Small, cozy nangmyun restaurant, tucked away in a quiet, unassuming plaza. My friends recommended this spot, and if you didn't know about it, you'd easily miss it! This restaurant specializes in Korean "nangmyun" cold noodle dishes, which are thin, chewy, addicting sweet potato flour noodles served with your choice of either cold beef broth or their spicy house sauce. I chose the SaeKi Mi Nangmyun (served with skatefish and boiled beef slices) and loved it. I actually found the amount of noodles in the bowl deceiving! I ordered the regular serving size, and although it didn't look like a ton at first, it filled me up quickly and was more than enough. We also received complimentary hot beef broth for the table, and it was deliciously warming on a chilly day. Staff was also so sweet and friendly. Can't wait to return when the weather warms up and enjoy more of these refreshing cold noodles.

A neighborhood gem near Closter downtown that offers Naengmyeon and other traditional Korean dishes. The cold noodles are their specialty and you should definitely try those first. They are delicious, refreshing, and perfect on a hot summer day. They come in a traditional beef broth or a house made spicy broth. For toppings you can get sliced beef or marinated skatefish. You really can't go wrong with any combination. They're all really good. I've tried their other offerings as well. They're good, but the Naengmyeon is the highlight of this restaurant.

This restaurant has gotten worse. The service is absolutely terrible. A party of 4 was seated after us about 5 minutes after we sat down, and the waitress served them first before us. The food took forever to come out for two noodle dishes (Mool Nangmyun). In Korean restaurants it's customary for them to bring out small dishes of food (banchan) and they used to do that here but I had to specifically ask for it. I ordered the double size and my girlfriend ordered the normal size noodle, and we couldn't tell the difference. Double size costs over $20 under the new updated menu yet it looks like a regular sized dish! I should have taken a picture of the updated menu. They jacked up the price by over 25% across the board.

This is a full size soup. This was not opened, touched, or photoshopped. This is not full or anywhere near. Your eyes are not tricking you.

New ownership since earlier this year 2023. Friendly gentleman mans the desk. Place is still very popular. The food formula has clearly changed. It is missing that unique homemade flavor now. Nangmyun tastes straight out of an instant package from HMart. Portions are large. NO BANCHAN for takeout orders. Well, one small container of potatoes and nothing else. PRICES HAVE INCREASED. Two large orders of noodles cost $56!!!! What world is Nangmyun $56??? This was once a nice home cooked place for noodles. Now, it's alright. I'll look elsewhere.

This is the best nangmyun i've had. The noodled are made in-house and the staff was very curteous. Noodles are also perfectly al dente which is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. I cannot stress that enough. In terms of flavor, the spicy sauce is sweet, while packing a ton of umami flavor and goes brilliantly with the sides that they offer. Definitely a much-try if you are in the mood for cold korean noodles. They also serve cups of beef broth which is basically like a warm hug on a cooler day, maybe not the best for the summer! Cheers!

Yes, they used to have the best naeng-myun that I even convinced my friends from Boston to come try this. However, so sad that the legacy has ended. I have been living in Closter for 13 years, and this has been one of my family's favorite spots for a decade. There have been a couple of owner/management changes, but the flavor has been steady. However, the most recent change is not acceptable. They raised the price quite steeply (I understand that due to inflation this is the case for most restaurants, so as long as the taste is the same, no one would complain). But the quality and taste has drastically changed for the worse, which is the main issue. I live 5 minutes from this place and ordered for pick up, and my family is upset that we just wasted $60 for three staple dishes. Their bibim naeng-myun is so sadly dry that they are stuck together, and most disappointingly, their dumplings in mandoo-soup which used to be a different shape (round, firm) is now a different kind and the stuffing inside has a weird chemical smell that is off-putting and making it inedible. They used to handmade the stuffing and it was so delicious, but (see pic 1) the stuffing looks and tastes totally different as if they are not from the same place. The last time, we dined in and the taste was also not as it used to be and we were worried that the recipe or the chef might have changed, but we gave another shot. But today's awful dumpling soup that doesn't resemble anything it used to be, and the pathetically dry bibim naeng-myun just confirmed that they are not the same anymore. Even the side dishes are different and lack the taste. We hope the old recipe returns someday, but with how they're doing right now we won't be returning. So sad and disappointing that they are like this.

One of the restaurants in NJ that is worth waiting in line for. Its Raw Fish Nangmyun reminds me of Ojangdong Nangmyun in Seoul, Korea. Searching for similar tastes in Tristate area, I have not found a better one than this. In winter, don't forget to try Beef Bone Stew. Surprisingly, cabbages and beef bones are the only main ingredients, without peppers or MSG which you often see in gamja tang elsewhere. I would call it an 'invigorating' cozy dish of winter.

Expensive for nhyengmyun, but one of the better bibim nhyengmyun ive had. First, let me start by saying you can pass on the mandu- its okay, but honestly nothing special. For $17 goki nhyengmyun, there is not much meat. The sauce was pretty flavorful and I do think it was good. However, this is pretty pricey for noodles, but if you love nhyengmyun and are willing to pay this much, I'd recommend you try it!

This is the best Korean noodle spot in the NJ/NY area!! They make thin and chewy homemade noodles that do not even compare to the store bought or any other restaurant. I ordered my usual-- Saekimi Nangmyun. There is not enough praise I could give this bowl of special noodles. They give you tons of meat and the most tender spicy fermented skate with cucumbers, pickled radish, and pear. The sauce is the champion of the dish but definitely wouldn't shine as bright without all the necessary add-ins. The beef broth given on the side in a thermal canister is one of the most delicious umami flavors I have ever had, you can not stop sipping it from the cup. The SooYuk is also delicious but unfortunately, they run out sometimes. The banchans are always on par, can't ask for better. It's a small mom and pop type restaurant with great service. Everyone is so respectful and friendly. It gets crazy busy with a long line throughout the summer months so be careful on timing your visit.

One of the restaurants I visit everytime I am at NJ or NY. The hot yuksoo they give when you are seated is really delicious. Except Mandoo, I liked everything on their menu. Don't put any vinegar or mustard on these cold noodles. Just try as served, you will be addicted in no time. Yummmmmmmm

The dining space looked nice, there were some decorations for the festive season as well. The menu had starters, side dishes, noodles, and of course the K-BBQ, both individual and sets. We ordered a first set that came with 5 different meats including pork belly, prime ribs and steaks. The meat tasted good and they were cooked fine in the grill by the staff member. We also had free side items like cucumber, kimchi, macaroni, mixed greens and rice. We ordered few additional items like edamame, seafood pancake, beef dumplings and japchae. Everyone loved the thin noodles of japchae. Edamame and dumplings were fine. I didn't like the pancake as it had a very dense and bland tasting dough. Overall our dining experience was decent. Our server handles the grilled fine, efficiently cooked all the meat items and spread them on two sides of the tables. She also kept refilling the side items as needed.

Formerly known as Sambong as recently as 8-9 months ago when they first opened, menu-wise they've stayed fairly consistent, specializing in naengmyun (cold noodles in a chilled broth), with some stews and bbq grilled items too. On a cold winter Sunday afternoon we placed our orders around 12:40 and it was ready for pick up at 1:15pm. We ordered: - 물냉면 + 목살구이 Mul Naengmyun Cold Noodle + Pork Neck BBQ $24.99: the thin noodles are super bouncy and chewy, excellent take on a summer classic! Soup and toppings hit the spot, a couple slices of beef and Asian pear, thinly slice cucumbers and pickled radish, plus half an egg. The extra side of bbq pork cheek was marinated and grilled to tender perfection. - 소고기 국밥 Spicy Guk Bap $17.99: lightly spicy beef broth with bean sprouts, scallions, and pieces of beef, served over rice. Warm and hearty Korean comfort food on a cold day. - 사골우거지된창국 Sagol Ugeoji Doenjang Guk with Rice $18.99: this beef bone broth is seasoned with fermented bean paste, a flavor somewhat similar to miso with plenty of rehydrated dried napa cabbage. A rich flavor and great over the white rice that came with it. - 돈까스 Donkatsu $19.99 and LA갈비 LA Galbi BBQ $36.99: my friends ordered these items to share with their kids. I didn't try them though they appeared to enjoy. - banchan (side dishes): about 5 or 6 small containers came with the entrees, consisting of regular napa kimchi, a couple different radish kimchis, fish cakes. The chilled kimchi was fermented goodness and went well with the hot broths, soup and rice. Would recommend!

Once your order is ready your number is called and you pick up your tray of food. There is signage in the restaurant indicating that they are self-serve and that you shouldn't tip. My girlfriend and I ordered beef soup and a seafood pancake. The food was prepared fairly quickly and they called our number to pick up the food from the counter. The seafood pancake was pretty good. Very flavorful but I felt like it was thicker and more doughy than I prefer. I would probably skip this for the next visit. The beef soup was delicious as well. It was just the right temperature and it was salty and savory enough without being overwhelming. We went on a particularly cold day so the hot soup really hit the spot. The pieces of beef in the soup were super tender too. Continuing the self-service theme there was a water dispenser and there was even a dispenser of broth at the pick up counter. I liked that broth even more than the broth in the beef soup. I slurped up several cups of it. I'd certainly come back.
