My mom and I went into Globe Lighting on a Saturday at 3 pm. We were looking to add to our home renovation plan. As we walked in, there were two people behind the counter, a young woman and older man. Neither greeted us or even looked at us. We browsed their showroom for approximately 30 minutes. We had active conversations about the products and our remodel project, and even looked their way multiple times, hoping for acknowledgment. The man gave no notice to us at all, not even a glance. The woman side-eyed us a couple times, but gave us nothing more. We were pleased with their products and got more inspiration, but we are frustrated with the lack of attention. As we walked right by the front desk on the way out, all we got was nasty glare from the woman. While we would love to shop local, our lighting fixtures will be bought online or at another store. Believe the reviews that complain about the customer service. Yes, it is THAT bad. I walked into the store around 9:30am on a weekday and there is one sales person behind the counter serving another customer. She doesn't acknowledge me, say I'll be with you in a moment, etc. I notice an older guy sitting at a table in front of a monitor and he ignores me. I leave. I call later in the morning about a ceiling fan. The guy I talk with (it was the older guy sitting at the table, I'm sure of it) is brusque and impatient with zero interest in answering my questions. The Bend location for the Globe Lighting chain, this store is on the smallish size but offers a full range of lighting products, helpful staff who know their stuff and reasonable prices. Plus close proximity to the Cascade Village Shopping center makes this our "go to" shop for lighting needs these days. MOVING SALE: The "heads up" for now is the store is getting ready to relocate to new digs about a mile away and as a result, they are having deep discounts on in store several items so they don't have to move the inventory. So a good time to pop in. WHAT YOU"LL FIND: You'll find a decent selection of good quality lamp shades in a full range of sizes from chandelier to those that fit large lamps. These are tough to find in Bend. And as example of the current great sale, we found a premium lamp shade in exactly the size, color and shape we needed for almost 75% off the original price last week. Also, you'll find all kinds of light bulbs including those for recessed lights and decorative pendant lights, some of which are specialized enough that places like Home Depot does not carry them. And our experience has been if they don't have the specialty bulbs in stock in the store here, they can order them for pretty fast delivery. You'll also find lighting fixtures for walls from bath lights to wall sconces, chandeliers, ceiling fixtures and lamps in all price ranges. They even carry some non lighting related products, like door hardware, in medium range quality like Emtek. But it is the knowledgeable staff that most shines (pun intended) here. As example, when we recently wanted to change out a down light to an angled art light to highlight a new piece the staff there could recommend options, answer our DIY installation questions, and had the light ordered and in store within a week. TWO DRAWBACKS: 1) Their lamp shade selection isn't as broad as offered via the company web site (see here http://www.destinationlighting.com/ ) and they can't seem to order those individually if they're out of stock in store. 2) The staff is limited to two or three people and they always seem busy. So be prepared to be patient if you go in and need help from them. It astounds me how rude some shoppers can be to these busy staff folks; as in the case of a woman when we were in the store last. She thought the staff should drop all given she was in a hurry and needing consulting help on recessed lights. So a heads up - plan on delay if you need consulting assistance or call ahead to schedule that time. THIS N THAT: LOCATION: Although you can see the store from Highway 97, you can not get to it without driving down a distant access road, alongside the Holiday Inn Express and onto a feeder road that runs to the cemetery. Before entering the cemetery you need to make a right turn into the lot that serves Globe Lighting. The point is, use GPS or a map because although the store is highly visible from the freeway, it is hard to get to unless you know where you're going. This will change when they move (maybe December 2012) about a mile up (closer to Cascade Village) in that the store will be less visible but easier to get to. We bought almost all of the lighting fixtures for our new house from Globe. They have an amazing selection and the prices are very fair. We talked to two different agents and they were both extremely helpful and polite. The only complaint I have is that there are usually two people working in the store and sometimes three, all of whom are usually busy. No one has ever acknowledged us to say "Hello" or "We'll be with you as soon as we're finish with our customers." The store is very small, so it is weird to just be ignored to 30 or 40 minutes. We just left one day after waiting so long and no one cared. Still, their products are exceptional, which is the reason they are always busy. read more

We went to this store to purchase a ceiling fan and several light fixtures for our home. No one offered us any assistance. They had a few fans on display. We went to the desk, where 3 people sat looking at their computers, and asked which were rated for outdoor use. They didn't know and said we would have to pick out a fan and then they would look it up. We picked one out, were told it was not rated for outdoor use, and that was that. No offer to help us find a fan. Just 3 people staring at their computers. We moved on the Accent lighting in Redmond - unbelievable customer service, knowledge and selection. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced anywhere on Earth. We ordered 3 lights from them (chandelier and 2 bar lights). Chandelier arrived and was fine. Was told we'd be called when the 2 other lights arrived, within a week or 2. 3 weeks later we never got a call, but decided that the lights wouldn't work so we called them and asked for the money to be refunded. They said no problem. A month later from them the refund had still not shown up. I called them and after being on the phone for 30 minutes with different people was told oh yes the money was refunded but it might still take a few weeks before it shows up back on our card. Another month later still no refund. Called again and after being on the phone another 45 minutes still no accountability, no apologies, just that oh yes they refunded us the money already and we should look closer at our statements to find the refund. REFUND NEVER CAME TO US. Another month later and we call again (wanted to go in person but just never had the time for us both to go in with the card) and it finally came to their attention that they refunded the money onto SOMEONE ELSE's card. So we first requested the refund in May, here it's end of July and we still haven't got our money back. With no apologies or accountability from them at all. Don't shop here you can find better lighting and customer service at Home Depot. read more

While I felt they had some fun selections of lights to choose from, you might as well have been a ghost roaming around the store despite the fact that there were 3 employees just standing around. Not one of them chose to proactively help me, let alone even bother to greet me for that matter. Each of the 2 times I have been in the store I had the same experience with having to ask for help and then receive painfully slow responses with no excitement, energy or will to share information about their products... it was like pulling teeth to get answers to simple questions. I had a guy quote me a price for a sconce, came back with a higher price..."actually it's..." and then called me the next day to inform that it was actually triple! the price that he originally quoted me.
