Hey y'all! Finally sitting down and writing a review since I came up with a description for my nails done by Vi: "Nails by Vi" (pronounced "Vee-ee"). Sounds kinda perfect since I have finally found a manicurist whose work I trust (Vi means business, PRECISION, and PERFECTION when it comes to doing nails) and that I like 'cause it's never a silent or dull visit. My only serious complaint is that y'all keep The Food Network on ALL THE MOUTH WATERING TIME and STILL aren't providing appetisers when I come in!!! What's up with that?! ;-) By the way, speaking of complaints, to the reviewer that complained about the phone and all, did it ever cross your mind to speak up and let the person doing your nails know nicely you were getting distracted and that you were hoping to relax? The ladies are generally quite nice about giving you the experience you'd like to have. If you don't speak up or ask you don't get what you require...(however, I do hear that other complaint about asking for one service and getting chewed out for another...I'm putting that one down to...well, let's just agree wholeheartedly that you have a point there...shame that happened...smh...that was not Vi...I'm just vouching for that...) Oh, back to my mani, the reason I'm typing this. So, I regularly get the shellac (have a standing every 2.5 to 3 week appointment, Vi's that good!), and since getting in the new colours and UV light drying machines, my mani's have only gotten better (meaning they last longer -- the 3 weeks, the colours go on smoother like hard candy, and don't do the funky shellac peel at the cuticle end when growing out after a week)!!! And my mani's are more colour adventurous...HOT PINK anyone?? It actually looks better than it sounds (will post pics eventually). The best thing about getting my nails done by Vi is that it's a consultation over what colour to get now and later, what a colour will look like, and what colour combinations will make a chosen base colour look better. Who knew using white polish as a base will make a colour brighter? Or mixing two shades of blue will get to the perfect shade? Or that gel black requires two-colour layering manipulation to make it blacker than what comes out the bottle thereby using fewer coats of black? Or that winter seasonal colours were more than just varying shades of red...? ;-) The best part? Vi is under oath to never let me walk out of there looking ghetto or hookerish...(I have tried! Vi refuses to go that route reputations withstanding!). As a result, her protégée Lily's plans to have someone leave with neon yellow nails brightened to highlighter yellow (remember the white base?) have been successfully thwarted. Sorry, Lily! Now...as for my pedis...I actually get these done once every month and a half or so with basic colour changes done inbetween full pedis...not because they're not good at providing the service, but I just don't need them as often (MOISTURISE your feet ladies! Especially when wearing open toed shoes and flip flops. You'll require far less foot manipulation - read: vigorous cheese grating - if you do). Someone already mentioned, Thuy...she's AMAZING with pedis and very gentle! I now get my pedis done by Lily whose got the same perfectionist streak as Vi and I swear...happy, pretty feet and nicely massaged calves are the result! :-) Alright, enough of my waxing eloquent on Lifestyle...the only things that could be improved upon, are: - an awareness of who is walk-in versus who is there for an appointment (mostly good, though) - can customers get water and wine as a complimentary service not an extra? - that a/c... They do a really good job here! I drive to this specific nail salon to get my pedicures because they are so thorough. Sometimes they have a wait and the last time they told me that they were overbooked so I could either come back at another time or go to their sister store nearby which did not do as good of a job. I came specifically to have my nails done there, so I didn't appreciate being directed somewhere else. They do shellac, which I haven't done in a while, but remember it being really good. Simply amazing! My nail tech recently retired and I was in search of a new manicurist. I decided to just walk in and take a chance. I saw pictures of nails by Vi and she just so happen to be available. It was my lucky day! Vi was so detailed! She is very good at what she does! I never write reviews but I feel everyone and their mother should know about Lifestyle. I have made this place my go-to. They do such an amazing job every single time. The shellac is phenomenal, I go every 2-3 weeks to get a color change. It seriously never chips. I broke a nail filed it down and it still did not chip. Not to mention all of the color options you have to choose from. All of the ladies there are so sweet. Dont get offended if they tell you to choose a color, while they're sitting at their station. They're so busy sometimes they dont get the chance to really welcome you like they'd like to, they mean well. Vi (Vee-ee) is the absolute best, if you want a guarantee that she'll be the one doing your nails call ahead and make an appointment. Updated review. I have tried a few other places and only have one that matches the service here bit is more expensive. The royal pedicures here are fantastic. Sugar scrub, oil, body butter, full leg massage, and toooed off with a hot stone massage. Ive noticed at other places my dry feet look rough again even the next day sometimes but here the ladies really do a fantastic job of removing all of the dry skin and finishing with the perfect polish application. Plenty of colors to chose from and they offer wine or water. Very nice service. I have had many different ladies help me here and all are great! Ask for Nhu is she is available! read more

Have been here twice now and always like the results but the service sucks so I don't think I'll be back. Prices are high also and even though they advertise a complimentary glass of wine with service (at least the first time I got it), the second time I was offered nothing and they put up a fuss when I asked. And I was having a pedicure and manicure but because neither was a 'royale' service I wasn't supported to get wine. Seems like a small thing, but it's annoying nonetheless. read more

I've been coming here for years, but lately I'm considering finding a new nail salon. With the recent changes in ownership/management, things just aren't up to the same quality of service. Came in today for a pedicure, right when the salon opened, thinking I could get in quickly. There was ONE technician working and she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off! There were 3 of us customers that came in around the same time and they had no staff. She was calling people on the phone trying to get them to come in and wait on us. Finally ONE other person showed up, but they clearly needed more people working. It's the weekend after all! Such a stressful experience, which is not what I come here for. This is a good salon - they offer great services at reasonable prices and do a great job. That said, I had my third unpleasant experience there this past weekend so I won't be back. When I'm paying $40 or so for a service, plus 25% tip, I prefer a place that's a little less hit or miss. This past weekend my nail tech took off in the middle of my pedicure. She was nowhere to be found and the other nail techs were expressing some concern to each other about where she went. After waiting fifteen minutes for her to come back, I decided to leave. She charged me $30 even though I got no massage and no polish. Would not recommend, when I went I got a full set and all was well at first there were a little crooked and it was bigger than my actual nail but I'm not super picky so i was just going to let us slide until the next day all the gel polish started coming off so I went back in to get it touched up and then the day after that the polish continued to keep falling off then the nail that was on my pinky was done so poorly that half of my nail and some skin is coming off with the fake nail. I love this place, excellent royal pedicure and leg massage and while other people have noted that they are bothered by the nail techs chatting among themselves, I LOVE it. Why? Because I can comfortably read my book without feeling like I need to carry a conversation with a stranger. Getting a pedicure is an hour of solitude, quiet time and very rare me time, so I am very happy to tell the nail techs to just ignore me and chat with each other while I bliss out. Also, just putting this out there.. when English is your second language, you will probably feel more comfortable chatting in your native language with other native speakers. The nail techs are not taking the opportunity to talk about you when you can't understand them, they're talking about what their kids did over the weekend, the stupid, goofy or cute thing their husband did last night or what happened on last night's episode of Modern Family. read more

This morning I was a walk-in and requested a pink fill. I was impressed by the decor and the fact that they do youe nails standing at a bar. I reconfirmed that I wanted a pink fill only. The technican proceeded to file all the white off my nails. Once I noticied I told her this wasnt what I asked for. She begun to argue with me, raising her voice saying that I asked for a pink and white fill. I actually had to ask her to stop arguing with me. From there she did a terrible job. My nails are lumpy and uneven. She barely took the time to smooth them down and buffed then for a mere second. I would not recommened this place to anyone ever! Worst job and terrible service. $25 for a fill that looks worse than before I had gone in. Unbelievable! read more

I rarely post on yelp (although I read it a lot!) but I felt I needed to for this salon because It was hands down the worst customer service experience I have encountered. The woman who was checking my friend and I in, quickly, and seemingly randomly, got very very rude towards us. My friend had asked if she could help find a nail color, and she responded by turning to her co-workers and saying "Does it look like I do this shit?' in front of the entire salon. At that point, my friend asked if there was a problem and if she had done something to make her upset. The employee then responded 'I didn't like the way you looked at me when you came in. And then you asked me to help you find a color'. We were literally stunned, as at no point did we mean to offend this woman. We then told her we had decided to leave to which she responded: 'fine fine that's fine I don't care'. I cannot speak to the quality of the work there, but I can say we felt really disrespected and I'm sure the rest of the salon didn't really appreciate 'shit' being yelled in the salon. There is a salon right across the street: Arboretum Nails and Spa, which we had a great experience at, which I would recommend going to if you're in the area! read more

I've been going to Lifestyle Nails and Spa since 2016 and after this last trip I will not be returning. The salon was closing early and instead of the owner telling me I was too late, he rushed me to pick out a color and then get into a pedicure chair. Once the two ladies came out to give me a shellac mani and pedi, they rushed through it and had me done in 20 minutes! My manicure is just okay considering I had 30 seconds to choose a color. The pedicure was hands down the worst one I've ever had. The young lady doing the pedicure skipped over half the steps like pushing and cutting my cuticles, scrubbing the bottoms of my feet and to top it off slathered some lotion on and wiped it off with a cold, wet towel. The worst part was that I was charged full price ($75) for this terrible service! Like I said, Lifestyle Nails & Spa has always been my go to, but not after this trip. read more

This is right next to HEB. I came here because the other nail salon across the street ignored me. I was frustrated but as soon as I walked into this place I was greeted by a gentleman at the door. He had me pick my color and I was immediately seated at the nail bar. He did an excellent job on my nails. There was a full staff on duty and a steady flow of clients while I was there. I used to go here alot and the place was really clean and I loved the service. Because I liked it so much my husband purchased a $40 dollar gift certificate from here. Well long story short I got really sick and could not function and it took me a couple of years to recover from my illness. The gift certificate had an expiration of only six months and because I missed it I thought I would call and see if they would honor it or at least give me a discount for the $40 my husband spent. The person in charge who answered the phone sounded like a wet rag. I explained the situation to him and he just blankly said "no". This is the last time I will go in there because it is convenient to my home. All money and no joy, no smiles, no chit chat. The owner at the front day scowls and barks at you to pick your color and sit down. His bad juju has spread to the stressed-out nail ladies. They do not chatter among themselves, They do not smile at you. The place is grim. Today, after my $25 pedicure that included 90 seconds of lotion-rubbing on my calves and no skin removal from the bottoms of my feet, the flip flops were placed on my feet and I was shunted out into the cold and rain. read more

Do not use this Nail Spa. It has never held a State license. The owner was cited in 2013 and the owner and workers, in 2014, had their personal license revoked when the state found them still operating without a license. Due to there only being 29 inspectors, the State hasn't been able to keep coming back. They are illegally operating and do not follow State health guidelines. read more

I have had nothing but amazing services here! I live in South Austin and will drive to this salon because they always deliver. My girl is Ashley and she will hook your nails up! I prefer the coffin or coven nails, and she has done the best. She's been in the industry for several years. She's quick and amazinggg! She is truly skilled. It's my 1st time stopping by and I informed the lady that I have not done solar nails for a while. I asked for a simple manicure and what the price would be. She said $30 and somehow I ended up spending $45 plus tip. I specifically sealed the deal with her in the beginning and can't explain why she did something I didn't agree to. She charged me $15 extra and the pricing on their catalogue is not even matching what they charge you at time of payment. Be careful!!! read more

I have gone here a couple of times and it was ok. However i went there last night and got the WORST main-pedi of my life. My toes look like a kindergardener painted them, no joke. That is $60 bucks and an hour and a half i will never get back. My nails (shelac) look like they were painted a week ago because the paint ends so far from the cuticle and is over my skin in several places, which is already causing the Shelac to lift. I am going to try to go back and have it be redone, but i am going to go ahead and guess it probably won't happen. So much more worth it to pay the extra and go to Caesars read more

I just tried them again. It was like a sauna inthere. The tech said the owner doesn't like the AC on. No effort to fix it. Later, when i said it was way too hot, they finally turned on the air. Meanwhile, the woman doing my nails alternated between complaining about her boyfriend to the other tech and taking at least 10 calls fromhim while moving. That was sooo relaxing! I really needed to get a manicure since it has been years. I saw this lifestyle nails after getting some items from heb and figure I give me some pampering time. I walked into the salon and it was very clean and pretty. It even had a little bar back area on the left. I thought they served alcohol, which would have been a bonus to my pampering. Actually, if you get the deluxe or royal package, they serve you wine which was nice of them. The lady that did my nails was Vi. Totally laid back, funny, and entertaining. Usually I go to salons, I would just sit there super quiet until I was done, pay then leave.. Which makes time go sooooo slow. But this was a different experience. Vi kept a conversation with me and I felt very comfortable in the salon. Everyone else was super nice too. Even with the conversation, my nails look Gorgeous! She didn't get distracted or anything. This is by far the BEST the spa pedicure and manicure I've ever received! I got the Milk & (Honey?) Pedicure for $60 & it was totally worth it!! My girl was Sara and the foot and massage up to the knee almost put me to sleep. I ended up getting my hands done too after I began the pedicure experience. My hands and feet look amazing. I really wanted to like this place. The nail work here is very good and the new owners seemed to be making some changes. But they don't seem to honor their own posted discounts. First time was in January when I went with a friend to get manicures and they had a deal for 20% off on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. It was a Monday. My friend paid and remarked that she thought they had charged her the full price. I chalked it up to an oversight, no big deal. Tonight I went, and everything was great until it came time to pay. They have coupons posted under Specials on their website and there are three coupons for 20% off, expiring on different dates in April of 2019. I tried to show the female owner the coupons and she said she wasn't going to honor them because they had taken over the salon in December and that it was from the previous owner. Then she scrolled down*on the exact page web page* to show me the 20% off Mondays - Wednesdays in January and said that was their deal (remember that wasn't honored either ‍). She said they had taken over the salon in December and hadn't had the time to do anything on the website, although they had put the January deal on it. She then chastised me for not telling her about to coupon when we came in (the coupon says present it at payment). I think if deals aren't going to be honored, then don't offer them. They clearly have had the time in the last two months to make changes to the website so I don't believe her. I would rather go to a salon where I am going to pay full price but have no expectation of a discount, rather than what has happened here twice now. I won't be back. read more

This review is based on my 3rd experience here. My prior two experiences were great, unfortunately this one was not. My gel nail color is bubbled in some places and they really needed a 3rd coat because I can still see white in the light. The more troubling part of this visit is the cut I now have on my heel from the pedicure. The technician must have done too much callus removing. Remove callus please not live skin! read more

This is the worst manicure/customer service I've ever received. I was excited to treat myself after a long day at work, picked out the color I wanted, and waited my turn. The gentleman that works there worked on my nails. I told him I wanted my nails "short," and he cut them and filed them down to a painful length, and even nicked me with the cuticle cutting tool a couple of times ( I am bleeding from two of my fingers...). The nail polish I picked out was lumpy and drying out, and when he was finished the ends of my nails were so jagged, it looked like I had gotten my nails done a few days ago. I told him I didn't like how bumpy it was, and he said "I'll go back and fix it later." Then after another half-hearted and rushed coat of paint, it looked like I had done the manicure myself with old, lumpy polish! I told him that I did not like the way that it looked, and he told me it was because I wanted my nails so short he couldn't paint the ends all of the way. I then told him that I wanted him to at least try, and he was so put out by me asking him to do is job, that he smeared nail polish all over the ends of my fingers, and then tried to take the excess off with a paintbrush....my fingers were stained and looked awful. I again, expressed that I was unhappy, so he removed all of my polish, said "I refunded back to your card," and WALKED AWAY FROM ME! This has got to be the most amazing customer service I have ever received... not only was this man rude and AWFUL at painting nails, he refused to fix the problem after I told him I was unhappy with my nails and instead refunded my money and all but kicked me out of the door! I will never go to this nail salon again. What was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon of treating myself to a manicure, ended in a wasted hour and a half of my life, my nails are painfully short, and I am bleeding from two fingers.
