What a fun place to find; we we're looking for fish and chips and ended up here by accident. Of course get the fish. Also good choices are clams, Caesar Salad, and chicken nuggets (tenders) for the kids. Decaf was strong like European coffee. Loved the decor plates and they sat 10 of us no problem. I ate here with my mother and in a roundabout way, everything here turned out nicely! We both ordered simply entrees, I the fish and chips, and she got a chicken sandwich (which also came with chips). The price is incredibly reasonable along with the portion. Big fish and big sandwich! I asked what fish they use and the server (cute, friendly, and knowledgeable server by the way) quickly responded with, Alaskan Pollock. Good fish. Meaty, flaky, and works real well for fish and chips. The batter and chips were a bit on the salty side, but I liked it regardless. The chicken looked good too. I especially liked that it was plated in the authentic British way, on a newspaper! That adds bonus points to an already good review. I would like to come back here and try another entree! read more

My family are big fish and chips lovers. My dad worked for Ye Old English up in Providence, Rhode Island 60-70 years ago. Go Brit is SOLID. The fish was hot and the battery tasty. THE BEST fish and chips at the beach. Always freshly fried, light, crispy, and delicious, and nicely portioned. I also really like their tartar sauce because it isn't sweet, just tangy. My daughter declared the Caesar salad "the most delicious" one she had at the beach (she loves Caesar salad and had one every day during the 5 days we were there). The Mini Cooper inside the restaurant is super fun and cool. My daughter loved looking at it. Service is always fast and friendly here. This is a must go to place for lunch if you're at the beach. It's close to the outlets and a good way to decompress after shopping. The key lime pie and sticky toffee pudding were also fabulous. If you like the British "mushy peas", they do a great version here. read more

beer battered fish ( 2 pieces) sandwich and served with slaw for $6.00 ( 11 a.m. to 4 pm. ) , with lemon wedge and tartar , on "Friday Fish special" either at the Rehoboth or Lewes location. Normally the fish sandwich would be $10.95 ! The flaky cod fish was cooked perfect which was crispy and golden . Chips are a la carte $4.95! The portion was so large that I didn't miss the chips! I removed the bread. You don't have to eat in to get the special. They do offer beer and wine if you want to eat in. Great Chippy! read more

We stopped here for lunch while outlet shopping. I've wanted to eat here for 6 years but had no idea it was a fast food place. Not what I had in mind but it was pretty good. I've been to the UK 5 times in the past 3 years, and sampled all kinds of fish and chips. This vaguely resembles British-style fish and chips. Go Brit serves pollock and only pollock because it is more sustainable. In the UK, you can find cod, haddock and plaice in most chip shops. (And doner kebabs!) I can tell from the texture of the fish that it's frozen and not fresh. The fish is too wet and almost mushy in the finished product. The batter is spot on - crispy and has a traditional flavor that I know of British fish & chips. The "chips" are not cut thick enough and they are fried to a deep golden brown. They are delicious, but they are not British-style which are lightly golden and chunkier. To me, the British style chips pair better with malt vinegar. The flaked salt is a nice touch. Of course, there is malt vinegar on the table. The menu has a lot of British-type offerings like batter-fried sausages and shepherd-style meat or fish pies (mash on top; not the wheat crust pastry style meat or fish pies). The menu really does take some creative liberties to appeal to American palates. Personally, I came for the fish. Since I found it disappointing, it is unlikely that will visit Go Brit in the future. P.S. - offer some bread & butter so patrons can make a chip butty! read more

Wow, great place for fish and chips. You get one long fish and a BUNCH of chips. The fish was flakey and the fried part was so crispy. However, I was eating it with a fork and knife and the fish kept falling out of the skin. Almost like I had to eat it separately. My boyfriend decided to just eat it together to keep the fish and skin intact. The chips, on the other hand, were soft and not crispy. :( read more

Been eating here for a decade. Not fancy but 1,000% English from the fish&chips to mushy peas. The Shepherd's pie (which is actually cottage pie since it's made with beef, not lamb or mutton) is excellent. So is the service! read more

Went here for lunch with my husband. I was really craving some fresh fish with malt vinegar. The food arrived quickly the dining room was clean but the food was awful. I was second-guessing myself if I was sick because I couldn't taste anything. I piled on the salt, malt vinegar and lemon juice and there was still no flavor. We won't be back. read more

Go Brit! has the best fish and chips I've ever had. This location was across the street from our hotel. We came to get away from the city. The establishment is very clean and the customer service was great. We ordered the fish and chips and dined in. When you enter the establishment, you pay for your meal first and then take a seat to have your meal delivered to your table. The tables are very clean and condiments are full. The food came out piping hot! I love when food is cooked when ordered. The fish serving is HUGE and filling. I would definitely recommend! read more

A gem of a restaurant for British food lovers. The fish and chips are in a class by themselves for portion size and taste. Order the tandoori mushy peas as a side, great complement. Great selection of English beers, and don't miss the homemade Shepherds pie and sticky toffee pudding (all made in house). Much more parking and convenient location than the Rehoboth Beach restaurant and ask for Madison as your server as she can help you navigate the menu choices and get you your food without a wait. After trying the Fish & Chips at Rehoboth, and almost swerved off the road when I saw this location - and wondered, the same? IT IS! You walk in and receive the info that the Mini Cooper is NOT for sale - the same decor exists and welcomes you in. Within less than 10 minutes we received our meal and I ordered a double order of fish, chips,(the original) and the potato soup - it was D E L I C I O U S - it was amazing. The welcome was great, it was a perfect stop for the first snow on the eastern shore, and hit the spot perfectly. Right off of Rt. 1 heading south before you hit all of the outlets, lies a little 'pub' called go Brit! I'm not a huge fish & chips guy, but I did like what Go Brit! had to offer. For $11 you can get a huge piece of beer battered fish on top of a bed of thick cut fries. Not the healthiest thing to eat, but you should have known that before entering the restaurant. The fries use a very coarse sea salt for flavoring and each table has a bottle of malt vinegar to add kick to your fries. From the time I walked in until about midway through our visit, every song on the speaker was an old British Invasion tune. While genres did change eventually, all the music is what I would classify as true Oldies (50's and 60's) with a heavy emphasis on British artist. You may not like the music, but I actually grew up listening to it. The whole restaurant is operated by 3-4 people. One person handles the counter, one brings food to your table, one fries up the food. You are asked politely (through their napkin dispensers) to dispose of your own food. I don't think anyone minds terribly. Overall good experience. Would go there again when in the area and want deep fried goodies. read more

Ate here for the 2nd time on our weeklong trip at Dewey Beach. Picked up some fish and chips and clam strips on the way home and it hit the spot. We ate here twice in one week which tells you how much we liked it. The crispy outerlayer of the fish is unparalleled. It's weird how they even got it to be so fluffy / crispy. Clam strips and fries all tasted wonderful as expected. Staff were friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

My friend had the fish and chips that were awesome! Very fresh fish battered nicely. I got the Shepherds Pie. The gal warned me it would be ground beef which was fine for me but the amount of salt in the beef mixture was crazy! I'm a salt person so I had my friend taste it to tell me what the seasoning was. I was shocked when we realized it was the salt. Too bad. Otherwise, nice clean shop with nice Brit decor. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Alison B.

Alison Blyth's passion for food runs in her blood. She grew up surrounded by people who loved to cook, including her mother, a professional baker, and her brother, a trained chef. Blyth, who moved from England to the States in 1980, gained experience in Washington, D.C., restaurants. In 1988, she opened the popular La La Land in Rehoboth Beach, followed in 1997 by Yum Yum, a Pan-Asian bistro. In 2002, she opened go fish!, a fish-and-chips takeout shop. It was so wildly popular that she transformed the business into a 40-seat restaurant. Blyth isn't about to rest on her chips. She has plenty of ideas--and the determination to make them a reality.

I would suggest they get the blinds fixed. The service was excellent. They did a great job with everyone and keeping our drinks filled. I had the crab cake sandwich and it was delicious. Everyone seemed happy with the service and their meals so I would recommend giving this place a try.

I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood. Every town needs a neighborhood gathering spot like Striper Bites.

The food here is remarkably good at a reasonable price. It is not quite southern barbecue, but the food is tasty and enjoyable. Some of their dishes are quite creative, like their mac n cheese skillet with kielbasa and pulled pork. In my opinion, barbecue restaurants should have a room in the back for naps, because that is what you will be doing after you eat here. It does get a bit loud here with the live entertainment, and parking can be hard to find on weekends, but that is understood. Better than an empty lot and walking out on an empty stomach.

My friend had asked for a high chair and the high chair arrived beyond disgusting. We were all grossed out by the state of the high chair and our table - no one wiped it clean or did anything. The waitress, Becky came over and asked if we're ready to order, meanwhile she saw our entire party wiping the tables and high chair and never once offered to clean it. Very disappointing experience - wished I didn't pick this place and wasted a meal here for the sake of wanting to bring my dogs to a place where I thought would be a great place for them.
