We used to get late night tacos here for more than 10 years. Few days ago, we came here around 11pm to get some tacos after drinks. First of all, the lady getting orders was not too friendly. Maybe she was tired. Second, they don't make their own tortilla, which they used to. And hot sauce was an ass burner the next morning. Anyway, it wasn't a good experience. A lot has changed since I last went to this truck. From what I see in the reviews, they have changed some of their long-time good ways. A shame they don't make the tortillas anymore and charge for all the sauces. Anyway, this is a very dated review that I insist on communicating to the world about. The mafia of yelp decided to take the original review down from 2018, because they just do that randomly, I believe. But I have slightly altered my original review, so the snowflakes don't melt with some of the words I used. I will rewrite it in past-tense since my review was from pre-covid-19 days. The women who worked there when I went were awesome. The sidewalk needed a good scrub down for sure, but the food was great. It was on 3rd street going West at Normandie Ave. I believe it is still in the same location. It wasn't too hard to find, as they've had blinking lights on the top of the truck. It was more like a trailer than an actual truck. I gave a 4-star because the neighborhood is dirty and the truly P.O.S. MX-ican-street-bums who tried to pick up on the women waiting for a burrito was really such a hazard. Why you gotta always ruin it, dude? Don't look at her, don't speak to her, stay away from her. She does not want to engage with you and you have no chance--ever. Wish anything you want inside your bird-brain, but stop your squawking and gawking. This is why humans can't have nice things, and this is why we have laws. Because knuckleheads like the ones hanging around on the brickwall can't control yourselves. So not really the truck's fault but it really is the most distressing thing to deal with. My burrito was $5 at that time. Bottle of coke $2 at that time. Tip $1 at the time. Cash only at that time. Could tell the stand was family-owned and operated, and they were all super nice to my friends and me even though it was super late at night. $2 / taco and they came with all the right toppings. I got here right as they were opening. I think I was a little early actually, but they said 5-10 minutes and they would help me out. The girl working the window was friendly. Idk if it's just because I was the first customer of the day or what, but the food was really, really fresh and delicious. I got a carnitas burrito with everything and the carnitas was perfect (just cooked to crisp the sides). I got red and green salsa and the girl working said "be careful with the red, it might be hot for you" and I laughed and said "oh it's okay" and I got excited because I thought their salsas might be spicy, but they're not at all even a little bit. I'm not going to make this review fancy; I think if you give this taco truck a shot, the food will speak for itself. $1.25 for a taco? Great price to pay to get through the gates to taco heaven. Corn tortillas from scratch (you can see the woman making it from the window), awesome salsa bar so you can take as much as you want, and great flavors from the meat to the spices! I've tried their carne asada, carnitas, and tacos al pastor (shepherd-style tacos). Incase you're unfamiliar with this type of taco, it's made with thin pork steaks seasoned with adobada seasonings, skewered, and overlapped on one another, rotisserie cooked, and flame broiled. Delicious, I say! I generally pass by the La Tehuana truck at night while they're parked on 3rd and Normandie. Taco truck in Koreatown, right on 3rd street. They make corn tortillas from scratch in front of your EYES. The only downfall is that no one speaks english... It's only an issue because I don't know a word of spanish. They have things written in spanish so my boyfriend and I just ordered 4 tacos using horrible pronunciation and google translator... It doesn't just incinerate your palate, although it does have a bite. There's the other standard fare, such as radishes, onions, cilantro, green salsa, and etc. It's usually parked on the northwest corner, of 6th and Normandie. These tacos are so freaking good and I have been to a lot of taco places even the taco truck across the street from this one. I order 8 tacos because I thought they were going to be small like in other places, where you can finish the taco in 2 bites and they are like 1.35. These tacos are 1.25 and they are big compare to the usual ones. Another thing I liked was that they make their own tortillas you can see them being made. I was one able to finish 5 and u gave the rest to by parents and they loved them usually they are picky about their tacos lol and we are salvadorans lol. I do not usually evaluate but this time I would like to do it to help other people because it is about food, a few days ago I went to eat with my friends at a lunch truck called La Tehuana and I had a very bad experience, while I waited for my food was Looking through the window because I had never vicited a place of those and I got the attention how they work there, but I realized that the place is a little dirty and suddenly I see a cockroach going down the refrigerator door and the cook guy discreetly crushed it with his finger and continued working normal without even washing his hands, I told my friends that I no longer wanted my food and asked me, wy? And when I told them what I had seen, they could not believe it, they already were eating so they could not do anything, they just stopped eating and we left.
