The first couple times I went here I had a great experience. The nail tech was very sweet, and did a thorough job on my dip manicure. The third time I went here was a disaster. I had a different nail tech from the first two visits, and she just didn't seem to know what she was doing. She was super rough on my nails. She tried to pry the nail polish off my natural fingernail with some sort of implement, and it hurt pretty badly. I had to yank my hand back and tell her to stop. She cut my finger and filed my nails so roughly. She didn't seem to know what she was doing, and wasn't consistent between each hand. And the manicure just looked like doo-doo when it was all said and done. I don't know why she was so rushed, since the place was empty and all the nail techs were sitting around chatting. I would avoid this place if possible. I like how close it is to my home, but the inconsistency among the nail techs is not worth it. read more

Never thought I would be writing a review for a Nail Spa but here goes... I think I first came here in 2016 with my wife. She suggested I do the pedicure so I said why not. I believe she opted for just a foot massage after getting her nails did (sic). I've had foot problems most of my life but never thought about getting a pedicure They have a pretty extensive menu - I always like to go above and beyond so I usually get the royal one which includes some kind of gel that feels really nice when you move your feet in the water. This is followed by scrubbing (my nail tech recommended I opt out of the foot file because of my sensitive feet) so she uses the a pumice pad - this is followed by hot stone and hot towel wraps, and massage which is awesome I realized that coming here really helped the foot problems I had for a very long time (eczema) and the nail tech really knows what she's doing to almost a surgical precision. She even recommended a specific lotion for me to use at home and tips on keeping my feet hydrated on a day to day basis They use a liner for the tub and are really good about hygiene - I've read some reviews mentioning bacterial issues but I've never had any issues and I've been coming here exclusively for many years so I'm not sure where that's coming from All in all this place is a Diamond in the rough, and even if you don't have foot problems it's also a nice relaxing place to go with your significant other after a long day of shopping at the domain - your feet need some TLC too! (Guys and girls!) As for recommendations - I recommend Jenny. Her attention to detail, friendly personality, and non-rushed almost-surgical method of caring for your feet always goes above and beyond. Your feet will thank you! I had a horrible experience as I was getting my nails done and the price kept going up and the lady was very argumentative. I didn't have an issue with paying, as I felt I was being token advantage of. When I started asking questions she began to get upset. She gave bad Customer Service and she wouldn't provide her name. She held it because she know that she did something wrong. She immediately started talking in her language. I called the authorities to try to get her name, but I'm gonna provide you all the picture so you all don't have the same experience I had. Came in for an eyebrow wax and now my eyebrows are uneven and they took off a lot from the starting point of the brow. They didn't even comb the brows to get them into place and I feel like that's why it came out uneven. They were nice but I wish my eyebrows weren't that bad. It's so obvious it's uneven. Needed an eyebrow wax and just moved to the area. I called to see if I could make an appointment and was told that eyebrow waxes are always walk-ins because they're so quick. I called on a Saturday afternoon for an appointment on the next day as soon as they opened. The woman who took my appointment didn't take my name, which I thought somewhat odd, but when I got there at noon, they got me in right away. I asked for a pedicure and dip nails. As soon as I sat down in the chair for the pedicure, a woman came over to rough up and soak off my existing nails. I DO NOT like having my hands and feet done at the same time. I can't relax and enjoy the pedicure. It's overstimulating and stresses me. The pedicure was generally ok and the deluxe included parafin soak and hot stone massage. There was not a lot of selection in pedicures. My only complaint about the pedicure was that she did not let my feet soak in the callous solution before using the "cheese grater" on them. The manicure really irked me. I've had dip nails done for the last 3 years all over the country, and almost everyone does them differently. The tech did not wrap the nails in cotton/acetone and let them soak off. She roughed them up and gave me a bowl of acetone to soak in while she did the other hand. That wasn't enough time to soften up all the polish, so she dremeled the remainder off, including some of my natural nail. :-( One of the reasons I get dip nails is to preserve the natural nail. She did not ask me about shape, and when I indictated I wanted them cut down, I assumed she would keep the almond shape I had. She didn't, and I asked for more definition, which she did on one nail. She then got called away to another customer, and I sat for the rest of my pedicure with one hand cut down roughly and the other not. The tech that did my pedicure finished my dip job and did not match the shape originally established, so I ended up with a natural shape instead of the almond shape I wanted. I realize I could have protested, but I was already not happy with the experience, so I just tried to get out without being a witch to anyone. The tech applied the dip color and asked me if I wanted a 3rd coat. I did not, so she commenced to dremel the nails again(?). She re-shaped them after polishing them, which I think will open up the edges to separate, but I'm waiting to see if that happens. You never know the process a place uses before you go in, and everyone has their own preferences. On the plus side, the nails look fine, just not the shape I wanted and I got out in a little over an hour for what usually takes 2.5 hours. The price was reasonable and the ladies were quite pleasant and could tell I was not enjoying the experience, but either didn't care or didn't have the language skills to ask my preferences. I felt trapped with the process, and that even asking for a different process would not have produced a positive experience. read more

I am definitely a fan! I recently went to Tegan nails with my mom-in-law (who was getting a pedicure for the first time), and we were both highly satisfied with our pedicures. Their regular pedicure is $26.00 (quite affordable), and they offer their customers red or white wine, a margarita, tea or coffee when you visit. Both our nail technicians were very thorough and they did a satisfying job cleaning our nails. I would definitely recommend trying these guys out!! read more

SO GLAD I found this place. My hands down favorite is (was!) Roxy Nails on Ben White & Lamar, but I don't live down south anymore. (Honorable mention to the place in Concorde Centre on Airport Blvd.) This place has a GREAT atmosphere, and long, luxurious massages in very comfortable massaging pedicure chairs. Went in for a shellac manicure around lunchtime on a Thursday. Only one other customer there, so got right in. They have TONS of colors to choose from. I picked a boring gray color as I'm getting my nails done before a big work conference and need them to match all my business attire, but I am dying to come back and copy the nails my aesthetician had - a silver chrome looking color. Very nice and polite ladies running the place. I was in and out within 45 minutes. I entertained myself watching Lady Gaga music videos that they had running on the TV. $28 before tip. I had wanted a chrome effect on my nails which they said they could do. 45 minutes later it just ends up looking like when I painted my nails in middle school. Cheap looking blue shimmery press ons. Great service and great price! Fourth nail salon I've visited in Austin and this place was by far the best in regards to the quality of work on my nails! Jenny saw me right away. I showed her a pic of the French manicure ombré look that I wanted and she was on point. Sometimes nail techs make them too thick, she did not! She was precise and accurate in the overall detail and quality. I will let you know how long they last. I was not impressed with the actual physical shop though. Lots of nail dust everywhere, many visible wires, clutter and business was very slow as one of the other nail techs mentioned. Another nail tech heated up her lunch which smelled up the small salon and she proceeded to eat off of the massage chair. I get it, people have to eat so I'm or saying anything to that but definitely need a little lunch room. It was just kind of awkward. Back to nail service... I Absoluetly love this place. The staff are all super friendly. I come here for a quick wax and nails. I'm a huge fan of sns nails. It's the powder nails that you dip your fingers into the color and it last around a month. I like it more than gel nails that last just a couple of weeks. Today, I got my first pedicure here called pedicure in a box cucumber it includes cucumber salt, cuticle care, callus removal, mud mask with hot towels and stone. The pedicure was much needed. Okay so... DO NOT LET THE NEW GIRL DO YOUR NAILS!!!!! I can't remember who I normally see I can never learn her name she is AMAZING! I had to wait for her so a younger new girl sat down to file down my nails and color off, she didn't know anything and could barely use the tool. I was watching her closely and she was doing ok but I was so nervous and in the end she ended up slicing the side of my ring finger. It hurt so bad and was bleeding so much all over the table she was like ohh no sorry! And walked off!! Thank god the other lady stepped in but holy sh!t I dodged a bullet with her finishing me. Tegan's is worth the drive. Well, also, I get to hang out with my colleague that lives near here and we get our nails done and talk about work. But I'm seriously considering going there tomorrow whether she can meet me our not. PROs: Techs are really nice and gentle when clipping your cuticles They are thorough and detailed and rarely have to clean up polish, even when painting my pathetically short and thin nails They go back over your cuticles though and clean up a second time if necessary They don't buff the ever living sh*t out of your nails (mine are still growing out from a terrible manicure I got a couple months ago where they were buffed so much they were paper thin) They give you the massage *after* they shellac. So smart, it saves a hand washing and probably makes the polish stick better It doesn't smell like a nail salon in here Usually no wait in the middle of the day Reasonably priced CONs: Last time I was here, there were men shouting really loudly next door, like loud enough that I was scared they were going to draw guns on each other and we'd get shot through the wall (sorry, I watch a lot of crime shows) It's so far from my house! I don't see many dudes review a nail place, so I'll get to the point. Having your feet and calves massaged while your lady gets her nails all shiny and new, and not breaking the bank, is what gets five stars at this place. Now some details ;) I'm actually pretty particular about my nails. I usually keep them in good condition on my own, but every once in a while it's nice to let someone else do the work. That being said, two years ago I probably wouldn't have considered treating myself to a pedicure. But my girlfriend likes it, and I went with her as a joint activity and I paid just to treat her. Worked out great! She usually goes by herself or with a girlfriend instead, but it's become a thing we do together sometimes. I'd say most experiences are in the 3-4 star range from Dallas to San Antonio, but this one was good. They poured her a glass of wine when we arrived and handed her the remote to the massaging chair and within two minutes she was talking about how the workday had melted away. Treat my woman right and you'll go far! Ivy took care of Amanda, and Tsi (I have no idea how to spell her name...) was in charge of my talons. Both ladies were just the right amount of chatty, but made our feet the priority. I appreciated the professionalism and when we were done, the price was right as well. I went in yesterday for a pedicure and eyebrow wax and went home with half an eyebrow missing. When I asked the woman why she removed half of my eyebrow, she didn't really have an answer, she just made a mistake. Her suggestion was to remove half of my other eyebrow "so they would be even". It was really poor work and even worse customer service. They still made me pay, despite missing half an eyebrow and didn't apologize and didn't even apologize for the terrible work. On the upside, I found some good eyeliner filler and will use that to cover their mistake. I've been here a few times and always had a good experience, but I will never return. If you do go, go for the nails, not the waxing services. read more

Only reason I went was because of all the great reviews. But let me say that I went in to get a basic gel with one accent nail with chevron design. Easy designs. But they said they couldn't do it. When all these pictures on here show even more intense designs...... So it really upset me. So then I was like I can just do with studs put on my nails. Like just one basic one on two of my fingers and she didn't do what I wanted. Now I have random boxes on my fingers that even the picture I showed her is nothing like it .... All I wanted was one simple stud and she put like 4 on each. I don't like it. There was no music so there was no Atmosphere. Like all other places have basic music. But instead it was awkward as hell. No one was talking. Then a lady came in upset because one of her nails came off and the ladies were ignoring her? Horrible customer service. I love this place! After going to several different places to my acrylic nails, I noticed that there was no consistency with how my nails would be done. I have been seeing Mimi for several visits, and her work is consistent at all of my visits. She listened to what exactly I wanted, and she worked with me to make sure I was satisfied with the results. I tried them out for getting my eyebrows waxed for the first time in my entire life. Melissa did a fabulous job and made my eyebrows look fantastic! I have had a good experience every time I have visited. I would recommend going to them first before trying someone else. read more

I wish I could remember the technician's name, but she spent a great deal of time on my pedicure, had a helpful color suggestion when I asked, AND she is probably the first technician who really listened when I asked to not have the foot massage (I had a serious foot injury before). On a side note, it always bugs me when I go into a new salon and I am basically left waiting there in the middle of my polishing because an old customer came in. It is very rude. Most importantly though the polish looks as great as it did, when I walked out the door and has not chipped or worn down at all after 3 wks.
