Craving a good Korean meal, my sister and I came here to have some lunch after getting our nails done at a local shop. While we usually head to the popular area of Palisades Park when craving Korean food, this seemed like a decent option for the northern area we were in. Upon arrival you seem some funky things like italian style decor, checkered table cloths, and a kind of disjoined dining room area. We were seated quickly and served our banchan which I thought was a good selection of vegetables and other commonly mixed side dishes. Service was prompt and throughout our meal we were served by a few different wait staff that cohesively worked together. We order two different dishes (one combo) and one soup and both were very underwhelming. Our pork ribs were overly sweet and lacked that marinated flavor and our soups were not what we were expecting. The jamjatang tasted very bland and wasn't the typical Korean potato soup you expect which is more like a stew, with potatoes, and pork bones. This place seems like it would be more suited for an older crowd that is not looking for salty soups and have limited access to other Korean food options. Given the price of the soups and combos around $15-$18 we were pretty disappointed and agreed we probably would not be back. read more

Stopped in after a major craving for Korean BBQ. With the all the COVID-19 restrictions in NY, we were really limited on choice and decided to give Go Ba Woo a shot. I tend to gauge Korean restaurants on their kimchi and it somewhat missed the mark, but I stayed optimistic for the pork belly and marinated beef short ribs. I asked to be placed in better location but instead she stuck us in a dark area in a corner. It took 30 minutes to get our orders taken because she was Infineon us. Not a good place very rude staff. The staff member after my guest left came to my car demanding for more tip. I have never seen ever in my life a employee from an establishment follow a customer to there car demanding more tip. As a person that has always given a measurable tip based on performance and the food quality I was appalled. I was so angry that night I called the next morning and ask to speak to manager quickly and they hung up the phone several times when I called back. I busted the establishment again and I spoke the exact waiter and request to speak to manager and she told me to leave or else she call the police. To add additional insult the good was lacking in flavor and the attention to detail was disappointing for Korean cuisine. This was suppose to be a good experience for a celebration for my guest but it turned to a nightmare. Horrible :( I will never walk into this establishment again. Decent Korean BBQ being that there are not many other options to choose from within the area. We had just come back from the city and were starving for some korean food. Go Ba Woo definitely meets my expectations but I wasn't exceedingly impressed. The service was top notch and you could tell they were doing all that they could to keep us happy. One of the ladies BBQed all of our meat until every last piece was cooked. A bus boy made sure all of our waters were filled and another guy just kept bringing us our food. The marinade for the meat was decent. Not full of flavor or as sweet as what I am accustomed to but it definitely wasn't bland. I guess it could've used some more time in the marinade. The cuts were very thick and the quality was good as there were barely any remnants of fat. You get an assortment of banchan as well as the traditional steamed egg and soybean paste soup. The steamed egg needed a smidgen of salt. Without salt, it tasted like runny water. I got the kimchi jigae only because I like to order that whenever I eat at a Korean restaurant. While the portions were great, the soup just didn't do it for me. It lacked in flavor and made up for it in saltyness. I couldn't even finish it because I had ran out of rice. All in all this place will do the trick but with minor improvements, this place has the potential to be a lot better. read more

Boo Boo took me here for Linner. We decided to come here because Spring restaurant is dead to us. I think Spring changed cooks or something. They gave us hot tea once we got seated which was nice because it was obnoxiously cold outside. We shared the kimchi pancake and we also ordered the grilled fish and sundubu combo and I got the 'peasant' beef stew. The banchan that came with our meal was just ok. Nothing really stood out. My stew meat comprised mostly of tough tendony meat pieces. It tasted good but I couldn't chew the meat. Overall there was plenty of food for 3 people. We didn't sit at a bbq table since we didn't get BBQ. I really enjoyed the food food since it wasn't laced with MSG or oily. I would try the BBQ next time. It's no secret how much I love Korean food and this place definitely delivers! I came with one of my co-workers as our last lunch for 2017 and we came hungry and left absolutely stuffed! They have a lunch menu which includes a wide range of items. Of course I ordered the Pork Galbi Set which was their Marinated and Grilled Pork Ribs with the option of white or brown rice and she got the Bim Bam Bap in the Hot Stone Pot. Both came with Miso Soup and 4 complimentary starters. If you never tried a Hot Stone meal, give it a try! The food comes out sizzling and the bottom usually has a bit of hard rice which I call Con Con. Really good stuff! I devoured my meal and she took some of hers home as leftovers. And if you love spicy food, definitely ask for their Spicy Sauce (Bi Bim Paf). It gives whatever you ordered such a flavorful and yummy kick! The waitress is also really good and great at pushing you to try new things! Their complimentary starters always vary from the times I have eaten here and this time it was sauteed peanuts. Superb bbq, unlimited banchan, super friendly and attentive service, and good atmosphere. Kalbi, bulgogi, duck, and chicken consistently good (haven't tried the pork). The staff is really helpful in guiding you if you have questions about ordering or how to eat anything. They cook the food right at your table. Quietly tucked away on the border of Bergen county and NY state, go ba woo is one of the better korean bbq joints in my opinion. It's a fairly small restaurant, with only a handful of bbq stations and the rest just regular tables. Decor didnt really catch my eye right away, there was nothing too special about it. They do have a full bar but really nowhere to sit at the bar, but you can drink at your table. Their prices for korean bbq wasn't outrageous, considering its technically NY. Ranges from 25-40 dollars depending on what kind of meat you get. Even though the price sounds steep, it comes with all the little side dishes (banchan), rice, soup, and the service of having your meat cooked in front of you. My family and I ordered 4 servings of the duck, unmarinated. I was skeptical at first because I've never had good duck meat, but man, this was so good. Duck meat was fatty just enough to give it flavor and very soft. Our server was battling the blasts of fire from the grill to cook it for us, but she did an amazing job despite all the grease splattering. Wrap the duck in the unlimited lettuce and scallions with some bean paste and you're good to go. This place really set the standard for duck meat now and Im gonna have to order it more often. We ate here years ago (maybe 10?) for the BBQ, and tried them again this past weekend. The food here is fine, but that's about it. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's also not something I'd crave. We went here since we (and our toddler) were starving, and the Korean restaurant we intended to go to was closed, as was another Korean restaurant in Closter that we had been to before and really enjoyed. The banchan was fine, and my stir-fried octopus was decent, though swimming in chili paste and a bit chewy. The water seems to have sesame oil added to it for some reason. Getting our check took forever, and there were several flies in the window by our table. With much better Korean options in the area, I wouldn't return. The food isn't bad, just mediocre. I've been literally coming to this spot since I was a child. One thing I love about the place is the abundance of side dishes that carves out a well balanced meal when eating meat. Today, we got bean sprouts, potato salad, lettuce, eggs, and other traditional korean side dishes. It's unlimited so you can keep eating it and it'll be replaced with no cost. When ordering meat, you always get a complimentary bean paste soup that has just a kick to it. It is a nice way to eat with every piece of meat. We ordered the kalbi and it was about 27$ per order. My family of 4 ate 4 orders and it was just enough. The service is very quick and there's a family style vibe to the place. There's also a TV where we can watch sports. Definitely hits the spot. Probably the only Korean restaurant in this town who has the best JangTuhGookBop. Now if you don't know what this is and if you have not eaten this type of food then you will not appreciate what I'm about the describe here. There other food items are pretty on par with other Korean restaurant. It's good. Jangtuhgookgop is literally translated as "Market Place Soup with Rice". It has beef brisket, bean sprouts, minced garlic, lot of miso, red pepper flakes with lettuce. It is boiled and made into a stew like soup filled with flavor that comes from the meat and the miso. I did try their Pork Kalbi (this is not the pork belly BBQ) but it was dry and overcooked. The lettuce leaves were so big and tough. It's weird and they should replace it with something smaller and less bitter. Their Octopus Stir Fry was not well prepared. I was a bit disappointed with the quality. It has no flavor and just felt like they made it in a hurry without paying attention to the required seasoning. But I shall return for JangTuhGookBOP! BAM! read more
