1:00 p.m. (he was scheduled to stay there till 2:00 p.m.). Fortunately, I received the last order of the Braised Pork Bowl ($8)...which included cellophane noodles, cilantro, and a fried egg. He even ran out of Kimchi! Major fail for a Korean food truck. When I order food from a food truck, I expect a quick meal..however, on this day, I believe we waited for at least 30 minutes for our food. Granted, Charles was the only one making the food, he should have known that coming to a Century City office building would probably produce more than a few customers. On a positive note, I think the pork had really great flavors and believe that this truck has potential. The bowl that I had, definitely was missing the kimchi and was really soupy. The egg was perfectly cooked with crispy edges and a raw yolk. Once there is organization and preparation, I think this truck could do really well. One star for the pork and another star for the catchy name. read more

This is for Delivery. Not so good.... The Tempura (mixed) had french fries and onion wrings included.... like left over ..... weird. The chicken teriyaki was dark meat. The House Ramen was meh. So many better options like Soy and Mikyoshi. Will not order again. :( read more

Stumbled upon Go Chew the other night in Eagle Rock. The menu was extremely unique which means I didn't know what to order. So I just asked Chef to "blow my mind", and I got hooked up tiger style.
