We are really pleased with the back yard landscape work by Alex and Dan with Solidago Landscaping. Solidago's original detailed itemized estimate was based on our conceptual layout with a few minor additions prior to starting the work. Our landscaping plan included the removal of about 6 inches of the top layer of the entire backyard and side yards, base soil preparation and compaction, weed barrier installation with perimeter aspen rock near the fences, a large area of paver stones with brick soldiers, and a new area of sod, complete with irrigation sprinkler replacement. Alex and Dan did a professional and quality job with remarkable results, given the limited area for entrance into the backyard. Alex was always very communicative throughout the project. It's rare to have your expectations exceeded in this economy where everyone is rushed and overextended​. Alex and his crew were AWESOME. Not only did they finish by their deadline but they also came in a bit under the estimate so we saved some money because they were so efficient​. Which is tough because he had to tap into our existing system and some difficulty being on a hillside. It's important to note, there were a couple plants that were missed. When I called Alex he quickly apologized​ and came out the same day and added those in. That is where a company can really step up or be a let down as I know they're on to the next project and it sometimes can take some effort to get someone back out...this was not the case. We recently completed a major renovation of the front of our house in Oakland's Dimond district, and we hired Solidago Landscaping to design and install a new front garden and irrigation system, and to maintain our existing back garden and irrigation system, re-plant some problem areas, and build a new fence across the back of our property. We worked well together to create a beautiful plan, which was completed on schedule, with attention paid to every detail. We are thrilled with every aspect of the job, except for OUR choice of crushed granite for the front walkways (the material washes out of the walkways and onto the sidewalk when water flows over it). Alex will be working with us in the Spring to see about a solution to that problem. We also plan to bring him back to work further in the back garden. He and his workers do a splendid job. Alex and his crew are great! The service is excellent. And on top of that, the price is more than reasonable. Alex did a fantastic job on my front garden in front of my house soon to be listed. We wanted something flowering already. He made some special order of plants that would have the blossoms at the right time. The garden looked great! Unfortunately, my home inspecting company was very careless and one of their crew broke two stems of one of the flowers! I asked Alex for help to replace it. He went to 2 nurseries and called another 2, and the only thing he found was a smaller plant with no blooms on it. It's because the ones that Alex used for our garden were special ordered and the stores didn't have any more. But Alex didn't stop here. He still went over to my garden and checked out the plant - Alex found it had at least one bloom on it, and some more coming, so he thinks it will be okay. He also pulled some weeds along the sidewalk while he was checking the flower. All this was done out of his kindness. You don't expect anything more than what Alex can do for you. read more
